Spelling Activity

This week we are practising the soft /th/ sound.Pronunciation: How to say the sound /th/ (as in thirsty).

● Open your lips and rest your tongue between your teeth.

● Let air gently escape between your top teeth and your tongue.● Feel your tongue poking out of your mouth or use a mirror to see it.● Soft /th/ is a long, blowy sound.● If you are saying /f/, stick your tongue out a bit more!

Try to find a sunny spot in your house or in theclassroom. Pretend you are a snowman. Closeyour eyes. How cold and still would you be?Scrunch your fingers and toes as tight as youcan and feel your muscles tighten. Slowly beginto melt as you start to feel warm. Wiggle your fingers and toes. Let yourbody slowly melt into the floor.

Make sure you proof-read your workcarefully.

Tip: Reading your work aloud while you are proof-reading helps you tofind any mistakes that need to be edited.

Use a different coloured pencil or pen to make changes so you cansee what you have added and edited to your work.

Remember that there is always something that you can improve on in your writing. Have agrowth mindset and challenge yourself!

● Throw away/recycle any rubbish or scrap paper● Wipe down your desk space● Find the items that used to live there and arrange them as they were

When you have finished, see if anyone else in your house needshelp doing the same thing!
