FOREWORD2010-2013, I was studying Bachelor of architecture in UNSW. This portfolio records most of my works in that period and one competition design in 2014.
As Ludwig Mies van der Rohe's Words: “Architecture starts when you carefully put two bricks together. There it begins.” The architecture design is about a physical shelter--the bricks, and an artistic approach -- the way to put together. The aforementioned can represent my learning from bachelar studies, both space and structure design which demonstrates the reflections of human sense and the demands of technology.
The design studio projects lead us to consider from client to site, urban context to natural environment, smaller scale to skyscrapers. Among these, I have divided them into private and public catagories, followed by a competition design for aquatic centre in Green Square, Sydney.

PUBLIC DESIGN1PART
My design concept is all inspired by the Dunns Swamp natural environment. The overall scheme layout related to the major element of the physical site: the sandstone rock cliff.
This is a place for bushwalkers, who gain the experience by both bush walking and accomandating in the building.
Moreover, most if experience that I created in this scheme are from process of site visitng, such as the narrower space in between the huge sandstones which is related to the space between my scheme and the surrounding rock surface, and the spatial relation in the dining hall are inspired by the hierarchy of the vertical space from higher lookout on top of the sandstone peak.

CONSTRUCTION DETAILDinning Hal l : I t i s the biggest structure which responds to the biggest void of the Sandstone Pogodas. As a comunicational space, the dinning hall has not only blends the horizontal space in, but also enhances the vertical circulation by the stairs and ramp. Moreover, it is the only sturcture that has opening to the public area to share the river views and north sunlights.
The chimney of the fire space can improve the passive cooling in summer by employing stack effect and also assist the earth pipe cooling system.

DESIGN CONCEPTR i v e r s i d e t h e a t r e d e s i g n employed an abstract form with a functional planning layout. The two parts of the scheme: the public area with audience seating and the stage area with backstage, offices are designed separately. The layout of the lower level backstage follows the grid plan just like the surrounding urban plan, and the upper level plan uses the curved flexible circulation area to link two round theatres. The efficient lower level plan allows two theatre’s stages sharing the loading zone and the backstage rehearsal. The upper level uses the concept of binding the river way to round two theatres and form the two entrances and the coffee shop.

Lounge Bar & Appartment Complex
DESIGN CONCEPT
This design locates on a narrow block. The main concept of my desgin is using a dig in area in lounge bar and a risen area in appartment to keep a connected tunnal while protect the privacy and prevent the noise.
The lounge bar interior planning keeps the feeling that created by two steps lower area by introducing a upper level by a striking circulation staircase. Those three units located crossly to increase the sun exposure area while keep the privacy.

Another interesting idea comes from site. The Victoria street is like a very long box, very stable style, but through our site is the downtown space which very dynamic and changeful, also lighter. So our building are in the middle from dark enclosure to light and opening. And also, from aspect of art, my idea is that when u in darkness, u can see more into yourself but from light u can get more information from world. So I decided show this contrast in my building. and also used a flexible structure to control the light. That's another reason I used this irregular roof. This shape which go through this house can not only control the light inside, but also redirect natural light to apartments beside it. For the house below, it seems a very big space with one block wall, but this wall is separating this space into three space, living and dining, studio and bedroom. For the upper house, that shape also separate space into reading, mus ic room and bedroom space. that irregular shape also being a skylight there.

Potts Point Double House Design
DESIGN CONCEPT--The way that you can get from giving in a building is the way that you can feel that you make this building different. the man also is the material of the architecture, material of the art. But there is an important thing that make them feel that, directly.
My design is about the relationship of art and life. I believe that art comes from life and it can come back to be a part of life. The house have a gallery and two houses. So because lots of arts and life are happening here, I am aiming to shown the relationship between art and life. first is about how to divided two houses. because I believed that art and life cannot be separated so I decided use gallery-which represent the art, to be a block to divide two houses and make some interactions. which u can see in these section and plan. Meanwhile this gallery would be full of skylight and opening, glazing that allows lights in and then reflecting or passing some lights to those two houses which means that art can enlighten life. So basic space divided is like that. The first room is a space that half opening and really close to the public space. I plan to display pop art collections which is easy to attract people and easy to copy- so it's cost less money and do not need that much protect from weather and damage. inner gallery is divided to 2 spaces, first is kind of regular and the other is kind of irregular. Regular part looks like an old fashion normal museum which has vertical walls, rectangle opening, but it is for abstractionism art pieces. which does not look like directly come from our daily life. And another space is surrounding by that lots of triangle and triangle opening, that is for super realism artists whom aim to pull art back to daily life and against some of weird abstract arts. And if we seen this way, the regular shape part of room, although those vertical walls looked common, but it doesn't do anything more than be a building, be a wall. the wall just the wall itself. But with the irregular part, every piece of triangle got it character besides being block panel, it is used as opening for light, view, or be a sitting place or something, which makes visitors felt very close to the man that living in this double house. very close to life. Moreover, I also do this opening here for a sharing display wall, not only that super realism art works are super big, but also emphasized this connection between art and life, they can share this art work. So u can see, all I am doing here is do this highly contrast space for display the art works that may have opposite meaning, so those art pieces would be more distinguished. And it may let people who come to visit to feel more.

North Bondi Appartment
DESIGN CONCEPT My design is based on the analysis of each households living space, the unit is divided into living space (living, dining and bedroom) and working space (kitchen, laundry room, bathroom) two spaces. Then, I used the two surfaces to represent these two a space. Because of the natural advantages of sea views on Bondi, which can enrich the quality the living surface, the living surface can be constructed face to the ocean view. So, I need to create another surface, working surface. My idea is came from the working in the kitchen, I think people's work area is a radius not more than one meter's semi-circular area, and equipment required for the work should be surrounded by people rather than people need to move to use it. I thought The second surface can be flowing and flexible that kitchen equipment can be placed, while providing outstanding indoor and outdoor connecting surface to guide the entire apartment circulation, and interacting with landscape. But while facing the wall cannot achieve a large area lighting or ventilation, which, incidentally, has become my another idea, using this thick walls to protect the privacy of this apartment. By combining these two surfaces and together, I got the initial shape of the building, a long block of apartments.
Next, sit analysis, the Northeast side buildings of the site are higher which can look into our site, and the Southeast side has the view of the Bondi beach. So I can bend the initial block into a L-shaped building, and place on the Northeast side of the site. On the one hand it can protect the entire apartment's privacy by blocking the views, on the other hand, it create a private communal courtyard face to the sea, and all living surface are facing to the sea and communal garden. And northeast side of the land can be left to become a circulation space. This space has an interesting wall and a lot of landscape compositions communicate with the working surface wall. The second step, I pull two L-shaped blocks outer to get a secondary garden in the northeast corner. To do so, not only interrupted the long circulation space, and got a sunny garden which has a completely different experience compare with the courtyard space. The third step will be two slightly rotating of 2 blocks, increasing the courtyard space while make circulation space become opening to the secondary garden rather than being 2 parallel space, This can promote the flow of traffic from spatial aspect. Restaurant is placed on the road and has 2 floors. First it may get sea views, the second is to enhance the privacy of the Communal garden.Wall design for work, I have analyzed the human body, and made a 30 cm thick multi-layered walls, which can be easily installed with facilities, lighting, seats. It can be designed more rational and functional in detail, which includes the lighting for different purpose, ventilation needs, vertical circulations, the needs of the seat against the wall. A total of 10 apartment layout simpler taken two ways. For apartment on north, the majority have a jump-out balcony so that they get a sea view outdoor space. Built-east balcony was dig-in terrace to reduce the overheating summer sun. Dining and living rooms and more outdoor space around the balcony, workspace is a lot of the advantages of using the working surface wall. There are two structural systems, one is frame structure, making the side closed to the courtyard can have large area of the opening. The second is a simple masonry of structure that will work for their own l oad-bearing of those curve walls.

Th is des ign i s attempting to br ing in architecture in a human scale which injects new dynamics to Green Square, the historical industrial site. The design of the aquatic centre wi l l merge the urban parkland and sport facilities. The form of the building and the urban landscape will be integrated and interplay with each other. This will provide the maximum urban space for the residents. By extending the urban parkland via the form of the building, residents could view the city from the roof platform. At the same time, it will dissolve the building within the city. The aquatic centre will transform into a fantasy landscape that are natural, seamless, flexible and chaotic. The building will be as at waterfall that are constantly changing yet long lasting. The fluidity of the water and the dynamic of the activities on the floating landscape act as a wave that vibrates the atmosphere and becomes the curvature of the building. When viewing from far, the force of the nature reflected on the building as if the soft landscaping has the lightness of cloud spreading over the site. The undulation of the roof form becomes the overlapping of the mountain landscape. The movement of the bui ld ing form as if dolphins jumping out of the water and interacting with the ocean wave. The disturbed building and the settled urban parkland is bridged together and becomes the entry point of the building.

The raised green carpet due to the vibration of the water forms the internal spaces of the building. The force of the water established a relationship between the external space to the inter ior space as a continuous blanket for the internal act iv i t ies and the external activities. Visitors flow fluidly in between. The external space is then folded back into the interior which blurs the boundary between thebuilding, landscape, parkland, external and internal area. The fluidity of the aquatic center is in contrast of the surrounding square-formed bu i ld ing . I t es tab l i shed a non-hierarchical area. The continuation of the floor to the walls; f rom the wall to the cei l ing undef ined the dist inguished boundary of building and its surrounding environment. The breaks the definite defined space as of the surrounding. T h e a q u a t i c c e n t r e becomes the focus of the neighborhood.

OrientationThe orientation of the building utilizes the northern aspect to maximize solar access within the building. The unfolded landscape also gives opportunity for high-level skylight to further enhance solar access to the internal space of the different activities in the building. Solar Panel will also be installed to the roof top of the building.EnergyA trigeneration plant is proposed for the project. This will generate the heat and energy required to heat up the pool and other facilities, such as shower. It could also provide heating services for the neighbouring new development in Green Square.WaterRainwater collected from the roof will be stored on site for reuse, such as irrigation to the urban parkland.
Structure The structure of the building will be a space frame steel system which provides a continuous, column-free space to the interior. This column free space also allows for flexible internal layout to the different type of activities within. It emphasized the continuity of the exterior and the interior with this column-free space. The bridge does not merely act as the connection between the aquatic center and the urban landscape, but also acting as a bridge for pedestrian crossing the site for safety issues. Underneath the bridge is not only the road but also the exit & entry point of the underground carpark. The outdoor swimming pool area is dropped down from the street level. It creates a privacy area for the visitor within while also acting as a sound barrier between the road and the pool area. The setback area from the street will be landscaped for pedestrian access and acting as a privacy screen. Only portion of the walkway will allow the pedestrian to look down to the pool area for public and private interaction. There will be two amphitheatre at the two entrance points as a seating area or performance space.
