Hunter Safety Education Classes:These mandatory courses consist of classroom instruction and home study. Passage of a final exam is required. (Must be at least 10 years of age to attend a class for firearms or bow and, if under 16, must be accompanied by an adult.) Firearms: Students receive a course handbook, outdoor survival information, and will need to have a survival kit by the 2nd class.

Bow Hunter: Provides a wealth of knowledge regarding equipment, proper hunting methods, responsibilities, and general safety. Most classes will have some outdoor exercises.

I’m Beginning to Stay Home AloneA 2-session introduction for 8-11 year olds to safety issues they could encounter as they begin to stay home alone for short periods of time. Students bring home an activity booklet with parent notes.

Algebra/Geometry/Math Basics Mon. & Wed. 6-8:00pm Math is everywhere. Gain an in-depth understanding of algebraic formulas, geometry principles or basic math concepts. Learn how to use them to solve problems that you encounter in everyday life. A traditional class presented in a new and interesting way. Earn 1.0 credit in one of these math subject areas.

Bridge to College: FREE! Mon. & Wed. 6-8:30pm Emphasis will be placed on the passage of the Accuplacer exam. Assistance in math, reading, and writing will be provided to achieve this goal. Learn the fundamentals of good study habits, college life and understand the college writing process. See Page 13 for more information.

Evening Class Schedule

Forensics: Thurs. 5:30-8:30pmThis course focuses on the skills and concepts behind crime scene investigation and forensic science. Whether you desire to be crime scene investigator, forensic pathologist, or some other medical scientist, this course will help you hone your investigative skills and review a wide range of science concepts. You will review physics, chemistry, anatomy, cell biology, environmental science and computer science in the process of learning about forensic science.

Chemistry with lab: Tues. & Thurs. 5:30-7:30pmA study of the basic principles with a special emphasis on chemistry in the environment, Periodic Table, states of matter, chemistry reactions and equations. A great college prep course!

HiSET® Prep: Mon. & Wed. - Daytime & Evening hours available.If you are at least 17 years old and need a high school credential for work or college, but have not earned enough credits to complete your high school diploma, the HiSET® may be for you. A state approved exam that has replaced the GED in the state of Maine. To earn your high school equivalency, you are required to successfully complete 5 exams in the areas of Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies. HiSET® preparation and testing are free. Entrance into the program begins with a skills assessment and interview.
