This week’s PHS Twins of the Week are Sophomores, Talia and Tamia

Hallmon. When asked how it feels to be twins, both of them replied

they like it because they always have a friend and someone to talk to.

They feel that it is unique that their “birth” day was only one hour and

five minutes away from being on different days. Tamia is older than

her sister, Talia. They both love to show school spirit by being PHS

cheerleaders. During

their spare time, they

like to sit in their room,

listen to music, watch

TV, and talk to one

another. These two are

identical; the only way

people can distinguish

the difference between

them is that Talia has a

scar on her forehead. Since the girls love the twin life so much, they

do not get upset when people call them by the wrong name. We wish

you both the best as you journey through your PHS years!

This year’s drama class will be performing a play entitled: And They Dance Real Slow In Jackson. It is to be per-

Meeting at the Pole

Each year, students in the Pelham City Schools meet

at 7:30 AM at the school’s flag pole to pray for the students and teachers in

the school system and for the nation’s safety.

Pageant Girl Takes it All, Y’all

Recently, PHS Senior Whitney Harrell competed in the Sumner, GA pageant. Whitney competed in a beauty and

modeling competition; she had to recite an on-stage introduction and was required to answer an on-stage question. The panel of

judges scored the contestants based on their poise, confidence, and accuracy in these categories. Out of all the contestants in the pageant, Whitney scored highest overall and

received the Supreme title! She also received awards for prettiest eyes, smile, and dress. Congratulations, Whitney!

The Future Farmers of America (FFA) club is showing off their

spirit by having a dress down week at school, also known as FFA week. This has been a tradition at Pelham High School for many years. National FFA week is always the last week of February, but

PHS celebrates FFA Week before Nationals begin. Monday was the Camo and Muddy truck day; Tuesday was Sports day; Wednesday was Blue and Gold day; Thursday is Career Day, and Friday is

Award Day. The students who

participated and showed the most spirit will win an award on

Friday. If you are interested in joining FFA,

see Mr. Young.

Interesting Fact of the Week

A fresh new club is being formed at PHS called Best Buddies! Best

Buddies is a club that strives to break the

barriers between Special Education stu-

dents and non-Special Education students.

Each student who is a member of the club

will be paired with a Buddy; each student

and his Buddy will have weekly communication, whether it is via

phone call, letter, gift, or a face-to-face visit. The Best Buddies

club plans to have monthly meetings to plan holiday gatherings

with their Buddies. Best Buddies would like to change the social

exclusion of Special Education students in schools. See Mrs.

Beasley or Karly Fletcher to be a part of the change!
