Daisy Bear wanted to go home with Jude because he has been doing so well with his care routines. He enjoyed meeting Jude’s mummy, daddy, sister Leah and even his cousins. They took a family day trip to Southport where they enjoyed going on all the rides. After a long day they had cuddles in mummy and daddy’s bed with a bedtime story.

Poppy Bear had an exciting weekend with Lucy who has also been doing well with her care routines. She met Lucy’s mummy and daddy, sister Madeleine and brother Patrick. Poppy Bear went on a day trip with Grandma to Morecambe for afternoon tea and saw some friendly faces from Nursery at Shalini’s birthday party. Harriet

Harriet has been such a good girl at Nursery with good listening and good helping skills that Poppy wanted to spend the weekend at her house. Poppy Bear met Harriet’s mummy, daddy, brother Cameron and sister Johanna as well as her four cats: Ruby, Tiger, Amber and Kit Kit. She enjoyed watching Harriet swimming with her mum and sister as well as going to Sunday school where she learnt new songs and coloured in lots of pictures. We continue to develop the children’s communication, language and literacy through our daily circle time routines and involving ourselves in their play and social activities including snack and lunch times. This month we have been learning about farm animals and the noises they make.

We have also been doing some phonics and learning the first letter of our names. The children’s favourite stories this month have been Monkey Puzzle and Harry and the Robots. If you have any spare boxes of any shape or size, please bring them in as the children want to make their own Robots.

We started the year by learning all about Chinese New Year and enjoyed sampling some Chinese cuisine. Oscar’s mum kindly donated some yummy fortune cookies for all the children to sample as well as some lovely authentic decorations to resource our role play area.

The children had an exciting trip to WellyBobs farm at Pre-school where they managed to experience animals first hand. Miss Morton and Miss Fox had a go at their flipping skills for Pancake day where the children enjoyed eating pancakes and finding out their favourite toppings.

The children have enjoyed a lot of group play this month through their visits to WellyBobs farm and group discus-sions about Shrove Tuesday and Chinese New Year. They have also celebrated some birthdays with the older children and been learning how to share through various activities. They have been learning about raising money for charity through their participation in Humphrey’s Pyjama party and how we help the other children in need who are poorly.

The children have been developing both fine and gross motor skills within their activities at Nursery. They have enjoyed manipulating string through holes when threading as well as developing their pencil control when tracing and taking part in dot to dot activities. They have been learning to move like animals and sea life animals in the Twinkle Toes session and have been able to practise pedalling skills using the equipment outdoors.

The children have been very creative this month through developing their role play imagination. They have enjoyed playing in the domestic role play area and extending this into the taking their “babies” to the farm shop to get the shopping. Many of them have done this through taking a bus all the way to New York! They have also been learning to be creative with colours through mixing paints to discover new colours for their artwork. They have also enjoyed making Valentine’s cards for Mum and Dad.

We constantly promote problem solving and support children in numeracy and use of mathematical language in their play. We have encouraged them to count money when purchasing items in the role play farm shop and measuring and weighing ingredients when baking. These are all important skills to develop for the future. The children have also been mark making with different sizes of Duplo and comparing these to understand variations in size.

WOW MOMENTS

Sophie has enjoyed a trip to Blackpool Zoo with her family - despite the rain, hail and icy wind, they all had a great time. Sophie especially liked the dinosaur exhibition but also loved watching the penguins dive and swim.

She has also made one of the Kokeshi dolls that she received as a birthday gift. First of all she needed to sew the felt body together (with a little help from Mum!) then added stuffing, a face and decorations. Sophie really enjoys creative activities and particularly likes making characters to keep such as this one.

Ella went to Beatrix Potter Land Museum and

then went for some yummy Tapas. She also

went to Blackpool Zoo with big cousin Bethany

to see the Giraffes and Elephants.

Jessica enjoyed a day trip to Ambleside where

she went on a boat and visited Smithall’s

Farm.

Jazmine

Jazmine became a big sister to Evie.

During the month of February, we celebrated a number of birthdays.

Yahya brought in some yummy cakes for all the children to share. We all sang Happy Birthday in big loud voices, while he enjoyed blowing out the candles.

Shalini celebrated with a super duper party at Lit-tle Rascals in Preston. Some children from Nursery attended as did Poppy Bear who was being looked after by Lucy Dixon.

Miss Madden turned 21 and we also celebrated Mrs Ghanbari’s birthday.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
