Zetech University

What began as a college in 1999 is now one of the most reputable private

universities in the country, Zetech University. The institution boasts of specialty in

training Technology, Science and Business courses. It is accredited by Commission

for University Education. To date, the university has trained thousands of youths

in Kenya and internationally. But what do you know about this institution? Let’s

begin with a little background.



History of Zetech Uni

In 1997, a young man by the name Ken Mbiuki, then an

engineering student at the University of Nairobi, started a

small business of teaching short ICT courses in his hostel room.

Contrary to what many people may

think, the university has very humble beginnings. In 1997, a young man by

the name Ken Mbiuki, then an engineering student at the University of

Nairobi, started a small business of teaching short ICT courses in his hostel

room. He named it Zenith Technologies.

After realizing that there was a high demand for ICT courses, Ken expanded

his business and in 1999, it was

incorporated into Zetech College. The college has been operational since then

and it continued to attract an increasing number of students pursuing different

courses.

Zetech University was formed in August 2014 after receiving the letter of

authority to offer university programmes in Kenya. The inception of

the university was marked by the construction of a multi-million 3 storey

complex located off Thika Road in Ruiru. The institution now admits thousands of

students taking certificate, diploma and

degree courses. The institution also offers corporate training.

school at the institution.

#4 Zetech School of ICT and

Engineering

From the very beginning, Zetech has been specializing in the field of

technology, and the School of ICT and Engineering was born to emphasize on

giving learners the skill sets that will

allow them to pursue unlimited careers. This school offers certificate, diploma

and advanced diploma courses whose exams are administered by well-known

bodies such as KNEC, KASNEB and City & Guilds. The school has well equipped

computer laboratories and other facilities that will enable learners to get

the highest quality of education.

#5 Zetech School of Media Arts & Design

This school specializes in the creative arts and design. Zetech has invested in

state of the art technology including equipment for film editing and sound

production. The institution offers diploma and certificate courses in

journalism as well as a diploma in media techniques (TV studio Journalism or

Video Production). The courses take a period of 6 to 18 months.

#2 Zetech School of Hospitality

The institution targets learners with a

dream of getting into the hospitality industry by offering skills and

knowledge needed to offer high quality of service. Learners are well prepared

to join businesses such as airlines, cruise lines, travel agents and the

hotel industry. The School of Hospitality offers a wide range of

certificate and diploma courses with

trainings conducted at the Agriculture campus in Nairobi. From diploma in

food production to hospitality management and cake making, there’s

#1 Zetech School of Business

Those who want to study certificate, diploma and degree courses in

businesses can join Zetech University School of Business. The school

specializes in courses such as Accounting, Finance, Human Resources

and Business Management. The

institution has teamed up with professional examination bodies such

as ABE, ICM, KNEC and CIM. Diploma courses usually take 18 months,

whereas certificate courses cover a period of 6 – 12 months.



Courses Offered at Zetech

Every institution is known to specialize

in certain courses. When it comes to

Zetech University, you may consider them experts in training professionals

in the fields of science and technology.

The institution offers 3 main degree programmes: Bachelor of Business

Information Technology, Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and

Bachelor of Business Administration and Management.

Diploma and certificate courses are

offered in fields such as Travel & Tour, Business Administration, Hospitality

Management, Community

Development, Education and Early Childhood Development.

The university also offers pre-

university programmes. These are meant to prepare the learner for

higher education. They include a Bridging certificate in Mathematics,

Zetech University Campuses

#1 Thika Road Main Campus

This is the main campus situated in Ruiru,

Kiambu County just 15 minutes’ drive from Nairobi CBD. The campus serves

more than 7,000 students pursuing different certificate, diploma and degree

courses. The institution not only has a modern library that covers three floors,

but also an amphitheater which has a 300 capacity used by students in drama,

music concerts and other extra-curricular activities. The campus is green and

beautiful – a great learning environment for students.

#2 Pioneer Campus:

This campus is situated in Pioneer House in Nairobi CBD along Moi Avenue. Courses

are offered in conjunction with Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and

Technology.

#3 Stanbank Campus

Situated along Moi Avenue, this campus offers training in hospitality and ICT

courses. It is very convenient and easy to access for most people because of its

prominent location.

#4 Agriculture House Campus

Located right at the heart of Kenya’s

capital, the campus mainly specializes in business studies. They offer diploma and

undergraduate programmes in business as well as other hospitality courses and practical programmes.



Like in any other institution of higher learning in

Kenya, Zetech is known for certain extracurricular

activities. Some of the vibrant clubs include

Information Technology club, Engineering club,

Hotel club, Tourism club and Innovation and

Mentorship club. The institution is also known to

have a very vibrant Chess club. Sports such as rugby,

netball and basketball are also very popular at

Zetech.

Facilities at Zetech

Last but not least, the university has state of the art

facilities worth mentioning. The Hamilton Campus

Media Studio provides students with the resources

they need to understand and adopt skills in the latest

media technologies. The institution also has a

computer lab with video editing software, a

dedicated media server and a qualified media

technician to support students and staff.

Zetech University has a highly experienced team,

well equipped facilities and a reasonable tuition fee

structure.
