ANNUAL REPORT

WELCOME TO THEATRE FORWARD! Theatre Forward, formerly National Corporate Theatre Fund (NCTF), is a national organization where partnerships for artistic, educational and other impactful theatre programs are conceived, funded and disseminated to a wider network.
Our new name reflects the evolution of our organization and its continued focus on corporate partnerships and strategic services, as well as an expanded reach to include foundations, government and individuals. Thank you for joining us as the adventure continues.
MISSION Theatre Forward’s mission is to advance American theatre and its communities. We achieve our mission by providing funding and other resources to the country’s leading nonprofit theatres.
VISIONTheatre Forward increases access and opportunity for all to experience theatre that builds community and sets the stage for individual achievement.
We achieve our vision by ADVANCING STRONG THEATRE and EDUCATING THROUGH THEATRE.

2014 -15 HIGHLIGHTS
It has been a year of significant accomplishments
as we launch a new brand supporting the work of
our theatres and their communities.
ADVANCING STRONG THEATRE On behalf of our theatres, Theatre Forward
supports the creation of outstanding productions
of plays and musicals.
As well as partnerships that strengthen theatres as
organizations through operating, technology, and
other areas of support. The following activities
helped to achieve that vision.
• The Chairman’s Awards Gala, on April 13, 2015,
honored actor Michael C. Hall, Jolyon Stern and
his entertainment insurance brokerage firm
DeWitt Stern, and Long Wharf Theatre
(accepted by Joshua Borenstein & Gordon
Edelstein) on its 50th Anniversary. Hosted by
Elisabeth Moss and Bryce Pinkham, the event
raised $535,000. (Pictured above and below.)
• Other special events included our Broadway
Roundtable private lunch event hosted by
UBS, Creative Conversations, and Spotlight
Series Events.
• Theatre Forward access programs enabled
over 28,000 patrons & corporate employees
to obtain house seats and discount tickets
to shows, primarily on Broadway.
Our SAVE MY SEAT® program offers discount
and full price tickets on and Off-Broadway as
well as nationally and are made available
through our website, www.theatreforward.org
EDUCATING THROUGH THEATRE Studies continue to show that children in poverty
and at-risk benefit especially from an education
rich in the arts and yet their access is the most
limited. To address this issue and make impactful
change in this area, Theatre Forward supports
access and opportunity initiatives in our network
for educating through theatre at every grade level
and beyond.
• We released “Unmasking Business Success:
Executive Perspectives on Arts Engagement
and Workforce Skills,” which marks the
first specific research on this issue.
Findings include insights into the role of
arts engagement in executive success, how
the arts develop 21st century workforce skills
and perceptions of the caliber of America’s
entry-level workforce. It addresses the
opportunity gap that arises when we
deprive students access to arts related skills.
The report, released October 8, 2015, is
available at www.theatreforward.org/Success.
OTHER ACHIEVEMENTS OF IMPACT CREATIVITY INCLUDED:
• In November 2014, we released Arts
Education Partnership’s report on 19 innovative
education programs, and this rare
overview is available on our website at
www.theatreforward.org/Innovation.
• Media partnership through Aol.com,
Creative Media Technologies and Clear
Channel reached millions of people with the
message, “Theatre Education Changes Lives.”
• Thanks to support from the National
Endowment for the Arts, Cisco Systems and
Southwest Airlines, our official airline partner,
we initiated a self-facilitated professional
development program for theatre arts
education staff. Topics include issues of
diversity, program measurement, and
management and supervisory skills.
Impact Creativity’s legacy will be part of the
new EDUCATING THROUGH THEATRE initiative
which will focus on supporting ways theatre brings
key skills to students and adults through many
different means of engagement, especially for
the underserved and underrepresented.
Theatre Forward will build on our track record
and experience of Impact Creativity and
continue to advocate and support these
programs that change lives.
Our Impact Creativity campaign concluded on June 30, 2015 after raising over $750,000 over three years to support innovative theatre education across the country. Impact Creativity made significant strides in ensuring equitable access to high quality arts experiences for many underserved youth.
