SHOWCASING THE CZECHMATES® DIAMOND™ Create an intriguing paern of CzechMates® Diamonds™ using a truly inventive technique that's similar to tubular herringbone stitch.

INSTRUCTIONS Note: A flat bird's eye view of the rope is shown in Steps 1–6 for illustration clarity.

1. Round 1: Add a stop bead to 3 yd of thread, leaving a 12" tail. Add A, C, C; repeat twice. Pass through the first hole of the first A added and the next C. Skip over the following C and pass through the outside hole of the next A. Orient the beadwork so that you are working counterclockwise.

2. Round 2: Add C, B; pass through the next C. Skip over the following C and pass through the outside hole of the next A.

3. Repeat Step 2.

4. Repeat Step 2 again. Change stitching direction by passing back through the outside hole of the last B added. Snug the thread tight to pull the beadwork into a tube; pulling back on the tail thread will also help hold the work.

5. Round 3: Working clockwise, add C, A; pass through the nearest C in the previous round and the outside hole of the next B. Repeat from the beginning of this step twice. Note: Make sure the third stitch is worked just like the two previous stitches; otherwise, you might accidentally step up for the next round through an incorrect bead. Change stitching direction by passing back through the outside hole of the last A added.

6. Round 4: Working counterclockwise, add C, B; pass through the nearest C in the previousround and the outside hole of the next A in the previous round. Repeat from the beginning of this step twice. Note: As before, make sure you aren't stepping up through an incorrect bead. Change stitching direction by passing back through the outside hole of the last B added.

Repeat Steps 5 and 6 (Rounds 3 and 4) thirty-eight times. In the final round, don't step up through the last B added. Tie off this thread; don't tie off the tail thread.

7. Join: Note: A flat side view of the ends is shown for illustration clarity. Remove the stop bead. Loosen Round 1 and pull on the tail to unweave the thread and remove three C (not shown); exit from an A. Add a needle to the tail thread. Making sure the rope isn't twisted, hold the beadwork so that the ends meet. Pass through the nearest C, B of the final round and the next C, A of Round 1; repeat twice. Repeat the thread path for strength. Tie off.
