due to accidental electric arcing. Once the system is exposed to the light, the equipment supplies a DC voltage to ECP.

Connecting PV modules. Before connecting the PV modules, you must check that the voltage parameters specified in the manufacturer’s technical documentation correspond to the real parameters. When you verify the voltage reading, remember that PV modules supply a higher no-load voltage when the temperature is low and sun levels remain unchanged. At -4º F (-20º C) the open circuit voltage of PV modules must never exceed 500 V. The PV module datasheet will indicate the applicable temperature factors in order to determine the theoretical voltage in an open circuit at -4º F (-20º C). If the PV modules have an open circuit voltage of 500 V, it is forbidden to connect the PV module. Failure to respect these storage regulations may lead to a withdrawal of the product warranty. The PV Inverter is fitted with a residual current monitoring unit in accordance with VDE0126-1-1. This device measures the earth fault current of the PV and prevents the PV Inverter from supplying the grid in the case of an earth fault.

2 GENERAL DESCRIPTION 2.1 Introduction The ZIGOR SOLAR XTR3 is a single phrase solar inverter. It is responsible for converting the direct current generated by photovoltaic panels into alternating current for injection into the electrical power distribution grid. The ZIGOR SOLAR XTR3 can be used both to back up consumption and as a system to produce electricity. In the first case, if the electrical power consumption of the location in which the inverter is installed is lower than the power consumed by this unit, excess production is delivered to the grid. If this consumption exceeds production, the energy required to complete the balance is taken from the electricity grid. In the second case, all the power generated by the equipment is injected into the electricity grid. In both cases, the appropriate power measurement systems must be installed for each use. The installation of the ZIGOR SOLAR XTR3 and its connection to the electricity grid shall be done in accordance with local regulations and may require the installation of adequate electricity consumption measuring devices. The PV inverter only operates when it is connected to the electrical power distribution line and cannot operate as a stand-alone unit.

The auxiliary input is provided for those uses in which there is an electricity grid and a power generator operating alongside. When the generator is in operation, the inverter will adopt an operating mode that will allow it to adapt more quickly to the grid conditions generated by the generator. When working in a grid, it will behave automatically in compliance with the established Grid Code. Having completed the steps set out above, the installation must follow the diagram shown in Fig. 3-25.

6 COMMUNICATIONS INTERFACE 6.1 Access remote WEB (http) To communicate with the system, by the website, some settings have to be done previously. First of all, the system has to be connected by an Ethernet cable to the router. In the lower part of the system, there is the communication board: starting for the left side, there are: an Ethernet connector, two R115 connectors, and one USB connector (for ZIGOR exclusive use only).

Fig. 6-1 Communication Board

There is NO user installable software. The system is accessed by an internet explorer and it is used the same user interface for local mode and remote mode. When the wires are connected, the network has to be configured. There are two options; first, the router assign an IP to the inverter (DHCP: Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) or configure it manually. Second, involves the configuration of the subnet mask, router and primary DNS. Note: It is required Internet Explorer 8 or higher or Mozilla Firefox 3 or higher. Note: There are some parameters that can be modified by the user; and another parameters, for your safety, that the manipulation is exclusive for ZIGOR maintenance workers.

6.1.1 Configuration by DHCP In the default configuration, the inverter is configured without DHCP. To enable, it has to be done from “settings” menu, “system” and in the 15th point is the option of “enable DHCP”, change the status to activate (“yes”). When this process has be done, go to “control” and in the fourth point “net”, select “IP NEW” and accept. The inverter will reset and it will be configured automatically for connecting by web. In this case, the inverter will have an IP direction that it has to be known, so the communication could be possible. It is located in the router (depends on the router) or from the inverter, being more easily this second choice To get the IP by the inverter’s screen, go to the “status” menu, “system” and annotate the IP. To do the communication, put the IP direction in the web navigator.

6.1.2 Configuration without DHCP In the default configuration, the inverter is configured without DHCP and with one IP direction, mask, router and primary DNS at random. Some admissible directions will have to be inserted manually, depends on the place will be connected. So the user manual of the router has to be looked up, and in case of doubts consult to your telephone service provider.

6.1.3 Configuration for external connection The steps haves been described for the connection of the inverter to one telephone network can only be used for doing the communication in the same network. To connect from computer that it isn’t connected to the same router but with Internet connection, one port in the router have to be opened. For more information you will have to consult to your telephone service provider.
