He started these sessions in 2003 when working with teens who have been effected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic. He started to do this as an opportunity to share a male perspective on healthy living. He adds “I love working with youth and young adults to learn more about healthy living habits from a COOL perspective /

Dear Shining Star,

How do I protect my-self when using web sites like Facebook and Myspace?

Sincerely,

Online

Dear Online,

You could protect yourself by thinking about what you post online because once it is on the internet, it’s there forever. Watch who you talk to, only accept friend requests from family and really close friends and don't put everything in profile.

Sincerely,

Sincerely Shining Star

Dear Shining Star,

Why do some people use drugs and alco-hol at school?

Sincerely,

Concerned

Dear Concerned,

I think some people start using drugs and alcohol because they are having a hard time at home or want to fit in with another crowd. Other reasons could be peer influence to be popular. Drugs and alcohol are not healthy options . Stay above the influence.

Sincerely,

Shining Star

Dear Shining Star,

I’m tired of getting picked on at school and I don’t know why. Please help.

Sincerely,

Bullied

Dear Bullied,

Sometimes kids get picked on at school because of their shoes, clothes or they just don’t like that person anymore than they like themselves. The bully could be jealous of the person they’re bully-ing. You could avoid interacting with them, tell a teacher or stand up for yourself by being assertive without vio-lence. Sometimes not responding to everything people say will help make that person stop. Keep your head up.

Sincerely,

Shining Star
