Our You Can Do It! focus this fortnight is Staying on Task. A common behaviour that we all struggle with at some point is procrastination. It's silly because we know what the negative consequences of not doing our work or chores are likely to be and yet we still put off doing them, sometimes to the very last minute. Procrastination become a serious blocker when it happens frequently and when you put off doing important things like studying for an important test. The first step to overcoming this blocker is deciding you want to stop procrastinating. Next, you need to get rid of any excuses you have for not doing your work such as: "I'll do it tomorrow" or "I'm not in the mood". Then there are things you can do to get energised and get started on doing the task you want to accomplish.

We are still taking enrolments for children starting Kindy in 2020.

Children eligible for Kindy in 2020 were born between

1st July 2015 and 30th June 2016.

Enrolment forms are available at the office. Please bring a Birth Certificate and

Up to date Immunisation Records (from MyGov) for your child upon enrolment.

On Monday 25th December our School Choir, under the guidance of Mrs Delich performed several songs at

the Boyanup Community Senior’s luncheon organised by the Boyanup CWA, held at the Hugh Kilpatrick Hall.

The choir group sang several songs including ‘This is Me’, ‘Don’t Give up on Me’, the ‘Cup Song’ and the

Pre Primary Class performed to ‘Wombat Wobble’. The students were very entertaining and the Seniors

thoroughly enjoyed the presentation.

An ongoing focus for Year5/6 class is how kindness, community and belonging can make a difference to your own health and the health of others. The class have formed ‘tribes’ and each tribe has chosen a way to contribute to the community and spread a message of kindness.

‘Kindness Crew’ and ‘Wild Tribe’ have chosen Care bags for Kids as their community organisation; creating backpacks filled with new essential items that are then distributed to children entering emergency foster care. Any new clothing items, toiletries or comfort items can be donated and would be greatly appreciated. Care Bags for Kids - https://www.facebook.com/groups/CareBagsWesternAustralia/

‘Storm Kids’ are collecting non-perishable food items and money for the Bunbury Soup Van Inc. This organisation provides meals for many needy families in our community.

https://www.facebook.com/bunburysoupvan/

‘Griffindor’ are stitching felt hearts to give to people to distribute kindness and hope to anyone who needs to be reminded that they matter. They will be raising funds to purchase sewing materials. Check out the 1000 Hearts Kindness Project site for more information https://www.1000hearts.com.au/ and please donate what you can to their fundraising tin.

‘The Infinite Hobos’ are raising money for The Fred Hollows Foundation, where as little as $25 can restore the sight that someone has lost due to cataracts. Please donate to their tin. https://www.hollows.org/au/home

A ‘donation station’ is set up in the Central Area with information posters. Please take the time to read and support our students in whatever way you can. They are keen to make a real difference in their community.

Many Thanks! Mrs Lauren Delich

Local girl Ruby O’Connor, aged 9 has written a book called ‘Nanny Does This

and Granny Does That’. The book tells the story of her love for both her

grandmothers and how they are both so different. We have been very lucky

to receive a copy of Ruby’s book, donated to the school from the Boyanup

Lions Club.

The book came about through a home school project and was published by

‘The Book Incubator’. It took Ruby about 8 weeks to complete and that

includes all of her beautiful hand drawn illustrations.

Ruby’s book is currently on display in the library and will be available for

borrowing next year. A big thank you to Ruby and to the Boyanup Lions Club!

END OF YEAR BORROWING: Please have all library books returned by FRIDAY, 6th DECEMBER 2019

If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Wishing you all Safe and Happy Holidays!
