_ .. \Var Emergenc)' Cert ificate "i\ W.H emergency certificate shall be issued by the S uperintendent of Public In­struction upon recommendation of teacher·training inst i tutions in the State, on the basis of four years of training including pract ice tcaching in a secondary institution for teaching in a secondary school or three years of training in an dementary training institution for teaching in an dementary school. This cer­tificate is in force during the manpower emergency Cas determ ined by the State Board of Education) and three years beyond, provided the teacher is continuously teaching on this certificate. It is understood that the granting of this certificate will cease when the State Board declares the manpower emergency at .1n end. The above training must have been completed on the basi, of at leas I three quarters rcsidrnce in the institution recommending the certificate. but it is not required to complete requirements for regular certification in the institution which recom­mended the certificate . B. Freezing of Certificates "Three-year e1ementar), certificates based upon three years of preparation shall be extended during the manpower emergency (as determined by the State Board of Education) and the holder thereof allowed one year beyond for the completio n of the 15 credit-renewal or six -year standard requirements. provided the reacher is continuously teaching on this certificate. REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL'S CREDENTIAL

A. Two Or mare years of thoroughly successful experience as principal of an elementary ,chao I of six or more teachers . (This provision applies anI)' to candidates who gained their experience prior to September I, 1936. the time ot which the State Board regula tion became effective. )

B. At least two ),ears of successful teach ing experience i.n the elementary school or the junior higb school plus eight semester hours of professional courses rclating to elementary "dministration and supervision taken subsequent to at least one ),ear of teaching experience . An element.1IY certific.He is a prerequis ite for an elementary principal ' s credentia l.

• 'at less than four semester hours of the requ ired number of credits must be from List A coveri ng at least two of the enumerated fields. The rema ining credits may be from ei ther list. Other courses within the field of e Irmentarl' education may 31so be offered subject to evaluation. All courses presented t�ward satisfying the requirements for an elementary principal 's credential must have been com­pleted within ten years prior to dine of application.
