Y10 Mock Exams – Revision

Subject Assessment Length Student overview Revision resources

Mathematics 2 exams of 90 minutes each

GCSE Mathematics has a Foundation tier (grades 1 – 5) and a Higher tier (grades 4 – 9). Both the Foundation and Higher tier follow the AQA syllabus. Students will be completing two 90 minute exam papers. These will be of a similar style to the GCSE papers they will complete at the end of Year 11. Students will be assessed on anything they have learnt throughout KS3 and the beginning of KS4.

The content briefly comprises of Number, Algebra, Geometry, Measures, Statistics and Probability. All

content can be assessed on any of the two question papers. As such, some questions will draw together

elements of maths from different topic areas. The new GCSE in mathematics demands both greater depth of

theoretical understanding of content as well as application of understanding through problem solving

and reasoning.

The best way to revise Maths is to practice Maths. Use Kerboodle to access an online textbook Use Mymaths to access lessons on topics which are further supported with online questions Use Corbett Maths for video tutorials Use the revision guide and workbook to review topics and practice questions

History Year 10 will sit a full Paper 2 which will test the Cold War and Henry VIII and his ministers.

Students should use their exercise books from Year 9 and Year 10. There are textbooks available to buy on Amazon - should you wish to purchase one of these, please ask your child to get the title off their classroom teacher. In addition to content, students should use their exercise books to look at the technique needed for different questions. Students will be given a list of indicative content and the type of exam question to take home and revise over Easter.

Geography

Year 10 Geography Year 10 will sit a mock exam based on the topics they have studied since September. This will be a combination of questions from Unit 1 - Global Geographical Issues and Unit 2 - UK Geographical Issues. It will cover the topics of Development

Students should use their exercise books from Year 10 for revision and there are revision guides available to buy on Amazon - should you wish to purchase one of these, please ask your child to get the title off their classroom teacher. In addition to content, students should use their exercise books to revise the exam technique required - especially for the longer 12 mark questions.

Dynamics, UK Human Fieldwork of a Dynamic Urban area and the UK's Evolving Human Landscape.

GCSE RE

The 10 RS exam will focus on three topics studied within the GCSE course so far (Christian beliefs, Christian practices and religious attitudes to crime and punishment).

All aspects of these topics should be revised and classes will be given an extended overview of what to revise. The questions will follow the usual format, with 5 questions being asked on each topic. Students should use their exercise books and revisions folders created over the course so far.
