Call to Confession

Silent Confession

Prayer of Confession

Gracious God, we’d rather not admit it, but we are a mess. At the start of a new year, we’re brooding over old mistakes and fretting over all that could go wrong. We’re yearning for lives that matter and relationships that are authentic. We’re hiding behind secrets, or façades, or allusions of being “fine.”

Please don’t give up on us, O God. We need you. In our confession, listen to our longing to be different, to be changed, to be whole, to be forgiven. Amen.

Assurance of Pardon

* Response of Praise #492 Baptized in Water BUNESSAN

“What is Grace?”"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God."

(Ephesians 2:8)

Moment of Silent Meditation

We Give Thanks to God Affirmation of Faith The Apostles' Creed Rev. Karen L. Lang

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

Prayers of the People and the Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
