PRE-ENGINEERED LOADING PLATFOR STRUCTURE: 1. THE INFORMATION PROVIDED IN THESE PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS ARE PEFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE LOADING PLATFORM. THEY INDICATE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS SET BY THE DEPARTMENT OF LAND AND NATURAL RESOURCES (DLNR) FOR THIS PROJECT. 2. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT SHOP DRAWINGS FOR THE LOADING PLATFORM STRUCTURE INCLUDING MISCELLANEOUS METALS, CONNECTION HARDWARE, MILL CERTIFICATIONS, DECKING MATERIALS, FENDERS, CLEATS, BEARING DESIGN, ANCHOR BOLTS, INSERTS, AND ALL OTHER PERTINENT ITEMS NECESSARY TO PROVIDE A COMPLETE LOADING PLATFORM STRUCTURE. 3. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL RETAIN AND PAY FOR SERVICES OF A STATE OF HAWAII LICENSED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER WITH A QUALIFIED OCEAN ENGINEERING BACKGROUND TO PREPARE THE CALCULATIONS, DETAILED PLANS, AND SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE LOADING PLATFORM STRUCTURE. THE LICENSED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER SHALL BE CONSIDERED THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER OF RECORD (SER) FOR THESE CONSTRUCTION ITEMS. THE MANUFACTURER/DOCK SER IS RESPONSIBL FOR SPECIFYING THE LAYOUT, MEMBER SIZES, AND DETAILS OF THE LOADING PLATFORM STRUCTURE BASED ON THE STIPULATED LOADS/DESIGN DATA OF THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS AS WELL AS THE APPLICABLE DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS. ADDITIONAL DESIGN SPECIFICATION CRITERIA MAY BE USED BY THE SER AS DEEMED NECESSARY, WITH APPROVAL FROM THE OWNER'S ENGINEER, SO LONG AS IT IS AN APPROPRIATE AND NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED PUBLICATION. ALL INFORMATION INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, MATERIAL SPECIFICATIONS, DIMENSIONS, AND GEOMETRY AS SHOWN IN THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS SHALL BE USED AS DESIGN PARAMETERS AND INCORPORATED INTO THE DESIGN OF THE LOADING PLATFORM STRUCTURE. ADDITIONALLY, THE SER SHALL ACCOUNT FOR MOORING AND BERTHING LOADS IN THE DESIGN OF THE LOADING PLATFORM LATERAL BRACING SYSTEM. ALL SITE SPECIFIC NATURAL CONDITIONS SUCH AS WIND SPEED, WIND DIRECTION, CURRENT SPEED, WATER LEVELS, AND WAVES SHALL BE ACCOUNTED FOR BY THE SER, AS NECESSSARY. SEE SHEET C-7 FOR MINIMUM DESIGN CRITERIA FOR THE LOADING PLATFORM TO BE USED IN THE SER'S ANALYSES. 4. THE EXISTING STEEL SUPPORT STRUCTURES ARE CONSIDERED BY DLNR TO BE ADEQUATE TO SUPPORT THE PROPOSED LOADING PLATFORM STRUCTURE AND MOORING/BERTHING LOADS. THE SER WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE TO GUARANTEE THE EXISTING STEEL SUPPORT STRUCTURES STRUCTURAL ADEQUACY.
