February 3, 2017 Dear First Grade Parents, We have continued to work on Nun centers and learned the letter Samech. This week we learned the letter Samech ס. The words we learned are Sus (horse), S’na’ee (squirrel), Salat (salad) Chasah (lettuce), sod (secret), Kiseh (chair), and Saba & Savta (Grandpa & Grandma). The children get so excited when Ariot comes to visit. They knew so many Hebrew words that have a samech in them!! One word we learned was Salat. Next week I would like to have a Salat Bar in our classroom during a lunch period. It will be a perfect break from our ITBS testing. The children could have a Salat with their lunch in the classroom. Please sign up to send in an item for the salat bar In the email I will send later today. We are continuing to practice for Chagigat siddur. We are learning clothing words and have finished our Guf posters. Each child is becoming a published Hebrew author and is working on a book called “ Child’s Name Builds a Snowman” . They are very excited about this project! We have started placing Hebrew books on Mondays in the children’s green folders. Please have them read the story to you and send it back by the following Monday. This gives the children a week to read to you. We started learning about Tu’Beshvat last week. We took red kidney beans, ziplock bags, papertowels and water. We placed the paper towel in the ziplock, added five beans, and water and have been watching it sprout. Every morning the children run over to see how their Zerah (seed ) is sprouting. Ask your child about it. I told them they could do this at home also with any bean.

Dear First Grade Parents,

We have continued to work on Nun centers and learned the letter Samech. Each child is becoming a published Hebrew author and is working on a book called “ Child’s Name Builds a Snowman”.

This week’s parsha is Bo. This week’s big idea is “Hashem can change a very bad situation into a very good situation in a split of a second.” We also talked about is it good to give up? Parsha questions are in their green folders.

Please do not forget to save the date for Chag Hasiddur on Tuesday February 14th, 2017 at 9:00am. Your child got their parts taped to their green HW folder. Please make sure to practice their part with them. Each child needs to memorize their part for the play. Please make sure to read the emails I sent about what to wear to Chag Hasiddur.

I am monitoring the Tal Am online program once a week. Please make sure your child is finishing each letter completely. They can do up until Nun.
