2014 Sports Symposium Fellowship Application About Sports Symposium, Inc. hosts annual student-run conferences that are considered the global sports industry’s premier events. The annual Ivy Sports Symposium and Global Sports Symposium enable the industry’s leaders and most successful executives to share invaluable knowledge with their peers and potential successors. Established in 2006 by Chris Chaney at Princeton University, Sports Symposium, Inc. sets the standard for college-based sports business conferences. The intimate settings combined with engaging content and dynamic speakers makes both conferences “must attend” events every year. Fellowship Program The Sports Symposium, Inc. Fellowship Program was created in 2011 to provide talented graduate and undergraduate students with the unique opportunity to gain in-depth experience working on two of the industry’s most respected events and the organization surrounding it. Each year, Sports Symposium selects 1-2 students to provide hands-on support on a variety of Symposium ventures. The Fellow works closely with the Executive Director and the Planning Committee on several important organizational tasks including, but not limited to: 1) Assisting with Symposium event execution.

Sports Symposium, Inc. hosts annual student-run conferences that are considered the global sports industry’s premier events. The annual Ivy Sports Symposium and Global Sports Symposium enable the industry’s leaders and most successful executives to share invaluable knowledge with their peers and potential successors.

Established in 2006 by Chris Chaney at Princeton University, Sports Symposium, Inc. sets the standard for college-based sports business conferences. The intimate settings combined with engaging content and dynamic speakers makes both conferences “must attend” events every year.

Fellowship Program

The Sports Symposium, Inc. Fellowship Program was created in 2011 to provide talented graduate and undergraduate students with the unique opportunity to gain in-depth experience working on two of the industry’s most respected events and the organization surrounding it.

Each year, Sports Symposium selects 1-2 students to provide hands-on support on a variety of Symposium ventures. The Fellow works closely with the Executive Director and the Planning Committee on several important organizational tasks including, but not limited to:

1) Assisting with Symposium event execution. 2) Coordinating committee (e.g. Advisory Committee, Young Leaders Committee,

etc.) activities. 3) Managing Symposium sponsors. 4) Recruitment of Symposium speakers. 5) Assistance with publicity through social media and Symposium website.6) 10 NEXT Award execution.

Details

1) Unpaid fellowship program 2) 12 months (June 2014 through late May 2015, exact dates mutually agreed upon)

3) Requires 10-15 hours per week working remotely. 4) The 2-3 months preceding the Symposium generally require 15-20 hours per

week to prepare for the event.5) The final 2-3 months of the fellowship generally require 1-10 hours per week.

Application Timeline

May 19, 2014: Deadline for application submissions.

May 26, 2014: Fellows will be notified by email of their acceptance.

Eligibility Criteria

1) Full-time undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college or university. 2) Must be graduating no earlier than Spring 2015.

Selection Criteria

1) Quality of application.2) Demonstration of interest in a future career of leadership in sports.3) Preference is given to candidates with prior work/internship experience in the

sports industry or related fields. 4) Sports Symposium, Inc. complies with all equal opportunity laws.

Application Checklist

The full application must include:

1) Cover letter.2) Five (5) suggestions on how to further grow the Symposium (no more than 250

words total).3) Resume (PDF format preferred). 4) Please email your cover letter, resume and suggestions to
