Handwriting• In class, we have been working super hard on our

relative size (tall and small letters) and making sure that our letters are joined in a clear way.

• Please copy out these Year 4 spelling bee words to help our spelling and our handwriting at the same time!

• Challenge – you could then use a spelling pyramid to practise the spelling of the word you find the trickiest.

SPAG (Spelling and Grammar)Over the past two days, we have been reminding ourselves of the different types of conjunctions that we can use in our writing. We know that we can use coordinating conjunctions and subordinating conjunctions.

Activity:Pick 2 FANBOYS conjunctions and finish these sentences.Example: The man picked up the bag of rubbish and put it in the bin.Ronnie the cat purred loudly...Betty peered out of the window...

Pick 3 ISAWAWABUB conjunctions to finish these sentences. This time add these conjunction to the start of the sentence.Example: As Miss Turner sipped her morning coffee, she spilt it down her shirt._________ Chewie was hungry,..._________ the girl was young,..._________ school had started,...

To join in with this session you will need access to a program called 'PIXILART'.Pixilart is free and can be accessed in a number of ways...

Through a web-browser!On a PC, Mac and some tablets, the easiest way to access PIXILART is through your web browser. Simply visit www.pixilart.com/draw to get started.

On an Ipad/Ipod/Iphone – PIXILART is available for download on the app store. It is free, but there is also a paid version; no need to get that! Just click on the free version, allow it to download and away you go!

On an android tablet – PIXILART is available for download on the app store. It is free, but there is also a paid version; no need to get that! Just click on the free version, allow it to download and away you go!

Or if you don't want to rely on technology – You could complete these activities on squared, gridded paper. Either tear some out of a book or make some yourself with a pencil and a ruler.

Yesterday, you designed a new character for your very own video game. This should have been a pencil and paper design.Today, you are going to create a rough draft of your sprite on PIXILART . How you create your pixel design is up to you, but it may help to follow the steps that I went through to create my design below.

Grumpy Steven

First, I selected the circle from my toolbox. Then, I held the left clicker on my mouse and dragged the curser outwards to create a circle. I then made another circle this same way. These circles became the eyes of Grumpy Steven.

Next, I selected the pencil tool to draw the outline of Grumpy Steven. I also used two more circles to create the eyes. As pixel-art is two-dimensional, I made his tail smaller at the bottom to make it seem further away. This is called forced perspective. Give it a try!If you make a mistake, select the eraser and rub out what you don't need.

After I felt happy with the outline, I decided to add some colour. You can choose default colours on the right of the screen, but you can also mix your own on the left if you wish. To fill in large spaces of colour, choose the icon that looks like a tin of paint from your toolbox. Then, select your colour and click on the area you wish to fill. Be aware; if there is a gap in your picture, the colour will spill out!

Voila! One rough draft. He's not perfect, but I am happy with him for a first attempt.
