NUTRITION EVALUATION: 12/1/2010PATIENT: C., REYNA

Thank you for choosing our office to perform your functional blood chemistry analysis. This report will explain the findings of your blood test, explain any patterns that are present, and give you a plan for improving your health. At the end you will see your lab tests broken down into a chart and interpreted compared to the ‘healthy or optimal” ranges, and you will also see the standard ‘clincal’ values. You will also see dietary recommendations, exercise recommendations, and supplement recommendations.

Your supplement recommendations will be broken down to the supplement type and amount based on your age, weight, and sex. Remember, the recommendations that I give you in this report have not been evaluated by the FDA, and no claims to curing or treating a disease are being made. Furthermore, at no time am I advising you to discontinue or decrease any medications that your medical doctor has placed you on, as that decision can only be made by a discussion between you and the prescribing doctor. I also recommend that you discuss the results of this analysis with your primary doctor for a second opinion. Should you have questions about this report or the recommendations, please feel free to email me or call the office.

Also, remember that following this plan will take time for you to notice the changes in your health. Usually the first two months of changing your habits and incorporating the supplements will have ups and downs. Don’t get discouraged if you can’t follow all the dietary guidelines or exercise guidelines exactly. They are a template that you will use to build healthy lifestyle changes. The supplements and dietary changes that are recommended here are not necessarily what you will be doing for the rest of your life. Your plan will be modified when we do your follow up blood test, symptom survey, and evaluation.

However, for optimal health, you can never return to your old habits, or your health will return to how it was before. If you do “fall of the wagon”, don’t stress about it, as we all have setbacks. Simply make better choices at your next meal, and make sure you don’t skip your supplements next time. Also, some people feel worse before they get better. If your inflammation levels are very high, or if you have an overgrowth of bacteria and yeast, or if you have addictions to certain foods (caffeine, sugar, etc), you may notice problems initially, such as fatigue, headaches, upset stomach. They are normal, but please contact me if you do have them so I can help you through it and answer any questions you have. Also, if you are on any antibiotics at the time of this report, or if you are placed on them or a new medication while taking the supplements, please be sure to let your medical doctor know what you are taking. Many antibiotics will have interactions with magnesium, so you cannot take certain supplements while on antibiotics. Also, if you are going to have a surgical procedure, be sure to let your surgeon know what supplements you are taking, as they may recommend that you stop for a few weeks because certain supplements can thin the blood which can cause complications for surgery (vitamin C is one blood thinner).

One of the biggest problems in western medicine is that it is really disease management and crisis intervention. This is fine if you have a serious accident or severe disease that needs major intervention such as drugs or surgery. However, if you are looking to improve your health and energy, and truly prevent disease and illness, there is no system in place. So many times patients complain that they feel terrible or have less energy or ability to concentrate than they used to, yet all of their tests come back ‘normal’. Screenings such as mammograms and prostate exams are called preventative, but what they actually are is early detection that catches disease at a state where it requires medicine or surgery but in a smaller amount. In contrast, the method that we use here can catch patterns that are developing much earlier, before they are even detectable by traditional diagnostics, and determine what lifestyle factors may be causing them, and give you a system of healthy habits, foods, and supplements to truly practice prevention and wellness. This is true prevention, wellness, and longevity care. Congratulations on investing in your health now instead of waiting until later!

INTERPRETING ALL TEST RESULTSYour test results are color coded for ease of analysis:Yellow = values are outside the healthy range but still within the clinical rangeRed = values are outside the clinical rangeBlue = values extremely higher or lower than the clinical range limits. These are considered in the ‘critical’ or ‘alarm’ ranges in functional analysis.

INTERPRETING BLOOD LAB RESULTSOn the blood test results page found later in the report, you'll notice two columns on the right side of the page labeled"Optimal/Healthy Range" and “Clinical Range". The clinical range is used by the medical community. Any values outside thisrange are indicative of a disease process. The way that the clinical range is determined is by applying the bell curve to all the values within the population of people. This means that 96% of people will have their values fall within the bell curve of

C,, REYNA 1

Page 2: Web viewYour supplement recommendations will be broken down to the supplement type and amount based on your age, weight, and sex. Remember, the recommendations that I

“normal”, while 2% will be high and 2% will be low. These values have changed from year to year based on the average health of the US population and on other factors. You will also see that certain labs have different ‘normal’ values than other labs. What also occurs with applying the bell curve is that the sicker the population gets on average, the wider these ranges become so that 96% will stay within that range.

The Healthy Range that we use is much narrower than the Clinical Range. These values are not affected by the bell curve, so as society gets sicker, they do not move. There is some difference in opinion as to what the optimal ranges are, so they are not ironclad and there is some controversy over their use to improve health. However, they do give us a more sensitive method for uncovering the roots of your problems. Additionally, we do not just evaluate for high and low and then give recommendations to ‘correct’ a test. We also look for patterns that are occurring in your lab values that illustrate how various organs and systems are functioning in the body so that the appropriate dietary and supplementation changes can be implemented to restore optimal functioning. Test values outside of the Healthy Range indicate results which are not as good as they should be, and the tighter guidelines of the Healthy Range allow us to see signs of any developing diseases/conditions BEFORE they become more serious where they might require medications or other interventions to correct them.

INTERPRETING HAIR LAB RESULTSA hair analysis was not performed on you initially. However, it is a good idea to perform an analysis to see if you do have any kind of heavy metal burden. Additionally, the test can also determine your tissue levels of minerals, which, especially in the case of magnesium, can be very different than your blood levels.

The hair analysis screening is looking for essential, nonessential and potentially toxic elements. These elements are irreversibly incorporated into growing hair. The amount of each element found in the hair is proportional to levels in other body tissues. This makes the hair analysis a suitable indirect screening for physiological excess, deficiency or maldistribution of elements in the body. All screening tests have limitations which must be taken into consideration. Scalp hair is vulnerable to external contamination by water, hair treatments and other products, as well as the testing itself. The data provided by a hair analysis should be considered in conjunction with symptoms, diet analysis, occupation and lifestyle, water source, physical examination and the results of other laboratory tests. It is not a stand alone diagnostic tool.

However, accepting these limitations, hair analysis can provide useful insights into the toxic load and biochemical condition of the body. For each elevated toxic element in the hair, the most common sources of exposure are listed in the report. Due to pollution, our industrial culture and other environmental factors, it is impossible to completely eliminate your exposure to some toxic elements. However by knowing the sources of toxins elevated in your body, you can work to reduce your exposure, thus lessening the total toxic burden on your body. Additionally, knowing the sources can help you prevent from continuously accumulating more toxins.

DIAGNOSTIC FINDINGS

The topics in RED had values outside of normal and optimal ranges and are listed first because they are the most important.

INTESTINAL PARASITESThis is suggested by your high eosinophils that were over a level of 3. More evidence comes when we look at the fact that your white blood cells were low as well, and your basophils were slightly elevated, and your erythrocyte sedimentation rate was high (an indication of inflammation).

These are a common problem that can be difficult to diagnose. For confirmation, we would most likely want to do a stool analysis. However, many times the test will be inconclusive or even negative for parasites even when you have them. Or, we can simply have you take some supplements that can clear them out. The risk of parasites is increased if you own house pets or live or work around animals. Parasites can be transmitted between family members. Rates are increased in people who travel outside of the US, especially if you drink untreated water.

RECOMMENDATIONS: This is mostly an “avoid” recommendation. First, avoid sushi as it is one of the highest sources of parasites. Additionally, rare meats are sources. If you have animals in the house with you, these are common sources as well. The supplement Paradex is good for removing the parasites.

VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY

C,, REYNA 2

Page 3: Web viewYour supplement recommendations will be broken down to the supplement type and amount based on your age, weight, and sex. Remember, the recommendations that I

Your vitamin D levels are low and are even beneath the standard ranges. The ideal levels should be between 60 and 80, but less than 100.Yours is only 12.4. In fact, it is one of the lowest ones we have seen in our office so far. Along with this, your calcium levels are below optimal. Vitamin D is necessary for proper utilization of calcium, and is important for normal immune function and cancer prevention. Without adequate vitamin D you will continue to have low levels even if you supplement with calcium. Low vitamin D is also connected with inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis and can cause generalized body pains and affect hormone formation and function.

Vitamin D also protects against muscle weakness and is involved in regulation of the heartbeat. From your intake you listed muscle fatigue, weakness, tremors as problems you are having, which can be caused by low vitamin D. It is important in the prevention of osteoporosis, enhances immunity, and is necessary for normal thyroid function and blood clotting.. When there is a liver or kidney dysfunction there is a greater risk for osteoporosis, because the liver and kidneys are needed to turn vitamin D into its active form.

Recently a report has been issued that claims that most Americans get enough D from their diet and that taking extra D does not help reduce disease or illnesses and that excess D can be dangerous. You have probably read about this on the internet. At no time do they mention how they determined any of these findings. Therefore, I still stand behind the interpretation used here, which states that levels under 30 are insufficient and need to be elevated. As long as we continue to test your D levels and make sure they do not go over 100, most of the current research says there is not a health issue. I highly recommend that you read Dr James Dowd’s book. “The Vitamin D Cure” for more information on this topic and to make an informed decision. In my opinion, the risks of being deficient or insufficient in D far outweigh the risks of D supplementation, as long as your levels are monitored and your dosage is appropriate for your blood levels.

SUPPLEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS:Vitamin D • safe exposure to sunlight (see section on Sun exposure)

FOOD RECOMMENDATIONS-Fish liver oils, dairy (only use organic), and eggs are the main sources. It is also found in buter, dandelion greens, liver, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, sardines, salmon, and tuna. Herbs like alfalafa, horsetail, nettle, and parsley also contain D.

ANEMIAThere are several types of anemia, with the most common being iron deficiency, and B6 or B12/Folate deficiency. Because you a high mean corpuscular volume and a high mean corpuscular hemoglobin rate, you fall into the pattern of B12/Folate anemia. This is most likely caused by the intestinal parasite, which will affect absorption.

B12 and folic acid are needed for proper nucleus development. Deficiency of B12/Folate occurs for the following reasons:1- Decreased ingestion, such as with a vegan diet2- Impaired absorption. Such as from hydrochloric acid need, hypochlorhydria, malabsorption, intrinsic factor deficiency,

pernicious anemia3- Competitive parasites, such as tapeworms from fish or other meats4- Increased requirements. Such as chronic pancreatic disease, pregnancy, or hypothyroidism5- Impaired utilization. Such as enzyme deficiencies, abnormal binding proteins

For confirmation, you could have your B12 levels tested. However, since it is a water soluble vitamin it is relatively safe to supplement with sublingual B12/folate. The sublingual form is better absorbed than the form in a standard swallowed pill.

B12/Folic acid is important for utilization of iron, proper digestion, carb and fat metabolism, cell formation and longevity. It also prevents nerve damage, maintains fertility, and maintains the protective myelin sheaths around the nerves. The neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which assists memory and learning, requires B12. Deficiencies can also cause balance problems, abnormal gait, fatigue, constipation, depression, digestive disorders, dizziness, hallucinations, headaches, tongue inflammation, irritability, labored breathing, memory loss, moodiness, nervousness, nerve damage, palpitations, ringing in the ears, and spinal cord degeneration.

RECOMMENDATIONS- Sublingual B12/Folic acid. Digestive enzymes for better nutrient absorption.

FOOD SOURCES- sources of B12 include eggs, brewer’s yeast, liver, mackerel, seafood, clams, and milk/dairy. If you do decide to include dairy in your diet, make sure it is always from an organic source to avoid the pesticide, antibiotic, and hormone contamination of conventional dairy.

CORONARY RISK ASSESSMENTTotal Cholesterol: 210 OPTIMAL HDL Cholesterol- 75.7 OPTIMAL

C,, REYNA 3

Page 4: Web viewYour supplement recommendations will be broken down to the supplement type and amount based on your age, weight, and sex. Remember, the recommendations that I

LDL Cholesterol: 114.3 HIGH VLDL Cholesterol: 20 OPTIMALCoronary Risk Assessment: 2.77- PROBABLY PROTECTED

Your profile actually looks great! Even though your LDL was just outside of optimal, your good cholesterol was so good that it counteracts it. The coronary risk is determined by taking the total cholesterol and dividing it by the HDL. To reduce your risk ofcardiovascular problems a value below 4 is recommended. The Total Cholesterol is determined by adding the HDL, LDL, and VLDL together. Cholesterol is critical for the following functions: 1) cellular membranes, where it helps regulate membrane fluiditiy and intracellular communication, 2) myeling sheaths, where it provides for the structure in the nervous system to help regulate nerve transmission, 3) steroid hormones, such as adrenal hormones, sex hormones, and vitamin D. Low cholesterol can place a stress on the immune system, nervous system, and cardiovascular system.

Recent studies have shown a correlation between a high HDL and longevity. Think of HDL as the Healthy cholesterol and generally the higher the better. HDL cleans up the arteries of cholesterol. In your case, the HDL is optimal, which is over 55.

LDL is commonly known as the ‘bad’ cholesterol, as it tends to plug the arteries. Factors that can make LDL more likely to clog up arteries include chronic infections, inflammation, and free radicals. Your LDL was just barely outside of the optimal ranges.

Recent studies show that there are 2 types of LDL, one that is a large molecule and one that is small. These studies suggest that the large LDL has some very important functions for the immune system, and has been shown to be able to help neutralize MRSA. The VLDL, which is the small molecule, is the Very worst cholesterol and is more like sludge. It is very sticky and can very easily attach to arterial walls. Your VLDL is very high and is the biggest concern that I have right now in this section. Lower is better for the LDL and VLDL in determining coronary risk and overall health. However, what is extremely important regarding cholesterol is preventing the oxidation of it, which makes it more likely to cause plaques, and also decreasing inflammation in the body, which also facilitates plaques. In your case, your overall health could be improved by getting your LDL into the optimal range. Other than that, your coronary profile is excellent! In fact, you have the best HDL level I have seen in all the tests so far!.

Nutrients Recommended: OPTIONAL- in your cast this would be purely preventiveEPA/DHA (Omega 3 fatty acids) • Alpha lipoic acid •antioxidants • Garlic • Niacin • chromium picolinate • Vitamin C 3000 mg • E 800 IU • CoQ10 300 mg • L-carnitine 1500 mg • selenium 30 mcg • magnesium 300 mg. Follow diet guidelines later in report

FOOD RECOMMENDATIONS- see diet section later in report

DIGESTIVE DYSFUNCTION and INFLAMMATIONI know that you have a history of digestive issues and that you have the intestinal parasite, and this also shows up in your blood work as evidenced by your high ESR, low phosphorus, and high albumin. Intestinal bloating and gas are often caused by gases released by the opportunistic bacteria, by your digestive enzymes not properly breaking down the foods, and by parasites interfering with digestion. Many times people will start taking extra fiber or colon cleansers to try to clear out the intestines. This can actually make the problem worse initially, especially in your case because you have high inflammation. The excess fiber can actually block the intestine more and create more pain and inflammation. When you have high levels of inflammation like you do, adding fiber to your diet is like placing a wool sweater on sunburned skin…it can really irritate it. Therefore, I am recommending a different approach for you to try to improve your digestion and get your intestines functioning normally again. This will help the health of your whole body.Nutrients Recommended:Digestive enzymes (Ultrazyme from Douglas Labs) • Broad spectrum pro-biotic • eliminate all dairy (includes milk, cheese, ice cream) follow the dietary recommendations later in the report. • inflavanoid •lauricidin Follow parasite recommendations •bromelain

GENERALIZED INFLAMMATION Your erythrocyte sedimentation rates (ESR) was outside of the optimal range. This is an inflammatory marker. What this means is that you have some non-specific inflammation going on in your body at the time of testing. Long term chronic inflammation can lead to chronic illness and pain, as well as an increased rate of heart disease and cancer. This is commonly seen in digestive dysfunction/intestinal parasite cases like yours, where the gut will become inflamed from digestive problems. This will commonly increase pain levels in the muscles.SUPPLEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS- turmeric, ginger, vitamin C, EPA/DHA, digestive enzymes, Lauricidin (made from coconut monolaurins, which have natural antibiotic, antiviral, and antifungal properties), also milk thistle and the liver supplements in the next section. Also follow the intestinal parasite section.

FOOD RECOMMENDATIONS- follow the anti-inflammatory guidelines detailed later in this report.

Page 5: Web viewYour supplement recommendations will be broken down to the supplement type and amount based on your age, weight, and sex. Remember, the recommendations that I

MILD LIVER CONGESTION AND DYSFUNCTION OF THE BILARY TREE OR PANCREASThe SGOT was just a little below the optimal range. In your case, this is most likely due to liver congestion. This can affect the body’s ability to detoxify itself, and can affect your triglyceride levels. This can also produce pain between the shoulder blades, stomach upset by greasy foods, headache over the eye, easy intoxication, sensitivity to chemicals/perfumes/solvents, fatigue, and hemorrhoids/varicose veins.

SUPPLEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS Methionine and cysteine, amino acids, can help detoxify the liver. Milk thistle (silymarin) has flavanoids that aid in healing and rebuilding the liver. Raw liver extract, and CoQ-10 have also been shown to be beneficial for liver congestion. Also follow the parasite recommendations.Silymarin (Milk Thistle) • Vitamin C • lauricidin • liver glandular • alpha lipoic acid •garlic•inflavanoid •phosphotidylcholine •thiamine •vitamin E succinate •digestive enzymes • beta carotene

General Recommendations:Include as many raw fruits and veggies as possible. Artichokes help protect the liver, as do carrot juice and beet juice. Avoid all alcohol and processed foods or foods with chemical additives. Burdock and dandelion, such as in tea form, have been shown to be beneficial to the liver. Licorice has also been shown to be effective for the liver and for any possible viral infections. You should not take licorice, however, for more than 7 days in a row or if you are taking blood pressure medications or have heart problems.

ZINC DEFICIENCYThis is illustrated by your low alkaline phosphatase level, and is probable also caused by the intestinal parasite. Zinc is important in males for prostate gland function and in both sexes for the growth of reproductive organs. It may help prevent acne and regulate the activity of oil glands. It is required for protein synthesis and collagen formation, promotes a healthy immune system, wound healing, and enhances taste and smell. It also protects the liver from chemical damage and is vital for bone formation. It is a constituent of insulin and is important in many enzyme functions, such as the antioxidant superoxide dismutase. Zinc is needed to maintain the proper concentration of vitamin E in the blood, and it increases absorption of vitamin A.

Symptoms of deficiency include the following: 1) weak, thin, or peeling fingernails or white spots in the fingernail 2) acne3) delayed sexual maturation 4) fatigue 5) impaired growth 6) high cholesterol 7) hair loss 8) impaired night vision 9) impotence 10) susceptibility to infections 11) memory impairment12) propensity to diabetes 13) prostate problems 14) recurrent colds and flu 15) skin lesions16) slow wound healing

In addition to your blood test, we can do the zinc tally taste test in the office. When your zinc levels are low, tasting water with zinc in it has no flavor. As your levels increase to normal, the water will have a very strong taste.

RECOMMENDATIONS- Zinc supplementation of 100 mg for 30 days. Digestive enzymes. Sublingual B12. And follow the parasite recommendations.

FOODS RECOMMENDED- brewer’s yeast, egg yolks, fish, kelp, lamb, legumes, lima beans, liver, meats, mushrooms, oysters, pecans, poultry, pumpkin seeds, sardines, seafood, soy, sunflower seeds, whole grains. Herbal sources are alfalfa, burdock root, cayenne, chamomile, chickweed, dandelion, eyebright, fennel seed, hops, milk thistle, mullein, nettle, parsley, rose hips, sage, sarsaparilla, skullcap, and wild yam.

CARDIO EFFECTRecent studies have shown that the CRP is one of the best markers for predicting the chances of a having heart attack or stroke. A CRP close to zero is desired. Currently, yours was 0, which is very good news! However, don’t forget about the earlier section regarding your cholesterol levels and potential clogging, which still must be addressed despite this good value.

NOTED BLOOD VALUES

HGB A1C-LOW. This measures the average level of glucose (sugar) in your blood over the last 6 weeks. This test is more accurate for measuring blood glucose. This will be high in diabetes and insulin resistance, and low in reactive hypoglycemia. It, like glucose, is affected by meal skipping, consuming sugary foods, and eating a diet high in refined carbohydrates. Below are some dietary suggestions to bring these values back in line.

1) No meal skipping2) Eat breakfast EVERY day. This can’t be coffee and bread. You must include a protein source (egg whites, chicken,

turkey, lean red meat, whole beans, nuts), and a low sugar fruit or vegetable.

C,, REYNA 5

Page 6: Web viewYour supplement recommendations will be broken down to the supplement type and amount based on your age, weight, and sex. Remember, the recommendations that I

3) Eat frequent small meals. 4 to 6 of them. Make sure they have 2 ounces of protein and a fruit or vegetable about the size of your palm.

4) Avoid breads, white rice, pasta, coffee, juices.5) Use cinnamon as a spice as it helps with blood sugar regulation

RECOMMENDATIONS: Omega 3 fatty acids (fish oil), Magnesium, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Chromium, Low carbohydrate diet. See Reactive Hypoglycemia section above.

CREATININE- LOWCreatinine- this was outside of the optimal range. This is a by-product of muscle contraction and is a storage depot for muscle energy. Its production is dependent on the muscle mass of the individual, and patients with increased muscle mass will have a slightly higher level than older patients or children (both have less muscle mass). This is a measure of kidney function and muscle function. When the kidneys are not properly excreting creatinine, its levels will rise in the blood. It is used with BUN to assess kidney function, but is more sensitive and specific to the kidney than BUN. Levels can rise with intense exercise, creatine supplementation (common in bodybuilding supplements), tissue destruction, inflammation, and cancer. Additionally, levels above 1.1 can indicate benign prostatic hypertrophy in males or uterine hypertrophy/congestion in females. Certain prescription drugs can also increase creatinine levels. When levels are low, this can indicate muscle atrophy or nerve degeneration, lack of exercise, liver dysfunction or disease, muscular dystrophy, or multiple sclerosis. It can also be lowered due to antibiotics, high bilirubin levels, and compounds of glucose, histidine, or quinidine. In your case it most likely is caused by the mild liver congestion and intestinal parasites. Follow the recommendations in the liver section and parasite section above.

SODIUM- LOWSodium- outside the optimal range. Sodium levels are affected by hydration, kidney blood flow, and hormonal or enzyme secretion. They also become elevated when there is a disturbance between the acid-base balance in the body, and are a marker of the health of the adrenal glands. Diabetes can cause this, as can diuretic drugs (many blood pressure medications), and hypothyroidism. No current recommendations required for this.

ALBUMIN- HIGHThe Albumin is a little high. It is a blood protein that is produced in the liver and plays a major role in water distribution while also serving as a major transport for hormones and various drugs. This is affected by digestive dysfunction, malnutrition, or liver dysfunction. In cases of liver dysfunction, the albumin levels are low because the liver is not properly producing it. Additionally, low levels can indicated free radical pathology or oxidative stress. High levels like yours are usually caused by dehydration. This is especially true when the HGB is above 14.5 for women or 15 for men, HCT is over 44 in women or 48 in men, and the RBCs are increased over 4.5 in women or 4.9 in men. This can also elevate due to a thyroid hypofunction or adrenal hypofunction.Recommendations- increase water intake throughout the day, and also address the parasite section as outlined earlier. Please note that if you are drinking beverages other than water that they do NOT count toward hydration, and can actually increase your need for more water!

CALCIUM- LOWThe calcium is a little low. This can be affected by your suboptimal vitamin D. It can also be affected by your high levels of inflammation. Inflammation causes the tissue to become acidic. In response, your body will pull calcium from the bones and other sources to try to neutralize the acid. Calcium levels are also affected by the following factors:

-digestion- if you have low HCL (hydrochloric acid) you cannot absorb calcium and other minerals. Proper stomach digestion is necessary for proper nutrient absorption-vitamin D- this increases calcium levels in the blood by increasing calcium uptake from the gut and tissues-essential fatty acids- these help transport calcium across cell membranes and into the cells for use-systemic PH- calcium is used by your body to buffer (neutralize acid) in your blood. If your blood is too alkaline, calcium can get deposited in the eyes as cataracts, bones as spurs, joints as bursitis, and kidneys as stones. When blood is too acidic, calcium gets pulled out of the bones to cause osteoporosis, from teeth to create cavities and gum problems, and from the skin to cause cold sores, canker sores, sunburn, herpes, etcphosphorus- is the opposing mineral. Low calcium can cause phosphorus to elevate.Magnesium- is deficient in the American diet and is necessary to properly use calcium. Magnesium also protects the brain from damage caused by calcium leakage when cells are injured.Trace minerals- must have manganese, boron, copper, zinc, and potassium for utilization.Hormones- parathyroid hormone can increase calcium levels by pulling it from bone, calcitonin can decreaseblood calcium, and sex hormones like progesterone and estrogen and testosterone can decrease serum calcium by depositing it into the bones.

Recommendations- vitamin D3, calcium, lysine (needed for absorption of calcium), and the anti-inflammatory supplements listed above. Calcium rich foods include dairy (use only organic sources), sardines, salmon (use only wild, not farmed), seafood, and green leafy veggies (your best source). Also found in almonds, asparagus, broccoli, cabbage, carob, kale, kelp, mustard greens, oats, prunes, sesame seeds, watercress, and whey. Meats, grains, and sodas will increase your need for calcium.

C,, REYNA 6

Page 7: Web viewYour supplement recommendations will be broken down to the supplement type and amount based on your age, weight, and sex. Remember, the recommendations that I

Additionally, antacids such as TUMS are NOT a good source of calcium, despite their marketing them as such. Using an antacid for calcium source will disrupt your stomach acids, which are necessary for absorption of calcium.

PHOSPHORUS- LOWMost phosphorus is stored in the bones in combination with calcium. It also functions in the metabolism of glucose and lipids, is important for maintaining the acid-base balance in the body, and the storage and transfer of energy in the form of ATP and creatine phosphate. Phosphorus levels are regulated by the parathyroid gland. Parathyroid hormone has a very strong effect on kidney excretion of phosphorus and enhances absorption of it from the gut through its effect on vitamin D.

A high carbohydrate meal may cause a decrease in serum phosphorus because glucose will carry it into the cells. It is a general marker for digestion, and decreased levels are associated with digestive dysfunction and also a condition called hypochlorhydria. In your case, I believe it again comes back to the intestinal parasite.

ALKALINE PHOSPHATASE- LOWYour alkaline phosphatase is low, which indicates a zinc deficiency. This is an enzyme that is dependent on zinc for optimal function. Low levels of this can cause: 1) white spots on the nails 2) slow healing wounds 3) reduced sense of smell or taste 4) acne 5) a weak immune system 6) benign prostatic hypertrophy. This will also affect your digestion, as zinc is needed as a co-factor in making stomach acids. ALP is formed in the liver and biliary mucosal cells. Elevations can be caused by a liver dysfunction or obstruction. Recommendations- zinc supplementation of 100 mg per day for 1-2 months, then re-test this blood value

SGOT- LOWSGOT is an enzyme present in skeletal muscle, such as the heart, liver, kidney, and lungs. When levels are low, it usually indicates a B6 deficiency, especially if there is also a decreased MCV and/or MCH while iron is normal. This can also be due to protein deficiency, malabsorption (digestive dysfunction), kidney dysfunction, or gonadal hypofunction.

T3 UPTAKE AND T4 LOW-These are 2 thyroid markers, and when they are both low they indicate a need for iodine. You are not at the level where I would consider that your thyroid was in a hypothyroid state. However, we can start with increasing iodine in your diet or with supplementing with it, and if that does not elevate the level then we can add in the ThyroMend supplement from Douglas labs.

WHITE BLOOD CELLS- LOWIn your case, you fit the pattern for a pancreatic insufficiency because you have the digestive dysfunction and especially because of the presence of the intestinal parasite. When this occurs, the body will recruit WBCs to engage in digestion of foods, which will divert them from their normal immune function. These can also be low when there are intestinal parasites.RECOMMENDATIONS- follow the digestive dysfunction section recommendations above and the parasite section.

MCV and MCH- HIGHThe mean corpuscular volume and the mean corpuscular hemoglobin were increased. This indicates a B12/Folate deficiency because your iron is close to optimal. If your iron were below 50, it could have indicated an iron deficiency. This is most likely due to the intestinal parasite, which will decrease your absorption.Recommendations- supplement with B12/Folate (sublingual for better absorption) and follow the parasite recommendations.

PLATELETS- HIGHThese are the smallest elements in the blood and are necessary for blood clotting, vascular integrity, and vasoconstriction. They form adhesions and platelet plugs, which plug up breaks in small blood vessels. Your was only 2 points above optimal, so it is not a big concern. High values can indicate atherosclerosis, inflammation, anemias, oral contraceptives, malignancies, acute infections, arthritis, acute blood loss, and antioxidant stress. In your case, I would recommend supplementing with anti-oxidants, as this is your most likely cause (oxidative stress). This would include vitamin C, E, and alpha lipoic acid.

The Glomerular Filtration Rate Estimated (eGFR) is optimal. The eGFR is a calculated estimate of the actualglomerular filtration rate and is based on your serum Creatinine concentration. The calculation uses formulas thatmay also include your age, gender, height, and weight. In some formulas, race may also be used in the calculation. The kidneys filter blood and help control blood pressure. They remove waste and water and produce urine. eGFR isone of the best tests to indicate how healthy your kidneys are. It is important to know your eGFR because one maynot be able to feel kidney damage.Over 59-preferred35 to 58-early kidney damage16 to 34-moderate kidney damage

LIFESTYLE / DIETARY RECOMMENDATIONSDIET FOCUS

Most likely, you already know this as you are much more educated than the average patient. However, I still include it here for you as a reminder

Food can be broken down into basically two categories:1. Energy (calories from fat, carbohydrates and protein)2. Nourishment (the nutrient density of the food; vitamin and mineral content).

In general, the more raw foods, such as fruits and veggies, that you eat, the more nutrients you will take in. The cooking process actually destroys many vitamins and proteins and disease fighting substances normally present in fruits and veggies, which is why raw or lightly steamed is better for your health.

Additionally, when cooking food, avoid overcooking. For example, if you ‘blacken’ meat, make bacon extra crispy, or even burn toast, then you produce some substances that are actually cancer causing. So be sure to not cook your food to that level. When planning your meals, use this thought process:

1. Get at least 2 vegetables and 1 fruit with each meal.2. Proteins: 25-35% of the meal needs to be of a protein source.

• Focus on good quality protein and not the processed protein bars, drinks, and powders.• Most desirable proteins: meats (like chicken, fish, turkey and even red meat), eggs, beans, seeds, nuts, sprouts, nut butters (ie. peanut butter, cashew butter, almond butter). Note: make sure that the fish is wild pacific and not farmed. Also stay away from sushi, shark, and swordfish due to mercury levels. Also, the nut butters must not contain hydrogenated oils or sugar or corn syrup. • Eliminate these least desirable proteins: processed soy, processed dairy, pork, processed luncheon meats (those that contain "nitrates" or "nitrites").• Search Google "USDA SR 21" for a downloadable database to look up nutritional content of foods.

3. Carbohydrates: 40-60% of your meal needs to be carbohydrate.• Most desirable carbohydrates sources: fresh vegetables, fresh fruits, whole grain breads, whole oats, whole grain pastas (cooked al dente is better), and brown rice, avocadoes, raw nuts.• Eliminate these least desirable carbohydrates: white sugar, white flour, fruit juice, high fructose cornsyrup, chips, French fries, sodas

4. Fats: Your meal should contain anywhere from 15-25% fat.• Most desirable fat sources: nuts (cashews, almonds, pecans, walnuts, Brazil nuts (raw and unsalted arepreferred), seeds (sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds), avocados, olive oil, coconut oil, fish, nut butters (cashewbutter, almond butter, etc). • Desirable Cooking Oils: Olive Oil, Coconut Oil,. Globalgardens.net has some AMAZING tasting olive oils. They are grown organically in Los Olivos, CA. Coconut oil is the best oil for cooking as it is least likely to be damaged by the heating process, unlike other oils. Olive oil should be kept in the refrigerator to prevent rancidity.•Eliminate these least desirable fat sources: anything with trans-fat (AKA: hydrogenated fat), margarine, interesterified fat or Olestra. Bacon, sausage, etc.• Strictly avoid hydrogenated/trans-fats: About 80% of trans fats in your diet come from processed foods, fast food, primarily snack foods and desserts.

A couple of popular foods that are recommended to be avoided are peanuts and oranges. Peanuts should be avoided because too many of them are contaminated with aflatoxin mold, which is cancer-causing. Oranges should only be eaten if they are organic and non genetically modified, as conventional ones and genetically modified ones can tend to cause allergic or inflammatory reactions.

IDENTIFYING LOW NUTRIENT FOODSBelow is a list of foods and items that will help you identify low nutrient dense foods and cooking/storage processesthat lower the nutrient density in foods. These are strongly recommended you avoid. READ YOUR INGREDIENTLABELS!! Later in your report, you will find exchanges for these items and helpful hints for implementing theselifestyle habits.

1. Artificial Sweeteners: "aspartame", "saccharin", "sucralose", "acesulfame potassium", "sorbitol", "maltitol", etc.

C,, REYNA 8

Page 9: Web viewYour supplement recommendations will be broken down to the supplement type and amount based on your age, weight, and sex. Remember, the recommendations that I

2. Flavor Enhancers and Preservatives: "MSG", "monosodium glutamate", "nitrate" or "nitrite" ingredients found inmany dressings, sauces, Chinese foods, processed meats, pork products, bologna, some wieners, and manyluncheon meat. HVP (hydrolyzed vegetable protein) and processed soy proteins can contain up to 40% MSG.

3. Artificial colors and dyes: look for terms such as "FD&C", "lake", "red", "yellow", etc. Read your supplement labelscarefully.

4. Canned Foods and Drinks: choose fresh or frozen varieties.

5. Microwave Cooking and Deep Frying lower the nutrient density more so than stove top cooking. Microwaving actually destroys a lot of the nutrients and has been linked to cancers. I recommend never microwaving ANYTHING. Instead, buy a mini-convection oven to use to reheat leftovers. It is almost as fast, and food tastes better while holding in more of the nutrients.

6. Artificial Fats: "hydrogenated" [a.k.a. "trans fat"] and "interesterified" fats are found in margarine, manypre-packaged foods, supplements, and dressings; avoid "Olestra" containing products.

7. Refined Carbohydrates: processed foods such as white sugar, white flour, corn syrup, "enriched" foods, etc.

8. Commercial Meats: Try to get the cleanest, freshest meat you can find. Look for meat that is labeled with termssuch as "No Hormones", "No Antibiotics", "Free Range", "Organic", etc.

9. Shellfish and Bottom-feeders: crab, shrimp, lobster, oyster, catfish, etc.

10. Dairy Products: cottage cheese, yogurt, cheese, sour cream, etc. (anything with cow's milk). This does not includeeggs. You will get more calcium from your increased consumption of vegetables.

11. Coffee (regular & chemically decaffed), Liquor (distilled), All sodas, Tea (black decaf & black regular). Organicherbal teas are acceptable.

12. Soy Products: isolated soy protein, texturized vegetable protein, soy supplements, soy protein powder, soy proteinbars, tofu, etc. Limited fermented soy products (tempeh and miso) and whole soy beans are acceptable. Don't makesoy your main protein source, limit to 3-4 servings per week.

13. Chlorine and Fluoride Sources: tap water, heavy chlorine exposure in swimming pools, fluoride toothpaste, fluoride supplements, fluoride mouthwash, etc. Tom’s of Maine makes some great fluoride free products. For an illustration of how dangerous fluoride is, look on your current toothpaste. You will see a warning to call the poison control center if you swallow more than a pea sized amount. Additionally, consider buying a reverse osmosis filter for your house, which will remove many of the metals and fluoride that are added to water.

14. Use deodorants that are free of aluminum products. These have been linked to breast cancers. Try some of the natural versions from Tom’s of Maine or some of the salt crystal formulas.

FOOD RECOMMENDATIONS FOR OPTIMAL HEALTH

With your lab findings of an intestinal parasite and digestive dysfunction, it is very important to make sure your food choices are balanced to get the right nutrients. The following will give you a guideline of what foods to include in your diet to reverse this, increase your energy, and keep you young and healthy.

This is largely a protein/veggie diet.. If you want to reverse what is occurring in your body, you must make dietary changes in addition to using the supplements. Don’t stress about trying to do things perfectly. Try to implement as many of these recommendations as possible. It will become easier over time once they become your habit. I’m not really worried about this for you as I know you usually follow a very good diet.

If you do choose to add in any meats, be sure to use organic produce and meats. These will have fewer pesticides and hormones, and fewer pro-inflammatory fats. Pesticides can accumulate in your body tissues and produce inflammation and also mimick estrogen, which can cause weight gain and tumor growth. Certain pesticides penetrate the skin or peel, so washing does not eliminate your intake or exposure. If you eat non-organic produce, be sure to soak them in a veggie wash before eating them. You can buy citrus based veggie washes at the store, or you can make one at home by combining water, vinegar, and lemon juice.

Most desirable protein sources:Organic Chicken Free range beef/bison Turkey (minimally processed) Salmon (wild)

C,, REYNA 9

Page 10: Web viewYour supplement recommendations will be broken down to the supplement type and amount based on your age, weight, and sex. Remember, the recommendations that I

Eggs Nuts Seeds Tuna (wild)Almond butter Cashew butter beans/legumes

Be sure with all nut butters that there is NO sugar or hydrogenated oils. Your only ingredients should be the nut and maybe salt. No more than that. I did not list peanut butter because much of the peanut crop is contaminated with a toxic mold called aflatoxin, which can cause severe reactions and has even been linked to cancer. It is very hard to find peanuts without that mold, so it is easier to just switch to almond or cashew butter.

Vegetable choices. Fresh and organic is preferred. Frozen ok. No canned!Avocado Celery Lettuce Rutabagas Asparagus CollardsBean Sprouts Chard Mushrooms String Beans Mustard Greens SpinachBeet greens Cucumber Okra Squash Broccoli Brussel SproutsCabbage Carrots Cauliflower Dandelion Greens Eggplant EndiveKale Kohlrabi Leeks Onions Parsley PeppersPimento Pumpkin Radishes Tomatoes Turnips Water Cress

All veggies should be eaten raw or steamed lightly. You can buy a steamer at Target or Walmart for about $30, which makes cooking very easy. Simply add your seasonings on top of the veggies, add water, and you are done.

DO NOT COOK ANYTHING IN THE MICROWAVE! If you use a microwave, you will destroy most of the nutrients that are in the food, in addition to denaturing the proteins. Some European countries have banned microwave ovens over health concerns. Instead, buy a mini-convection toaster oven at Target or Walmart. They cost around $30-40, and the food will taste much better and not be destroyed.

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY DIET

To reduce your inflammation, which is evidenced by your high sedimentation rate, you should follow these recommendations, which are similar to those outlined above. You should eliminate all dairy from the diet. This includes milk, cheese, yogurt, and ice cream. Also, eliminate refined carbohydrates and sugars, especially sodas, even diet ones. Processed cereals and white breads should also be eliminated. I know it is hard to eliminate things completely, so start out by reducing them to either one serving per day or every other day, or something like that. Gradually get to the point where you have eliminated them completely. Red meat should be used no more than 1 time per week, unless it is very low fat (4 or 7% fat). So that you don’t feel super restricted, allow yourself ONE cheat meal per week. Avoid those foods below:

Processed meats with MSG or Nitrates (hot dogs, sausage, etc) Sugar (found in desserts, baked goods, fruit juice, sodac) Too many carbohydrates High sodium foods Dairy products Red meat (for some people) Deep fried foods Coffee

Here is a breakdown of 4 common things that people eat that increase acid.1- Salt2- Cheese and saturated fat, dairy3- Too many servings of grains4- Too few fruits and vegetables.

What you want to eat are foods in their most NATURAL unprocessed state. For example, fresh fruits and vegetables, and lean meats as outlined above. A good rule of thumb is to eat as wide a variety of COLORS of fruits and veggies as possible. Here is a breakdown of the guidelines:

Whole fruits and vegetables! The more color the better.  Always eat more vegetables than fruits. Foods high in Omega 3's such as cold water oily fish, walnuts, flax seeds, and pumpkin seeds. If you're protein deficient, good protein sources are poultry, eggs, fish, beans, seeds, nuts, and sprouts. Stay hydrated!  See our July 2008 edition on Hydration recommendations.

Here is a list of common foods and the acid load they place on the kidneys and body. Negative numbers mean they are anti-inflammatory, while positive ones are inflammatory. The further from zero, the more anti-inflammatory negative numbers are and more inflammatory positive ones are. Seving sizes are 100 grams or 3.5 ounces by weight.

Inflammatory Foods:Milk 1.0 Soda .4 Beer .9 Fish 7.9 Meat 9.5 Peanuts 8.3Walnuts 6.8 Bread 4 Pasta 6.7 Corn Flakes 6 Oat flakes 10.7 Cheese 26.4Cottage Cheese 8.7 Parmesan 34.2 Yogurt 1.2

Anti-inflammatory Foods-Raisins -21 Spinach -14 Hazelnuts -2.8 Carrots - 4.9 Zucchini -4.6 Cherries -3.6Lettuce -2.5 Tomatoes -3.1 Bananas -5.5

In general, fruits are – 3.1 on average, and veggies are -2.8 on average.

For extra help in reducing your inflammation in addition to the diet, try these products for acute and chronic inflammation.  Spread dosage throughout the day and take with food. The following recommendations are for your age and weight.

Turmeric Rhizome (Curcuma longa) 1800-5400mg daily*Ginger Rhizome (Zingiber officinale) 600-1800mg daily**We highly recommended a product called Inflavonoid which contain both of these ingredients. Take 6-15 daily.Vitamin E (mixed tocopherols and tocotrienols) 400-1200IU dailyVitamin C** 6000-12,000mg daily Omega 3 Fish Oil 500-2000mg daily...read your labels carefully.  Identify what your total Omega 3 intake would be from the supplement by adding the EPA and DHA content together.  You do not want the total "fish oil".  You want to take the total of "Omega 3" in the fish oil.  Also, look at the "serving size".  This will tell you how many pills you need to take to get that dosage. Also, beware of inexpensive brands, like those sold at warehouse stores or retail chain drug store brands. They may not be tested for contaminates like mercury or plastics and have the potential to cause more harm than good. Another option for Omega 3 is krill oil or flaxseed oil. The disadvantage to flaxseed oil is that it does not contain DHA, which is essential for brain function.

AEROBIC EXERCISE

Examples of aerobic exercise are jogging, cycling, elliptical trainer, fast-paced walking, etc. It is recommended thatyou build up to at least 40 minutes a day. If at first you do not have the energy to exercise this much, it is recommended that you start slowly by exercising 10 minutes two or three times a day until you can gradually build up to 40 minutes a day. Be sure that after you do this type or any type of exercise that you take your antioxidant supplements with a meal within 30 minutes of exercising. If you do not eat within that time frame, you will begin to break down muscle tissue to use as fuel and place extra stress on your body. Also, during exercise your body will produce a large amount of ‘free radicals’, which are substances that damage artery walls, cell walls, and even DNA. Over time this can cause serious health problems. You can neutralize the free radicals with your antioxidants, specifically the combination of C, E, and alpha lipoic acid to protect your body and immune system.

STRENGTH TRAINING

Continue with doing your yoga exercises while on this program.

With both aerobic exercise and strength training, you MUST make sure to eat a good, balanced meal within 1 hour of finishing your exercise if you want to prevent the breakdown of muscle tissue and a weakening of you immune system.

A good rule of thumb is to eat about 3 ounces (size of a deck of cards) of lean protein along with fruit or veggies that are the size of your fist. If you have trouble with not being hungry after exercise, try doing a protein shake with some fruit added. Just be sure

the protein powder you use does not have a bunch of artificial sweeteners. The one we carry from Jay Robb is sweetened with stevia, which is a much better choice. Additionally, use either filtered water, organic milk, or almond milk to mix the shake. You could also try coconut milk, as it has some very beneficial fats that are great for your health. Add in some fresh or frozen fruit to round it out so you have the protein and fruit combo.

SAFE SUN EXPOSURE

Our society has become obsessed with sunscreen and avoiding the sun to the point that vitamin D deficiency has become rampant. As discussed earlier, vitamin D is critical for normal functioning of your immune system, hormones, calcium utilization, and more. While I am not recommending you lather baby oil on your skin and spend hours baking in the sun, I do recommend some safe exposure. These guidelines can be found in the book “The Vitamin D Cure” by James Dowd, MD and also on Joseph Mercola, DO’s website, www.mercola.com.

In general, this means about 1-15 minutes per day of sun exposure WITHOUT sunscreen. You will want to determine your skin type first from the following list:

1) Always burn, never tan2) Burn easily, rarely tan3) Occasionally burn, slowly tan4) Rarely burn, rapidly ran5) Never burn, always dark

You then want to check the UV index for your city to determine the amount of UV rays for that day. UV levels vary depending on many atmospheric conditions. Check www.epa.gov/sunwise/uvindex to find out the amount of UV for the day in the city where you will be. Then use the following chart, which is from Dr Dowd’s book, to determine the amount of time you want to be in the sun before you apply sunscreen.

UV 0-2 UV 3-5 UV 6-7 UV 8-10 UV 11 AND UPTYPE 1 too low to make D 10-15 5-10 2-8 1-5

TYPE 2 too low to make D 15-20 10-15 5-10 2-8

TYPE 3 too low to make D 20-30 15-20 10-15 5-10

TYPE 4 too low to make D 30-40 20-30 15-20 10-15

TYPE 5-6 too low to make D 40-60 30-40 20-30 15-20

When the UV level is between 0 and 2, there is no point in sun exposure as it is too low to cause your body to make vitamin D. For example, if you are a type 1, and the UV index for the day is 6, you need between 5-10 minutes of sun exposure to your body to make vitamin D. You want the skin to get just slightly pink, but not burned, and you should not stay out longer than recommended. Once you have completed the time required, you can then apply sunscreen or clothing. Many sunscreens contain carcinogenic chemicals, so you must be careful in selecting them. I recommend that you go to www.mercola.com and search safe sunscreens on his site. He has a page that tells you what ingredients to avoid. You can also see from this chart that the darker you are, the more time in the sun it actually takes for you to make vitamin D!

I know that when you read this, you are probably wondering about the skin cancer risk. Current research, especially that referenced in Dr Dowd’s book, show that if you supplement with antioxidants and follow the guidelines above that you do not have an increased risk of skin cancer. In fact, the research he references suggest that even though Americans keep covering up with stronger sunscreens and avoiding the sun altogether that skin cancer rates are still escalating. One theory is that the carcinogenic chemicals in sunscreens combined with a diet poor in antioxidants are a possible cause. I highly recommend that you read Dr Dowd’s book and go to Dr Mercola’s site and make up your mind for yourself.

However, if you still want to avoid the sun altogether, you will want to supplement with the vitamin D3 all year. It will be important that you have your levels checked in summer, to make sure your dosage is not causing an excess, and in winter, so that the appropriate correction can be made for the decreased sun exposure which will cause drastically lowered D levels (Dr Dowd’s book suggests that high rates of illness such as seasonal flus in the winter are related to critically low D levels in wintertime).

ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS

C,, REYNA 12

Page 13: Web viewYour supplement recommendations will be broken down to the supplement type and amount based on your age, weight, and sex. Remember, the recommendations that I

I highly recommend that you read Dr Mercola’s book, ‘Sweet Deception”, or Dr Russell Blaylock’s book, “Health and Nutrition Secrets That Can Save Your Life”. They do a great job detailing just how dangerous some of these chemicals are. The most important one to avoid is Nutrasweet, aka aspartame. This is an excitatory neurotoxin that has the ability to freely bypass the blood-brain barrier and enter the hypothalamus. Once there it can disrupt calcium pumps inside brain cells and lead to cellular death and destruction. Additionally, it has been linked with visual disturbances, migraines, and even brain tumors (although the major corporations who manufacture it will deny and discredit this claim).

Splenda, aka sucralose, was originally made by English chemists who were developing a new pesticide to get around the environmental bans on DDT. Chemically it is an organo-chloride, as are most pesticides. When you ingest it, your body can absorb the chlorine molecule into the liver and lymph system, which can cause inflammation of the tissues (you had high inflammation levels). Or course the corporation claims this does not happen, but there is much anecdotal evidence that warrants avoidance of this substance.

Your best choice for a sugar alternative is stevia, which is a natural herb from South America that has been used for centuries. I recommend trying the powdered or liquid form. It takes some practice using it, as it is quite potent. A few drops is enough to sweeten a drink or food. If you put too much, it will taste slightly bitter. The best news is that it can actually help your blood glucose levels and your insulin sensitivity.

In general, read the labels on all your diabetic or diet food and drink. If you see the names Aspartame, Splenda, sucralose, aspartame, acetylsulfane potassium, or sugar alcohols, it is wise to avoid using it.

WATER CONSUMPTION

Do not go over 3 quarts (96 ounces) regardless of your weight unless you are engaged in exercise or work that makes you sweat excessively. We recommend using "reverse osmosis" filtration for your drinking and cooking water. Reverse Osmosis is a type of filtration that gets the water the cleanest that technology has to offer without robbing the water of all essential minerals. This will remove dangerous chemicals and substances like lead, arsenic, fluoride, etc, that are present in your tap water and that can negatively affect your health. You can get a system at Home Depot of Lowe’s for under $200. You can also try getting spring water delivered to your home, but that can prove expensive in the long run. Distilled water is not recommended. Since distilled water has little or no mineral content, it acts like a vacuum that can actually leach minerals from your system.

A word of caution - anytime you make drastic changes in diet, vitamin intake, or exercise, realize that you mayfeel somewhat worse before you feel better. It doesn't happen often, but as your body detoxifies, you may feelworse if it occurs too fast. If you do feel worse, don't panic, it will pass in probably 2-3 days. If this problem doesoccur, take half of what is recommended for three days and slowly over two weeks progress to taking the completeprogram.

Everything that has been recommended is very important and many of these things work together. In order to get themost effective results, it is important that you follow the program exactly as outlined. Following the diet may not beeasy, but if you do, you will get the best outcome. Likewise, if you don't take the vitamins, or only take part of them, you may not see the expected results. Many people with some very serious problems have been helped using thisprogram. The purpose of this analysis is to benefit you. This is for your well being, so please do the program as recommended so that you will achieve the best results.

Attached is a list of vitamins that have been carefully selected for your specific problems. These vitamins are recommended because they are of the highest quality. Occasionally, you will hear rumors regarding vitamin toxicity.Rest assured that these issues have been researched and the risk of significant side effects is extremely low.Historical data and experience have shown these vitamins, along with the dietary changes, to be the best in helpingyou achieve the necessary improvements needed on your test results. If for some reason you need to return thesupplements, please contact our front desk for our returns policy. Also, please be reminded that the recommendations I give here are not intended to cure or treat a specific condition, and the use of these supplements to achieve any health effect has not been evaluated by the FDA.

Please keep this report for future reference and bring it with you to your next evaluation. If we can be of any further assistance to you or your family please do not hesitate to ask.Yours in Good Health,

VITAMIN AND SUPPLEMENT RECOMMENDATIONS

C,, REYNA 13

Page 14: Web viewYour supplement recommendations will be broken down to the supplement type and amount based on your age, weight, and sex. Remember, the recommendations that I

Here are the supplements that I recommend based on your lab results and symptoms. I have recommended specific brands that I know are of high quality and that I trust. Additionally, these are the brands that the doctor who trained me has found to be effective in his 20 plus years of experience. After 2 to 6 months, we can do another blood test and adjust your supplement requirements based on that data.

Remember that the most expensive vitamin is the one that does not work or makes you worse! A lot of ‘discount’ brands, such as from membership stores or retail chains, carry vitamins that have questionable quality or that have dangerous ingredients, like mercury, pesticides, chemicals, and even in some cases prescription medications. Some of the cheap ones do not even have what they claim to have on the label. So, make sure that you only get a brand that you trust and that you know is of high quality, otherwise you will have wasted your money on the testing, the report, and your vitamins.

With that said, you are not required to purchase these brands through us. If you have a brand that you trust, that is fine. If you want to search for it on the internet to save a few bucks, I totally understand. I have included the dosage amounts for you to use if you want to buy your products elsewhere or of another brand. Just be very careful of which ones you choose. Remember that there are no regulations on vitamins, so cheap brands will often contain contaminants, glues, dyes, medications, and may even not have the amount or type of vitamin that they claim to have. Additionally, they may contain a cheap synthetic form that your body cannot easily absorb. If you choose to use a different brand, it may affect your results.

You will notice that there are a lot of supplements recommended to you. You will not have to be on these supplements for the rest of your life. This is the initial phase to get your body functioning again. When we do a retest, we can start to reduce the number of supplements that you are taking based on your improvements.

It is very important that you take all the supplements listed here in the amounts I have recommended for the best results. If you choose to take only a few, you will not have as complete of a result as if you take them all. I understand that for budgetary purposes it can be tempting to skip a few or many of the supplements. In your case, you have a lot of health issues going on, and if you do not address them completely, there is less of a chance of getting your body functioning normally again. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about these recommendations.

SUPPLEMENT DOSAGESPLEASE REMEMBER THAT THESE STATEMENTS HAVE NOT BEEN EVALUATED BY THE FDA, AND THAT THESE SUPPLEMENTS ARE NOT INTENDED TO CURE OR TREAT A MEDICAL CONDITION, BUT INSTEAD TO IMPROVE FUNCTIONING OF THE BODY. We will monitor their effectiveness through your follow up blood tests.

1) Paradex- to kill the intestinal parasite. 1-2 per day for 60 days.2) Vitamin D3- 7500 IU/day for 30 days. Then 5000 IU per day for 30 days, then retest level in 2 months.3) Vitamin C- 3000 mg/day. Powerful antioxidant that works in combination with Vitamin E and alpha lipoic

acid and glutathione to protect brain cells and immune cells from free radical damage. Also important for detoxification and for immunity, and to decrease inflammation.

4) Bromelain- 2000 mg/day. Anti- inflammatory, also helps with digestion. 5) Sublingual B12/Folate- To correct your deficiency. 3000 mcg/1200mg6) Zinc- 100 mg per day. Don’t go over this amount. 7) Lauricidin- start with ¼ scoop per day. Increase by another ¼ scoop per day until you reach 1-2 scoops per

day. If you have a strong reaction, such as gastric upset or fatigue, decrease dosage in half. This product will kill off bad bacteria and yeast in your body. As they die off, they can cause what is called a herxheimer reaction which can cause strong symptoms in some people. This can last from a few days up to 2 weeks, depending on how bad the problem was. This helps with decreasing inflammation and cleansing the liver.

8) Digestive enzymes- with meals- amylase, lipase, pepsin, protease, pancreatic acid9) EPA/DHA- 2000 mg/day. Important for cellular function, formation of good cholesterol, decreasing

inflammation.10) Tumeric- 3000 mg/day. Great anti-inflammatory11) Ginger rhizome- 1000 mg/day. Great anti-inflammatory12) Beta Carotene- 50k IU. Helps with liver function. Also aids in cancer prevention by neutralizing free

radicals. 13) Chlorella- 1500 mg/day. This will help bind to toxins and metals to help your body flush them out and

detoxify. 14) Selenium and Iodine- To aid in conversion of T4 to T3 for normal thyroid function.15) Silymarin- helps to regenerate the liver and aid in its detoxification function. Has been used for centuries to

treat liver disease. It guards against oxidative damage and protects the liver from toxins, drugs, alcohol effects, and promotes new cell growth. It also helps reduce insulin resistance, which can help with diabetes.

For all the supplements, you will take them with meals. DO NOT take them without a meal, as that can cause nausea and burning. Also, for best results, do not skip or reduce the amounts that are shown above, as those are the therapeutic dosages. Lastly, it is better to spread out your dosages throughout the day rather than all at once. For example, if you are to take 3 capsules of the EPA/DHA per day, it is better to take one with 3 separate meals rather than 3 all at once.

If you have any questions or experience any reactions, please be sure to contact us as soon as possible. You can email me at [email protected] or call the office.

FOLLOW UP RECOMMENDATIONS

As stated before, you will not be on this list of supplements at these dosages for the rest of your life. It is recommended that your blood be retested in 2 to 4 months, and adjustments will be made to your supplement list based on those findings. Certain supplements are in general beneficial on an ongoing basis. These would include multivitamins, antioxidants, and fish oils. Others will be on an as needed basis as determined by your test results and your symptoms.

Remember that you must make sure to follow the dietary guidelines and not just take the supplements. Taking just the supplements will give you improvements, but it is not as powerful as when you make the recommended lifestyle changes. Remember that the amount of money that you invest in quality, organic food, and in quality supplements is an investment in your body and in your life. You never realize how precious and important health and vitality is until it starts to fade. The choices you make on a daily basis will either promote health and longevity, or promote sickness and disease, so be sure to choose wisely!

In your case, I would definitely recommend performing the hair analysis to check for heavy metal burden. I would also recommend that you check out www.mercola.com for more info on natural health topics. It’s a free site by Dr Joseph Mercola, who is one of the leading natural health physicians. Again, if you have any questions, please email me or call the office. And remember to be patient! You are creating new healthy habits to replace the old habits that you had developed over your whole life, which will take some time to accomplish but will be well worth it!
