Year 2 Visit to York Chocolate Story

Dear Parents/Carers,

As part of our topic on Where in the World Does Willy Wonka Get His Chocolate From? and our

Materials topic in Science, we will be visiting Yorks famous Chocolate Story. During the day,

the children will be taken on a tour of the Chocolate Story, learning all about the process of

making chocolate as well as discovering famous chocolatiers and sweet makers (also sampling

chocolate along the way). The children will take part in a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

themed workshop where they will participate in exciting Drama activities to improve their

speaking and listening skills. As well as all of these lovely activities, the children will make their

own Mr Wonka creation which they can take home and enjoy! There will also be an opportunity

for the children to create their own lickable wallpaper during the workshop.

This is the very first time that children in Year 2 will be visiting the Chocolate Story and we are

all extremely excited! We know that the children will have a fabulous time and this experience

will definitely enhance their learning.

We will leave school at 9am and arrive back at school at the later time of 4pm. All children will

need to wear their school uniform for the visit. A packed lunch will be provided for all children

who would normally have a school dinner.

We would ask for a voluntary contribution of 8.00 per child to cover the cost of entry to the

Chocolate Story, the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory workshop and their Mr Wonka creations.

Unfortunately, if we do not receive enough money via such voluntary contributions, the trip may

have to be cancelled. You can pay online for this school activity by visiting

The school is paying the cost of the coach for this school visit, with the support of our PTA,

Friends of Ingleby Mill.
