*THE APOSTLES’ CREED
I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; he descended into hell; the third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE AND THE LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever. Amen.
*THE DOXOLOGY AND PRAYER OF DEDICATION OLD HUNDREDTH Praise God from whom all blessings flow; Praise God all creatures here below; Praise God, ye saints, for evermore; Praise Triune God whom we adore. Amen.

THE PRELUDE My Song is Love Unknown arr. David N. Johnson
*THE CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: Praise the Lord! People: I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart, in the company of the upright, in the congregation. Leader: Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them, People: Full of honor and majesty is God’s work, and the Lord’s righteousness endures forever. Leader: God has gained renown by wonderful deeds; People: The Lord is gracious and merciful. Leader: Then let us worship God: creator, redeemer and sustainer. - Psalm 111:1-4
THE CALL TO CONFESSION
THE PRAYER OF CONFESSION
Holy God, sometimes in life we get a raw deal. Things don’t go our way. Someone lies. Someone takes advantage of us. It is easy then to turn aside from our calling. It is easy then to indulge ourselves to the detriment of others. It is too easy to wind up centered on ourselves and to forget your call to love our neighbors. In those moments, we are no better than those who have hurt us. Offered life-transforming discipleship, we turn away. But for you, nothing is final. Life is full of new beginnings, second and third and fourth starts. Forgive us, and turn us once more to you. Call us again, and give us the strength to follow. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen
THE ASSURANCE OF PARDON
Leader: Who is to condemn? People: It is Christ Jesus, who died, yes who was raised, who is at the right hand of God who indeed intercedes for us. Leader: Believe the promise of the gospel:
People: In Jesus Christ, we are forgiven. -Romans 8:34
*THE CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE (Hymn 361) Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed, for I am thy God, and will still give thee aid; I’ll strengthen thee, help thee, and cause thee to stand, upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand.
*THE PASSING OF THE PEACE
Leader: The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you all! People: And also with you.

FIRST FRIENDS
First Friends is a program that will pair current MPC members with those who have recently joined our church family. After someone joins the church, you as a First Friend will keep the new members informed about special events and programs the church offers. If you or your family would be interested in participating or learning more about the program, please give your name to one of the deacons who wear silver nametags.
SOCIAL MEDIA IS BUZZING
Morningside wants to connect to the community more than ever! Are you handy when it comes to Twitter and Instagram? If so, our communications team would like to expand MPC’s reach on social media and could certainly use your help! Volunteer to be a part of the communications team by contacting Daisy Ottmann [email protected]. HELP THE KINUMBE-BAUMA FAMILY Thanks to hard work by Morningside’s work crew on Saturday, July 15, a second location of the Mommy and Me preschool and adult literacy program for refugee families is set to open in August. Our friend and church member, Georgine Kinumbe-Bauma will be a student with her kids, Dorcas and Ezekiel. The location is in walking distance of her apartment at The Lakes but the roads are busy. It will be easier for her to get to class and back with the donation of a double stroller and rain cover. If you have either to donate, contact Katye Watts. But wait… if you’re unable to help that way, perhaps you can help in a different way. Does your family have any early reading games or electronic toys laying around? Bienfait Kinumbe is looking for some exposure to the building blocks of reading, and it would very helpful to provide him with a Leapfrog or similar device to use on his own time. He is still learning the phonetics of the alphabet and the English label for each letter, so any activities related to those skills are especially pertinent. Literacy will open up many opportunities for Bienfait and his family, one of which will be reading his Bible!

Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 4:6-7
