ZigBee USB Interfacing Board

Introduction:ZigBee (XBee) USB Interfacing Board used to interface ZigBee (XBee) wireless

Module with Desktop or Laptop computer systems. User can use this Interfacing board to connect raw module of ZigBee (XBee) to make communication between PC to PC, PC to Mechanical Assembly, PC to embedded and microcontroller based Circuits. User can also use this board to configure ZigBee (XBee) according to application. As ZigBee (XBee) communicates through Serial Communication so other end of USB which is connected to PC, treated as COM port for Serial Communication. User can use any type of ZigBee module almost. It is provided with indication LEDs for ease.

Features:

· Linear separate pin-out for Transmit data pin (TxD) and Receive data pin (RxD)

· Onboard USB type-B port

· Helps to interface USB device with module supporting UART

· Six LEDs showing status of TXD, RXD, SUSPEND, RSSI, ASSOC and Power LED

Hardware Description:

CP2102 IC:CP2102 IC is the one which converts TTL logic to USB logic so that devices works on

TTL logic can share the data with devices connected through USB cables. To know about pinout of this IC please download datasheet from our website.

USB type-B connector:USB connector provides connection between CP2102 USB to TTL logic converter and

USB port of Computer System. This USB is type-B Female connector, its pinout is as shown in figure.

ZigBee (XBee) Reset Switch:This switch is only used to make reset ZigBee (XBee) module, if it stuck anytime.

LM1117/3.3V:LM1117/3.3V is used here as a Voltage Regulator which gives output voltage 3.3V as

CP2102 IC required 3.3V as input voltage.

Indicator LEDs:Indicator LEDs just used to indicate status accordingly. These are six LEDs represents

Power Status, TxD, RxD, Suspend Status, RSSI Status and Associate Status respectively. Power LED will keep on until the power supply is enable to this ZigBee (XBee) board. When data is received by this module RxD LED will blink. When data is transmitted by this module TxD LED will blink. Suspend LED will show whether data/communication is suspended or not. RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication) indicates the signal strength while transmitting or receiving data, ASSOC (Association) indicates short address list associated coordinator.

ZigBee (XBee) Expansion Pins:These pins lets User to have ease access of ZigBee (XBee) module’s pins externally.

These pins are expanded by using Straight Single Berg Strip Connector. User can directly connect these pins for external use through Single Berg Wire or Relimate connector. To know more details about these pins please go through Datasheets.

Warning: Please do not connect any external power supply to VCC (3.3V) / P1 of ZigBee (XBee) board,it may damage ZigBee (XBee) as well as USB port of PC.

CP2102 Driver Installation:

This guide will help user step by step installation of CP2102 Serial to USB converter Driver. Following are illustrated steps for installation of CP2102 driver in Windows 7 operating System.

Step 1:Double Click on installer .exe file of CP2102 Driver.

Step 2:Welcome window will appear, click on ‘Next >’ button.

Step 3:Read License Agreement carefully. Select ‘I accept’, then click on ‘Next’.

Step 4:Setup will ask User about destination location for installation folder, if user wants to

change then click on ‘Browse...’ else keep it default. Click on ‘Next >’.

Step 5:Click on ‘Install’ button.

Let the installation be completed.

Step 6:make sure that if ‘Launch the CP210x VCP Driver Installer’ check ed or not, if not then

make it checked. click on ‘Finish’.

Step 7:Setup will ask User to install driver software, click on ‘Install’ button.

Wait until installation will finished.

Step 8:Click on ‘OK’ if User gets message ‘Installation completed successfully’.

Step 9:To check which ‘COM’ port is assigned to this module, Go to ‘Start’ Menu > Right click

on ‘Computer ’ option > Click on ‘Manage’ option.

Step 10:Now connect USB cable’s one end to Desktop or Laptop computer system’s any of the

one USB port, then connect another end to CP2102 module’s USB port as shown in picture.

Step 11:‘Computer Management’ window will appear, select ‘Device Manager’ from left side

list.

Step 12:Expand ‘Ports (COM & LPT)’ option and then check ‘COM’ port assigned to ‘Silicon

Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge’. In this way User has successfully installed device driver.
