for colin and Nalini, their life goal has always been freedom – “a relaxed lifestyle with lots of time and of course, money well and truly taken care of”. over the years, they invested time and money in property, shares, small business and careers, but none were producing the results they wanted fast enough. No sooner had amway donated a generous $50,000 and much needed product to the victims of the recent Queensland floods, that there was a second emergency facing the state — a category-five cyclone that threatened to demolish several locales. Here are just two iBO stories of their experiences.

Derek and Chris Pingle were appointed by the Mayor and Council to coordinate and oversee the massive task of dealing with the logistics of incoming donations of goods (such as from amway) and distribution to the flood affected recipients. they watched as a 5m x 8m wall of water, two kilometres wide rushed below them at speeds of between 40 and 80 kilometres an hour. From there, it made its way to Brisbane with well-known results.

Declining the tag of heroes, they say “this is a very emotional and difficult time for so many families throughout our region. the true extent of the devastation is incredible. But we and the people of the Lockyer Valley are sincerely grateful for the generosity of companies like amway.”

Despite being touched by the worst cyclone in the state’s recorded history in February this year, townsville’s Kenny and Minnie Francis, with typical North-Queensland bravura, are still on track to enjoy their first achievers seminar in Fiji. Kenny described the sound of the cyclone as it passed over their (fortunately undamaged) townsville home “...as if a train was driving over the top of the roof...”. But typically, Kenny’s and Minnie’s attitude was that “...the business teaches you to focus on where you’re going instead of what you’re going through NOw. we couldn’t do anything about the cyclone,” Kenny comments. “apart from bolting the gazebo down and moving the boat, but we could do something about our people’s business goals so we focused on that.”
