English Language Extended Tier - 2hr Core Tier - 1hr 30min

Students will sit an iGCSE reading examination paper. Students sitting the core tier are tested on their

ability to understand and extract information from one text and discuss the effects of language and produce one extended piece of writing based on that text. Students sitting the extended tier are required to respond to two texts and are tested on their ability to extract information, summarise, discuss the effects of language and produce extended writing based on a text.

Mathematics Higher Tier – 1hr 45 min Foundation Tier – 1hr 30min

The practice exams will consist of two GCSE papers, equally weighted. One is a calculator paper, the other is a non-calculator paper. The exams can assess any topic area from the entire edexcel (HT) or OCR (FT) syllabus.

Each student will be provided with a targeted homework pack to complete over the Christmas break. The best way to revise Maths is to practice Maths. * Use past exam papers from the appropriate exam board website. * Use your learning passport to identify gaps in knowledge. * Use Corbett maths for video tutorials. * Use My Maths for lessons on topics which are further supported with online questions. * Use Kerboodle to access an online text book.

Science 1hr 30min

AS1 paper includes

Biology (B2.1 to B2.4) - Cells and simple transport, tissues organs and organ systems, photosynthesis, Organisms in the environment including distribution of organism Chemistry 2 (C2.1 to C2.3)- Structure and bonding, how structure influences the properties and uses of substances, metals, atomic structure analysis and quantitative chemistry. Physics 2 (P2.1 to P2.3) - forces and their effects, kinetic energy of objects speeding up or slowing down, current in electrical circuits.

GCSE PE 1hr 30min plus 2hr practical CA session

Controlled assessment – Students have been working on their presentations in PE lessons. They are permitted to bring a maximum of 2xA4 sides of hand written notes into the exam. The Controlled Assessment will be completed over 2 hours in examination conditions. Students are required to explain strengths and weaknesses in a chosen sport, before suggesting how sports performance can be improved further. Practice exam – Students will compete a full past

Students can prepare for their exam using their class books/files and the revision resources available on the VLE. A pre-prepared scenario has been given to students to support their preparations for Section B questions.

AQA exam paper, lasting 1 hour 30 minutes.

Drama 1hr

Students will complete a past paper on 'Face' the play. Questions will be based around characters, costumes and technical designs for a number of selected scenes. Drama Journals, the play script and handouts.

Music 1 day practical assessment

Each student will be allocated a half hour slot where they will be expected to perform their SOLO piece. Each student has already had a discussion with the teacher regarding their choice of material and has been given feedback as to what they need to do to be successful in this performance. Students are marked on their ability to perform the music with accuracy and with expression. Performing the notes that are written in the music notation is a prerequisite. In addition to this students should check that the music they have does reflect the actual notation they are performing. In terms of expression, students should ensure that they play the piece so that it sounds stylistically correct. They also need to perform dynamic markings as written on the music score. If a music score is not used then an audio recording of the original version that the student learnt from should be passed to the teacher.

Catering 2hr

Paper consists of shorter 3 mark questions & longer 6 mark, 10 mark and 16 mark questions. Topics for revision = Food hygiene & safety including prevention of accidents & rle of environmental health fficer (EHO), temperature controls, knives, risks to health of sugar, versatility of cheese in cooking, Communication in the catering industry, record keeping, packaging, environmental considerations.

Y11 Revision Pack will be issued. Plus students have Y10 Revision pack which they should consult. Revision book available to purchase.

Media 2hr 15min
