The Allied Health industry is brimming with freshopportunities. But which ones are right for you?SMU-DE set out to answer this and many otherpertinent questions at a special workshop on StemCell Research and Emerging Trends in Healthcare. Atthe event SMU-DE students were invited to attendexclusive talks from industry experts along with lab visits.
The workshop explored the integration of all AlliedHealth Science sub-streams, like Lab Technology,Health Information Administration and Imagingtechnology along with Biotechnological advances andimplementation. Each session had highly interactivediscussions as students were challenged to gobeyond their textbooks and understand the industry.
At SMU-DE, we believe that an informed and vibrantfaculty makes learning interesting. Keeping this inmind, we organized an academic conference titledOnline and e-learning at the India InternationalCentre. The conference brought together all thecentre faculty and directors and provided them anopportunity to share views about distance and onlineeducation . In order to get a deeper insight intodistance education, the centre faculty also undertookresearch in the area of E-learning and presentedpapers on the same.

Theassessment systemhasbeen conceived,developed andadministered on a rigorous and fair basis to bring out the bestin students and prepare them for challenging careers.A student's performance is based on:a) Theory Papers:Theory part is assessed by the performance based oncontinuous evaluation through assignments and term-endexaminations conducted at the examination centers. The
assessment ratios for University Examinations (U.E) toassignments stipulated by the University.
b) Practical Papers (as applicable):The ratio U.E:I.A is 30:70 ( the ratio is reversed to give moreweightage to stage-wise acquisition of skills).
The assessment in practical part is based on theperformance in Guided Exercises (i.e., day-to-dayexercises) and Unguided Exercises the latter will beconducted at the last day of the practical sessions in eachsubject with an external examiner.
Based on the student's performance, the following gradingsystem will be adopted: A = Excellent (+70% ) B = Very Good (+60%) C = Good (+50% ) D = Satisfact ory (+40%)

Examination Results
Award of DegreeAll successful students will be awarded respective Diploma
/ Degree / PG Diploma / Masters Degree by the University.Right to amend rulesThe University reserves the right to add / delete / change / amend the syllabi, program structure, rules and regulationswherever considered necessary and appropriate withoutany prior notice. Thestudents are advised to go through thewebsite frequently where all circulars and importantinformation will be hosted from time to time. Promulgation ofany such information on the website in the form ofcirculars/notices is considered to be adequate.
Jurisdiction
All the disputes relating to the University programs andactivities are subject to Udupi, Karnataka, India jurisdictiononly.
The student is informed about the examination scheduleand Examination Centre through the admit card and alsothrough the website www.smude.edu.in. Eligible studentswill be given admit cards to appear in the Term -endexamination. Students will have to produce the identitycard and admit card to appear in the term-endexamination at the Examination Centre. The examinationpattern is available in the program guide provided to the
students.
The results will be published on the websitewww.smude.edu.in and the marks card will be sent to therespective centres. If a student fails to clear any of thepapers (either in UE or IA or both), she/he has tore-appear for the relevant paper by applying to theUniversity through the re-sitting application along withrelevant fees, within the due date speci ed by theUniversity.
A student must atleast get an average of 40% in both theparts and a minimum of 35% in each part.
