Sorry I couldn’t be here today for the first lesson of your

assessment, so I’ve left these instructions…

WHAT TO DO

• By the end of this lesson, you should have written at least 5 sentences in Japanese about

the town you’re advertising。

• These should all be in Hiragana!

• The next slide will remind you of how to put the two key sentence patterns together.

• I would recommend you spend this lesson working on the script (what your brochure is

going to actually say) and making it look pretty later!

• There’s a handout with some bonus sentence patterns for those of you chasing a better

mark…!

TALKING ABOUT YOUR TOWN

• 1. “I live in [_____]”

[______] ni sunde imasu

[______] に すんで います

Example:

“I live in Tokyo.”

Tokyo ni sunde imasu

東京 に すんで います

• 2. “There is a [_____] [_____]”

[______] [______] ga arimasu

[______] が あります

Example:

“There is an old shrine.”

Furui jinja ga arimasu

ふるい じんじゃ が あります
