OPEN PUBLIC MEETING STATEMENT: This meeting is being held in conformity to the Open Public Meetings Act N.J.S.A. 10:4-6 et. seq. Proper public notice of the meeting was published in the local papers on March 9 and March 10, 2013. If any Board member or member of the public in attendance believes that the meeting is in violation of the Open Public Meetings Act, the Hoboken Board of Education requests that they make a statement at this time. The Board wishes to make those in attendance aware that this meeting is being recorded on video and will be broadcast by the Board at a later date on CATV Channel 77. RESOLUTION NO. RESOLUTION NO. GP-0017-12-13 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF 2013-2014 HOBOKEN SCHOOL DISTRICT CALENDAR RESOLVED, that the Board of Education, upon recommendation of the Superintendent, approves the following Hoboken School District Calendar for the 2013-2014 school year which contains 181 pupil days. (The calendar has been reviewed by the President of the Administrator's Association as well as the President of the Teachers' Association.) RESOLUTION NO. GP-0018-12-12 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF GUEST SPEAKER AT HOBOKEN HIGH SCHOOL RESOLVED, that the Board of Education, upon recommendation of the Superintendent, approves Hoboken High School to host Linda Taft, from the Institute for Relationship Intelligence, to speak to 8th, 10th and 11th graders. The dates for these presentations are April 12th & 19th and May 3rd, 10th, 16th, 23rd and 30th, 2013. Cost is $3,000.00 using budget line #20-436-200-800-13-0251-000-7993 pending Div. of Children and Families with funds from the SBYSP Program. RESOLUTION NO. GP-0019-12-13 SUBJECT: NON-RENEWAL OF CATAPULT WHEREAS, Catapult Learning, LLC is a private provider of a preschool program in District pursuant to a Preschool Education Program Contract with the Board for the period July 1, 2012 through June 30, 2013; and WHEREAS, the Superintendent and the Director of Early Childhood Education are not recommending a renewal of the Preschool Education Program Contract with Catapult for a variety of reasons, which have been discussed with Catapult; and WHEREAS, pursuant to paragraph X of the Preschool Education Program Contract with Catapult, the Board must give Catapult written notice prior to May 1, 2013 of its intent not to renew the contract for the following school year along with a reason for the determination not to renew. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Hoboken Board of Education approves the Superintendent’s recommendation not to renew the Preschool Education Program Contract with Catapult for the 2013-2014 school year and directs the Superintendent to provide written notice to Catapult of such nonrenewal, along with the reasons for same.

RESOLUTION NO. GP-0021-12-13 SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF WORKSHOPS RESOLVED, that the Board of Education, upon recommendation of the Superintendent, approves the following workshops: WHEREAS, N.J.A.C. 6A:23B-1.1 et. seq. requires that each board of education adopt a formal policy and procedures relating to travel and expense reimbursement for its employees and board members; and WHEREAS, the School District of the Hoboken Board of Education (the “Board”) adopted a Travel Expense Reimbursement Policy that addresses the reimbursement of travel-related expenses by Board members and employees of the District; and WHEREAS, the Board has considered all other relevant guidelines and circulars associated with the adoption of its Travel Expense Reimbursement Policy; and WHEREAS, the Board has determined that the travel listed in this Resolution is educationally necessary and fiscally prudent; and WHEREAS, the Board has concluded that the travel and expense reimbursement listed in this Resolution are directly related to and within the scope of the employee’s current responsibilities; and WHEREAS, the Board has determined that the travel and expense reimbursements listed in this Resolution are for travel that promotes the delivery of instruction or furthers the efficient operation of the school district; and WHEREAS, the Board has concluded that the travel and expense reimbursement listed in this Resolution are in compliance with State travel reimbursement guidelines as established by the Department of Treasury and incorporated herein; THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6A:23B and Board Policy and upon the recommendation of the Superintendent, that the School District of the Hoboken Board of Education, in the County of Hudson, New Jersey, approves travel requests as listed.

GRANTS RESOLUTION NO. GR-0001-12-13 SUBJECT: APPROVAL TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE TO BE THE SPONSORING AGENCY IN THE CHILD AND ADULT FOOD CARE PROGRAM RESOLVED, that the Hoboken Board of Education enter into an agreement with the Department of Agriculture, to be the sponsoring agency in the Child and Adult Food Care program Grant through which eligible District programs, serving students pre-K through 12, will be able to seek reimbursement for “At Risk” snacks offered to student participants, up to the maximum amount being offered. Snack program expenses over and above the Dept. of Agriculture’s reimbursement will be budgeted through the qualifying program budget, and/or the District with the Board approval
RESOLUTION NO. GR-0002-12-13 SUBJECT: PROJECT SERV GRANT APPLICATION RESOLVED, that the Hoboken Board of Education grants permission to apply for federal funds to support learning environments disrupted by Hurricane Sandy for the purpose of reimbursing the District for qualified eligible expenses incurred which otherwise are not covered by insurance or FEMA. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that, in accordance with federal regulations requiring equitable services to nonpublic schools, the District has collaborated and consulted with its five (5) nonpublic schools, two (2) of which have elected to participate in the grant. BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that a successful application will be funded to the extent that funds are available. If the total number of approvable applications exceeds the available funds, District awards will be prorated and adjusted accordingly.
