Advertising in the school newsletterFrom time to time we have requests from groups and
individuals who want to place advertisements in the schoolnewsletter. There is usually a charge for such advertisingand some basic criteria we use to decide whether or not toaccept a request to place an advertisement include:
Advertising will only be printed if there is space afterschool notices have been placed
Advertising that competes with opportunities offeredby the school will probably not be accepted
Advertising that is commercial in nature will incur acharge
Advertisers may be charged for advertising if the
service/product they are offering involves a charge tomembers of their target audience
The school will exercise its discretion as to whichorganisations offering sports/activities will be charged.
After School ArrangementsCan you please ensure your children know what their afterschool arrangements are before they come to school. Wedo not liaise with after school providers that is a parent/caregivers responsibility.
Food For ThoughtEveryone is primed for the Food For Thought Programmewhich will take place on 20 August. The children from TheCenter for Children's Happiness (CCH) in Cambodia willbe most appreciative of efforts we make to support them.
Rugby World CupThrough the generosity of a Mr Hamish Fraser we haveavailable two tickets to two Nelson RWC games. Both lotsof tickets are in the South stand:September 20 Italy versus Russia 11 BB 49September 27 Italy versus USA 10 K 88
He has asked that the school should benefit in some way. Ifyou are interested in making a bid for the tickets pleasesubmit your name, contact details and offer in an envelope
to the school office by the end of August. The General Election is less than six months away enough time to becomeinformed on some of the issues facing the education sector.
Quality Public Education (QPE)Almost all New Zealand students start their schoolingjourney by attending a state funded school. It is important
therefore that their school should be the best available tothem.
Every child deserves to attend a quality local earlychildhood centre and school where their own identityand community is reflected and valued, where learningis culturally and geographically relevant to them, wheretheir family and whnau are valued and recognised and
they feel they belong.
Every child deserves to have quality learningopportunities because education is transformative: itempowers the individual but is also a force for the good
of society as a whole.
Every child deserves quality teaching and support sothat their individual needs are met and their potential is
realised.
As parents and educators, you and I know that every child isunique they learn at different rates and in different ways, they have different interests and strengths. The job of ourearly childhood centres and schools is to help them learn tothe best of their ability, so that every child has an education
that meets their diverse needs and fulfils their potential.
New Zealands education system is rated in the top handfulin the world (see newsletter of 22 June) but some childrenare still missing out. Thats why we need more investmentin education to meet every childs needs. We are keen tomake our great system the best in the world. We need moreinvestment in children, more investment in the partnershipbetween teachers and parents and whnau, and moreinvestment in people working in education in order to
achieve that.
