2011-­‐12  Pilot  Schedules  CAMPUS   PE/Special  Schedule  Carver,  Williams,  Purl  and  Village  

Schedule  A:        45  minutes  daily  PE  plus  a  45  minute  SPECIALS  daily  block  GISD  is  the  only  district  in  TX  that  we  know  of  that  allowed  for  two  blocks  with  separate  daily  PE  and  Specials(Art,  Music,  Library,  Technology).  

Mitchell,  Frost  and  Ford   Schedule  B:        60  minute  daily  PE/Specials  shared  block  (30  minutes  each)  

Cooper,  McCoy  and  Pickett   Schedule  C:        Rotating  PE/Specials  45  minute  block  per  day.

ACADEMIC  REASONS  Provides  increased  instructional  time  due  to  higher  academic  standards  (STAAR)  and  increased  needs  of  GISD  students  

Decreases  the  amount  of  before  and  after  school  tutorials  

Provides  enrichment  and  intervention  during  the  school  day  by  including  additional  time  for  GT,  Enrichment  Activities,  Language  Acquisition,  and  Interventions  (RTI)    

Allows  time  to  provide  RtI  (Response  to  Intervention)  and  Dyslexia  interventions  (45  minute/day  program  –  BLS)  without  these  students  having  to  miss  PE/Specials  

Allows  time  for  classroom  teachers  to  provide  Tier  II  interventions  so  the  TITLE/ACCELL  teachers  can  provide  TIER  III  interventions
