When it is not practical to use a concretefoundation, you will nd that an 8" diameter holecut into rm soil with a post-hole digger will workjust as well. After the hole is dug carefully plumbthe foundation sleeve before tamping back-ll into the hole. All back-ll must be rmly tamped and compressed, layer by layer.

Prepare a hole in the ground 18" in diameter and25" deep. Fill bottom of hole with 3" of gravel andthen 3" of sand. Place PVC foundation sleeveinto hole and twist into the sand approximately 1".Temporarily insert bottom section of pole into thefoundation sleeve to plumb it. Brace foundationsleeve, then pour concrete around the sleeve to within 1" to 1 1/2" of the top. Be careful to keepthe inside of the foundation sleeve clean and freeof concrete. Re-plumb foundation sleeve before concrete sets. Allow concrete to cure at least 24 hours before installing agpole.

When concrete is not available at the installationsite you can use a large plastic wastebasket or pail as a concrete form. In this way you can castthe concrete foundation in one location and thenmove it to the job site for nal installation. Thewastebasket or pail should be 15" to 18" deep andat least 18" in diameter. If you decide to leave theform in place around the concrete when installingthe foundation be sure to cut an opening in thebottom of the plastic so that the butt of the agpole can contact the sand. When you placethe pre-cast foundation into the hole work it wellinto the sand before back-lling. All back-ll mustbe rmly tamped, layer by layer.

Slide sections together with the swedgedends extending upwards into the next section. The top section will always be theplain unswedged section, the second sectionfrom the bottom will always be a swedged section drilled for the rope cleat. The remaining section complete the agpole.Attach the cleat using the screws supplied.

Slide the bottom of the assembled agpoleinto the foundation sleeve aligning the truckand rope cleat in the desired direction. Adjustthe distance between the ag snaps to t the size of the ag being own. Attach the ag to the ag snaps and tie o rope onthe rope cleat.

Screw the ball stem tightly into the top of thetruck securing it into place with the stainless steel pan head screw. Thread the rope overthe pulley in the truck and tie each ag snapinto place about mid-rope using a simple overhand knot. Fasten truck to the top of the pole using a screw driver to tighten thestainless steel set screw. Make certain that the pulley in the truck is aligned over therope cleat.
