Brief Description of courses:

1. MSPIL: Microsoft Partners In Learning: ICT Skills for Teachers This course is the first in the pathway of courses on offer. It is contextually based on the role of

the teacher in the classroom. Each participant is able to work on ICT-use scenarios that best suit

his/her needs and interests. Participants’ different levels of confidence and ICT experience are

acknowledged which allows for each participant to work on ICT-based scenarios that best suit

his/her skill level.

2. Moodle Basics To prepare participants to participate in blended training a course in Moodle Basics is offered.

Participants attend f2f session and participate in the chat; forum; submit a document online via

1 ICT Integration Post filled. As of 2015 every course offered at CTLI must include and model ICT Integration

the assignment drop box; view and attempt the Moodle Classroom activities and complete the

online survey feedback.

3. Web Quest Educators and district officials who have already mastered the basic ICT competencies

of the levels offered in the MS PIL and who are now ready to advance to project-based

learning activities. The blended course is offered as a two day traditional face to face

sessions separated by at least three weeks of online support and collaboration.

The Web Quest course introduces teachers to a simple template for implementing ICT

integrated projects in the classroom. Web Quests are learner-centred and inquiry-based;

they promote higher order thinking skills and challenge learners to participate in real

world issues. Learners adopt different perspectives to these issues which forces them to

work in teams and think critically. The course is designed to help teachers understand

the nature of the Web Quest, find examples online, evaluate them, analyse them and

adapt them for their own use. Participants complete their Web Quest online and scorm it

as a learning object for sharing within the LMS.

4. Intel Teach Essentials Educators and district officials who have already mastered the more advanced ICT

competencies offered in the Web Quests and who are now ready to integrate ICT’s into

the teaching and learning activities. The blended course runs over a two day traditional

face to face sessions separated by at least three weeks of online support and

collaboration.

5. E-Content Development This will involve Curriculum Advisors and their Lead teachers who need to develop

and/or transform existing subject matter into digital learning objects for use by all in their

respective learning areas.

small percentage of the totals trained in 2013_14 and 2014_15 would be departmental officials re:

Curriculum Advisors. The bulk would be teachers. The details of the participants would be reflected on

the registers residing at each of the districts.
