Dear Parents,

I am sure many of you have the book ‘1001 Books You Must Read

Before You Die’. I have been using this as a guide for my reading for a

number of years and, as a result, have greatly enjoyed reading such

books as, ‘Farenheit 451’, ‘The Time Traveller’s Wife’ and ‘Colorless

Tzukuru Tazaki’. I have to say I think they fully deserve their place on

the list. However, I recently finished ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ and I was

left wondering why it was included! Indeed, the film with Audrey

Hepburn and George Peppard was a struggle too and included a

totally changed ending to make it suitable for Hollywood. If you are

looking for something to read, perhaps avoid the latter, but the former titles are all

excellent.

So, tonight we have the PTA quiz. It will be a fine way of rounding off a short, but busy

week. One in which, I am happy to say, the trip to see Aladdin took place, after being

postponed due to snow.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Best wishes, TCW

Royal Wedding Celebrations Dair House School will be celebrating the Royal wedding next Friday 18th May.

Our wonderful chef has planned a picnic lunch, which will take the form of a street party.

Pupils and staff are invited to wear home clothes with a red, white and blue theme on the

day. No football shirts please. We hope the current good weather continues!

Choir Trip to Aladdin All the children who are in the Choir from Key

Stage 2 finally got to go on their trip to see the

West End production of Aladdin at the Prince

Edward Theatre. Their last trip on 1st March was

unfortunately cancelled due to snow!

This is following up on the Aladdin workshop that

they took part in back in February.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the amazing sets

and incredible special effects, not to mention

over 350 costume changes and all the songs from

the Disney classic. It was a ‘Whole New World’!

Teddy Bears’ Picnic Assembly Reception class brought their favourite teddy bears to

assembly this week and sang ‘The Teddy Bears’ Picnic’ by

John Walter Bratton (with lyrics by Jimmy Kennedy), whilst

performing the actions to the song as well! They displayed

their lovely coloured drawings and introduced their teddies

to us. A fabulous assembly to start the Summer term.

Y5/6 Rounders v Long Close Weren’t we lucky to play our first rounders match on such a

beautiful day? The games against Long Close were very exciting

and even though it was most of the girls first rounders

experience this year, the rules came back quickly and they

started to make excellent choices, run, throw or stop?

The A team drew 9 1/2 rounders each with Esha, Lowri and

Josie scoring whole rounders after super hits and running. The

B team also did very well and drew 11 rounders each with

Gabriella and Nosi finding early form hitting 3 rounders each

and Rosalind got one too. Well done everyone.

Music Award Congratulations to Zen,

Year 4, who passed The

Associated Board of The

Royal Schools of Music,

gaining grade 3 Piano,

with merit.

Joint PE Lesson

What a difference a

week makes! Last week

due to the inclement

weather Year 3 and

Reception had to have

their physical education

lessons together in the

school hall. But they all

had fun!
