WEEKLY HOMEWORK LETTER

YEAR GROUP 4 NO. 5 DATE: 4.5.2020

FOCUS TASK(S) GUIDANCE ENGLISH This week the children are expected to complete daily

reading, using Reading Plus. They should complete one reading lesson and one vocabulary lesson each day. https://login.readingplus.com/

The information is inside the orange homework books. Children choose the articles that interest them and follow the on screen instructions.

Task 1 – Character description Children should complete the character description for either Sheila or Hercules.

Children must watch the video or read the story, if you have it, before they start the tasks. All activities are found below. Task 2 – The rocket Children label the picture of Shelia’s rocket to show what it has been made from and then put these ideas into sentences. Try to use fronted adverbials from last week’s work.

Task 3 – Order the story Children should use the pictures to order the story. Write in sentences, explaining the events in each picture, to re-write the story.

Task 4 – Write an alternate story ending Imagine you are the author of the story. Could there be a different ending? Write a different ending for the story. You could add illustrations too!

Task 5 – Hippo fact file Children should read the information and then complete the sheet to create a fact file about hippos.

Spellings – Homophones A homophone is a word that is pronounced the same as another word but differs in meaning. A homophone may also be spelt differently.

Jesus rises from the dead Read from Luke’s gospel 24:1-43. Focus on the interactions between Jesus and his disciples. Children should then complete the table with the headings; What the disciples were doing, what they saw, what Jesus said and did.
