Identifying Type 2 Diabetes:
Type 2 Diabetes is a lifestyle disease in which there are high levels of glucose in the blood.
Role of Diet The main goal is to lose weight,
so Type 2 Diabetics have to monitor their diet closely.
Role of MedicineIt is not uncommon to take more than one drug at a time, and they can be used at the same time as insulin.
Role of Family It can be difficult to keep track of everything (blood sugar levels, insulin, exercise, etc.)
Statistics By the year 2050, approximately 1 in 3
adults. The Majority of people diagnosed with
Type 2 are over 40 years of age. Adolescents who are diagnosed are
generally between 10 and 19. Mostly seen in non-white ethnic groups
(with American Indian adolescents at greatest risk.)
