Action 1.3 Accurate Public Data for Digital Maps. Problem: Uneven and often missing availability, accuracy and reliability of

European road data for digital maps and missing rules for their timely update in digital maps. Objectives of the action/study:

» Identify common minimum requirements of road data for use in digital maps in the EU.

» Define procedures for ensuring a fair, simple and transparent access of digital map providers to these road data, identify common minimum requirements regarding timely update of the digital maps by the digital map providers.

» Estimate the technical and standardisation needs. » to define concrete measures that facilitate co-operation and effective exchange of traffic data and information across borders, regions and urban/ interurban interfaces – enabling door-to-door and truly multi-modal travel planning

» ITS services have a potential to improve road safety & to enhance ‘the comfort of the user’ but (positive or negative) impacts of ITS on Vulnerable Road Users (VRU) are not always well identified.Objectives of the study:

» to identify and assess (positive/ negative) impacts of ITS applications and services on the VRU’s safety and comfort

» to quantification of (positive/ negative) impacts, identification of most relevant ITS services and applications

» to propose and prioritise recommended European action

• to stimulate disclosing of information by parking operators would be required

• to define a common standard for the automated publishing of coded information by parking operator (once approved as standard, TPEG-PKIml good candidate)

• to adopt this standard to stimulate dissemination of occupancy data

» For information dispatch :• Roadside deployment : For the distribution of local

information, VMS provide an effective means of communications.

• In-vehicle deployment : - By combining occupancy information from multiple sites, a

complete feed of occupancy can be provided to in-vehicle systems.

Action 3.5 Information and reservation systems for parking for trucks and commercial vehicles (2/2)

. Results of first study (2010) (2)» For truck parking reservation systems

• Reservation of truck parking slot is feasible, exists and meets a certain demand.

➩However which segments of road haulage really demand for reservation must be distinctly identified.

• From a technically feasible product meeting special demands in some sectors, a mass product must be created as well as the general demand for it.

• It is recommended to associate reservation, perceived as an essential service of ITP, with the labelling of security levels.. Next steps :

» Follow-up study in 2011 : draft specifications for information systems + Impact Assessment
