“Godzilla” is a popular series of films that began in 1954. This April, a life-sized Godzilla head appeared on the 8th floor balcony of a building in Kabukicho (Shinjuku City, Tokyo Prefecture). Every night at the same hour, its eyes glow and smoke spews out of its mouth. It’s so popular that the “Godzilla rooms” in the Gracery Hotel Shinjuku, where you can view the Godzilla out front, are fully booked. By giving visitors a sense of Godzilla’s magnitude, the light-hearted gimmick allows them to enter the world of Godzilla.

In March 2015, the “TOKYO IDOL PROJECT” to promote Japan’s idol (pop star) culture in and outside Japan, was launched. HAMADA Shunya – who works as an account producer for the Content Division of Fuji TV – stated at a press conference for the event, “By communicating the appeal of idols, not just to their existing fans, but also to the general public, I hope to get the nation and Tokyo fired up about the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.”
