An Experience of a Lifetime… NEW YORK CITY / BOSTON / MARTHA’S VINEYARD

TWO NIGHTS IN THE NEW YORK MARRIOTT MARQUIS TIMES SQUARE—

INDY SPEEDWAY and MUSEUM The Hall of Fame Museum on the grounds of the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway, a National His-toric Landmark since 1987, ap-peals to more than just the racing enthusiast. Displayed are more than 75 racing cars, in-cluding Indianapolis win-ners as well as race cars from internationally re-nowned motor sports events world wide. Also displayed are several ex-amples of early antique and classic passenger cars. Many of these cars were built here in Indianapolis, such as Stutz, Cole, Marmon, National and Duesenberg. Three of the first four 500 winning cars are permanently on exhibit, including the Marmon

"Wasp" which won the first 500-Mile Race in 1911. The Marmon "Wasp" was the first single-seat race car and it is believed

was the first automobile to make use of the rear view mirror. A trip around the famous oval in one of the Speedway vehicles is offered

to the public whenever the track is not in use for racing, testing, or the track is closed due to weather con-ditions. DR. TED’S MUSICAL MARVELS MUSEUM Dr. Ted's Musical Marvels is a co-lossal collection of the most amaz-ing mechanical musical instru-

ments you will ever hear. This spectacular collection embod-ies pieces from the 1800's to the mid-1900's. A guaranteed visual treat, but then, oh... when those instruments start to play you'll walk away from Dr. Ted's Musical Marvels forever altered from the experience.

A Passport will be required for this trip.

AIR FORCE MUSEUM AT DAYTON, OHIO The United States Air Force Museum is the largest and oldest military aviation museum in the world. It tells the exciting story of aviation devel-opment from the days of the Wright Brothers at Kitty Hawk to the present. Over 1 million visitors from around the world tour this facility annually. LONGABERGER BASKET CO. Dave Longaberger was one of the most remarkable and successful entrepreneurs of his generation. His vision, his unorthodox business methods, and his belief in people resulted in the creation of one of the largest and most successful private companies in America today. "Longaberger: An American Success Story" is the fascinating first-hand account of how this Company was created and grew to be the largest basket manufacturer in the United States, employing thou-sands of people, revitalizing its community, and inspiring a commit-ment to quality, craftsmanship, and, above all else, a unique manage-ment philosophy.

Pictured is Longaberger’s World Headquarters Office building.

WARTHER’S CARVERS MUSEUM IN DOVER

Ernest Warther, World's Master Carver, discovered early in his carving career the importance of knives that would hold their edge against ebony and ivory. Unable to find carving knives of such quality, he decided to make his own. His mother also com-plained about never having a sharp paring knife. So he developed his own techniques for tempering and sharpening a steel blade that would keep its sharp edge. Thus, out of necessity, was born the world's finest kitchen cutlery. Today, the Warthers are in their third generation of knife makers. His son Dave and grandsons continue the fam-ily business of producing outstanding kitchen cutlery with the same expertise and fine craftsmanship. A world famous collection of wood and ivory carved models of steam

trains, were created by Ernest "Mooney" Warther. Mooney's first fifteen carvings were of bone and walnut. In 1923, he was able to purchase ivory. On fourteen of these, he recarved the bone pieces out of ivory. From then on, he carved walnut, ivory and ebony. The last ten years of his life he carved only in ivory.

MAID OF THE MIST BOAT RIDE AT NIAGARA FALLS Maid of the Mist is one of North America's oldest tourist attractions, and its history is resplendent with stories of daredevil rescues and visits from royalty. Standing at the bow, swathed in rain gear, you feel the mist lightly spray your face, you hear the rumble of the water, and you sense the vast power of it all. Enjoy free time on the observation platform and shopping area overlooking Horse-shoe falls.

SPECIAL LUNCH on the revolving tower! Overlooking the breathtaking view of the falls, the Revolving Dining Room, is at the height of dining excellence, featuring award-winning continental cui-sine for lunch or dinner. The dining room revolves one rotation hourly. Award winning continental cuisine is presented in an elegant setting 775 ft. above the Falls. Your meal is included as we have this wonderful dining ex-perience.

FLUME GORGE One of Franconia Notch's geological wonders, the Flume Gorge offers a spectacular 2 mile walk through a natural chasm on wide gravel paths and wooden walkways. Visitors travel through covered bridges, past waterfalls and through an 800 foot long gorge with its sheer 90 foot walls. Scenic pools, glacial boulders and mountain views abound. Bus service is provided July through mid-October to transport visitors to within 500 yards of the gorge entrance for a short 1/2 mile walk that takes in the most spectacular as-pects of this attraction. A free 15 minute movie at the Information Center provides a fine introduction to Franconia Notch State Park and the Flume Gorge. Area informa-tion center, rest rooms, cafeteria, gift shop and interpretive exhibits are all available at the Visitor Center. Franconia Notch was the home of the famous Old Man of the Mountain, the same "Great Stone Face" immortalized by Nathaniel Hawthorne and Daniel Webster.

MT. WASHINGTON Mount Washington, the highest peak in the northeastern U.S., attains an elevation of 6,288 feet above mean sea level, located at the heart of the White Mountain National Forest. Originally called Agiocochook by native Americans, the mountain boasts some of the planet's most se-vere weather, and retains the world record for wind speed, 231 MPH. The 52-acre Mount Washington State Park surrounds the summit, where visitors will find a multi-tude of old and modern buildings, once known as the 'City Among the Clouds'. Enjoy A drive by the famous Mt. Washington Resort.

We furnish all the pop, water, and snacks on the bus while we are traveling, at no extra cost to you. Our lodging is at very nice proper-ties, and we even make stops at Wal-Mart so we can stock up on va-

cation “supplies” (film, batteries, etc.) We hope you decide to go with us. Compare our 16-day trip to some of the others offered, and we

feel we are offering you a Class A trip – a trip of a lifetime.

LL BEAN FACTORY STORE L.L.Bean was founded in 1912 by avid hunter and fisherman Leon Leonwood Bean who had developed a water-proof boot he was selling to hunters. By 1912 he was selling the "Bean boot," or Maine Hunting Shoe, through a four-page mail-order catalog and the boot remains a staple of the company's outdoorsy image. This is LL Bean’s headquarters, and the store is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. There is no lock on the front door! PORTLAND HEAD LIGHT Historian Edward Rowe Snow wrote, "Portland Head and its light seem to symbolize the state of Maine -- rocky coast, breaking waves, sparkling water and clear, pure salt air." The 350,000 to 400,000 people who visit this site each year would agree; Portland Head is one of the most spectacularly beautiful lighthouse sites in New England, and the most photographed. COLONY HOTEL Built on a rock at the mouth of the Kennebunk River in 1914, the hotel remains a nautical landmark. Today, its oceanfront location is just minutes from former President George Bush's estate. Our home for the night is this historic hotel, which sits right on the Atlantic ocean, a beautiful view! This is your chance to order some Maine lobster!

Boston City Tour - Old North Church, Quincy Market, Harvard Campus, Cheers Bar, Faneuil Hall, State Capitol, oldest restaurant in U.S., historic cemetery, the Big Dig tunnel project and more! Our wonderfully humorous step-on guide, Cheryl, has been with us for seven years!

OLD NORTH CHURCH The enduring fame of Old North Church and its sure place in America's story derives from a fleeting moment on the night of April 18, 1775. It was then that the sexton, Robert Newman, climbed the stee-ple, and briefly hung the two lanterns which touched off the War for Independence. The lanterns, arranged for by Paul Revere, signaled the movement of Regulars up the Charles River to Cambridge to begin a march to Lexington and seize a cache of Colonial military stores. As the sig-nal was given, Revere was being rowed with muffled oars to the Charlestown shore; his subsequent dash on horseback, immortalized by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's Paul Reveres Ride, brought out the militia and the shot heard round the world was fired on Lexington Green the following day.

HARVARD CAMPUS Harvard College was established in 1636 by vote of the Great and General Court of Massachusetts Bay Colony, and was named for its first benefactor, John Harvard of Charlestown, a young minister who upon his death in 1638, left his library and half his estate to the new institution.

CHEERS BAR Founded in 1969 as the Bull & Finch Pub, the original inspiration for the setting of the TV show Cheers, was a favorite neighborhood bar. In fact, the year that the Cheers show premiered on television (1982) Boston Magazine chose the Bull & Finch Pub as the “Best Neighborhood Bar” in Boston.

PLYMOUTH Plymouth is a town in southeastern Massachu-setts, on Plymouth Bay, 34 miles southeast of Bos-ton. The seat of Plymouth County, it was the site of the first permanent European settlement in New England. Plymouth is now a fishing and tourist center with ship-related industries and cranberry-packing houses. Plymouth Rock, a tourist attrac-tion, is on the shore under a granite canopy; rec-reations of Plymouth Plantation and the Mayflower are also there. The pilgrims founded Plymouth on

Dec. 2 1, 1620. When we leave Plymouth, we usually get to see a cranberry bog.

MARTHA’S VINEYARD

Seven miles off Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard is a kaleido-scope of candy-colored gingerbread houses, pristine beaches, unique shops and stately white mansions. Today we will put “us and the bus” on a ferry to cross to the “Vineyard”. Our tour with a local guide will take us around the island. It includes a fifteen-minute stop at Aquinnah (Gay Head) to see its multicolored cliffs, its 200-year-old lighthouse, and its Native American stores. It also offers a twenty minute guided walk through the campgrounds in Oak Bluffs to visit its wonderful gingerbread, Victorian cottages. About half way through the tour, we will make an hour and a half stop in Edgartown, which was founded in 1642. This stop gives us time for lunch, shopping, and a chance to explore the oldest town on the Island, which was the center of the Vineyard whaling industry.

Newport, RI is our morning destination to immerse ourselves in a world of wealth and power, as it existed at the dawn of the 20th century. Discover the Gilded Age Experience in the grand villas of the powerful men and influential women who made Newport America's leading resort and a center of the arts and architecture. We will tour Breakers Mansion, the grand 70 room Italian Ren-aissance-style villa built by Cornelius Vanderbilt II, President and Chairman of the New York Central Railroad, after his first house burned down. This man is a brother to the Vanderbilt that owned the Biltmore Estate in Ashville, NC. The Breakers Mansion is the “Big House” to see in the northeast! Enjoy fantastic Ocean Drive, going by Jackie Kennedy’s childhood home, “Hammersmith Farms.”

Late afternoon we will arrive at Foxwood Resort Casino, where action, fun, and excitement come in groups. With five ca-sinos featuring over 5,800 slots and 350 tables, over 1,400 luxu-rious rooms and deluxe suites, 24 restaurants, 17 specialty shops, headline entertainment throughout the year, and nearby golf course, it's easy to see why having fun is not hard to do. This is the largest casino in the world and is only 100 miles from New York City. We will eat our dinner here before returning to our hotel which is located right on the Foxwood Casinos prop-erty.

YALE UNIVERSITY CAMPUS – NEW HAVEN Yale’s roots can be traced back to the 1640s, when colonial clergymen led an effort to establish a college in New Haven to preserve the tradition of European liberal education in the New World. This vision was fulfilled in 1701, when the charter was granted for a school “wherein Youth may be instructed in the Arts and Sciences [and] through the blessing of Almighty God may be fitted for Public employment both in Church and Civil State.” In 1718 the school was renamed “Yale College” in grati-tude to the Welsh merchant Elihu Yale, who had donated the proceeds from the sale of nine bales of goods together with 417 books and a portrait of King George I.

NEW YORK CITY Marriott Marquis – 2 nights in this hotel – A spectacular hotel in the middle of Times Square. Where the dazzle of Broadway meets the exhilaration of

Times Square, the spectacular New York Marriott Marquis introduces business, leisure an meeting travelers to the luxury of one of New York's most exceptional hotels. The hotel's thirty-eight story atrium is the highest in the world. Over eighty thousand square feet of meeting and exhibit space occupy the fourth through seventh levels of the hotel including forty-seven meeting rooms, ballrooms and an exhibition hall. Sleeping rooms at the New York Marriott Marquis start on the tenth floor and are the largest guest rooms in Manhattan. Go to the 46th floor to New York’s only rooftop revolving restaurant and have a cocktail, or better yet, dinner. Tour the City... Our step on guide, Martha, will take us on a city tour – upper and lower. This is the 8th year she’s done our tour; she is a native New Yorker and we love her! Some of the highlights of the tour may be: The To-day Show, Theater District, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, Fifth Avenue shopping district, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Central Park, Lincoln Center, Harlem, SoHo, Greenwich Village, Chinatown, Little Italy, Wall Street, Ground Zero and the Financial District. A Visit to Lady Liberty... We see her everyday of our lives as Lady Freedom atop the Capitol dome, an everyday back-drop to the evening news, or as the Statue of Liberty flashing across our TV screens in endless commercials and news spots. The silent, blank face of our "lady liberty"--wherever it appears--has become an omnipresent symbol of freedom to the people of the United States. Ferry to Ellis Island... The gemstone and focal point of Ellis Island is the 10,000 square foot Ellis Island Immi-gration Museum, housed in the island's main building. The museum's exhibit space is devoted to the history of Ellis Island and the story of Immigration to America from the arrival of the first immigrants to the present day.

Museum Highlights

Baggage Room - where the immigrants first set foot into the Main Building on Ellis Island. Restored with displays of period baggage

Wall of Honor - the American Immigrant Wall of Honor, with 420,000 entries, is the largest wall of names in the world

Peak Immigration Years is a 10-room exhibit that tells the larger story of immigrants, regardless of their port of entry. Displays explore the im-migrant experience: leaving the homeland, journeying to America, trav-eling across the land, establishing communities, working, adapting to American life, and becoming American citizens.

BROADWAY SHOWS There is a Broadway show included in the price of your ticket!

(Show will be announced at a later date) New York City’s Broadway theater district is considered by many to be the epitome of world-class stage talent and entertainment. Broadway shows in New York have included

famous productions over the years such as Phantom of the Opera (the longest-running Broadway production), Cats, and A Chorus Line, Jersey Boys, Wicked, Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, to name just a scant few. Broadway is a generic term that has grown to encompass more than just Broadway Street in New York City. It is an entire area on and adjacent to Broadway Street in midtown Manhat-

tan, in and around Times Square, and includes several theaters of varying sizes and popularity. Off Broadway shows and even Off-Off Broadway shows refer to the smaller productions located on these adjacent streets. You can book a 2nd show Saturday night on your own.

Gettysburg, PA –

Located 50 miles northwest of Bal-timore, the small town of Gettys-burg, Pennsylvania was the site of the largest Civil War battle ever waged in the Western Hemisphere. The Battle of Gettysburg opened on July 1, 1863 and closed two days later with the climactic "Pickett's Charge". It resulted in a

Union victory for the Army of the Poto-mac and success-fully turned back the second invasion of the North by General Robert E. Lee's Army of Northern Virginia. Over 51,000 soldiers were

killed, wounded or captured mak-ing it the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. It was also a major turn-ing point in the war. Historians have referred to the Bat-tle of Gettysburg as the "High Wa-ter Mark of the Confederacy." It was the last major effort by Lee to take the fighting out of Virginia and into north-

ern states. The Soldiers' National Cemetery at Gettysburg contains more than 7,000 interments includ-ing over 3,500 from the Civil War. It was here that President Abraham Lincoln delivered his immortal Get-tysburg Address on November 19,1863.

After our stop at Gettysburg, we will head south on 15 and west on I-70 to Hagerstown and south on I-81 across West Virginia through the Shenandoah Valley, and skirt the Blue Ridge Mountains to Staunton, VA for the night.

Shenandoah Valley Made famous by the song and movie of the same name, Shenan-doah is an Indian word meaning "Daughter of the Stars". The Shenandoah Valley of Virginia is ideal for a weekend of colorful leaf peeping. Usually about mid-October the mountains begin to shimmer with the reds and yellows of the maple, oak, hickory and dogwood trees. The Blue Ridge Parkway runs from North Carolina to Waynesboro, Virginia, where it becomes the Skyline Drive. The Skyline Drive runs for 105 miles through the Shenandoah National Park, and terminates in Front Royal. This stretch of highway is one of the nations most beautiful and intriguing stretches of road. The entire drive is dotted with beautiful overlooks and spectacular views. We don’t do the skyline drive because it is too time consum-ing, but drive the valley below it. We have a rest stop at Flying J truck stop and good luck getting Cindy back on the bus in time – we have to get her away from the “quarter machines!”

Tamarack Tamarack is the nation's first and only statewide collection of handmade craft, art and cuisine showcasing The Best of West Virginia. From hand-carved furniture to glass, and pot-tery to Appalachian quilts, Tamarack offers only the best. You will also find a delectable array of regional specialty foods and products, as well as performances, craft demon-strations, and theatre. Crossing the New River Gorge Bridge near Beck-ley, West Virginia For years crossing the New River gorge meant long de-tours, or carefully winding your way down narrow mountain roads. It was not until the completion of the New River Gorge Bridge on October 22, 1977, that this travel problem was solved. However, the solution was not an easy one. Many technical problems had to be overcome. The bridge reduced a 40-minute drive down narrow mountain roads and across one of America's oldest rivers to less than one minute. This is the 2nd longest bridge of this kind in the world. Drive through Charleston, WV with a beautiful view of the state capitol building.

in the center of Derby Day action. We will take a guided walking tour of Churchill Downs and the Museum's paddock area (weather permitting). The actual Finish Line pole used at Churchill Down for many years, as well as the grave sites of three fa-mous Kentucky Derby winners, Carry Back (1961), Swaps (1955) and Brokers Tip (1933) are located outside on the museum grounds. The gift shop features Derby and Thoroughbred memorabilia and historical books.

We eat lunch at the famous “Luigi’s” Italian Restaurant, listening to live

music as we dine.

Slugger Bat Factory Wow! The World's Biggest Bat! Made of steel, it weighs 68,000 pounds and stands 120-feet tall. The Big Bat is an exact-scale replica of Babe Ruth's 34-inch Louisville Slugger. Bud Hillerich's signature is on the Big Bat, a tribute to the man who turned the company's first bat. Stroll through the factory where world-famous Louisville Slug-gers are crafted with the same pride that started in 1884. Whether it's a personalized bat with your own name on it, or one destined for the big leagues, we make sure it's just right. You'll learn every step in the process, from a bat's bulky beginning to its finishing lacquer. After the tour you'll receive a free miniature Louisville Slugger! See a wooden bat turned on a lathe in 30 seconds. Many people buy per-sonalized bats for their grandchildren! Enjoy an hour entertainment at Dr. Ted’s Musical Marvels in Indiana.
