Youth Mission trip from the Glasgow Church in Delaware Sixteen teens and 8 adults! Tyler Youth Director gives his perspecve of the trip! 3 years ago, I become the Director of Youth Ministries at our church. We have supported Happy Life Children's Home for many years, but Africa just seemed so far away. Plus, who in the world would take a group of teenagers all the way around the world? Too far. Too much for teens. There are "easier" places in the world to go. I didn't even give the possibility of going to Kenya a thought. But. there's this saying that goes, "If you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans." So, you guessed it - Last July, I packed my bags and boarded a plane to Kenya with 21 other adults and teenagers from our church. At our 1 day safari with some Kenyan friends At a Masai market! Our trip was the perfect mix of service and experiencing Kenyan culture. Although we were only in Kenya for a week, we all felt completely immersed. I believe having American teenagers fully expe- rience another culture is so important, as it takes focus off of the "me" world American culture cre- ates. We all loved the Kenyan culture so much, it was difficult to get back on the plane! Everyone at Happy Life was incredibly accommodating to our group. We were treated like family right away. As we went throughout the week, even with such a large group, everyone felt a sense of service and each one in our group used their individual gifts. This was a glorious and beautiful thing to see - a picture of the body of Christ in motion. This would not have been a missions trip without moving a pile of lumber from one place to another! Some of the ladies geng the beans ready for the meal they helped served!

Sixteen teens and 8 adults!

Tyler– Youth Director gives his perspective of the trip!

I believe having American teenagers fully expe-rience another culture is so important, as it takes focus off of the "me" world American culture cre-ates.

This would not have been a missions trip without moving a pile of lumber from one place

to another! Some of the ladies getting the beans ready for the meal they helped served!
