Introduction --------------------------------------------- -

Head of Learning – Year 13 Mr R Crickett

Tel: 0161 434 5378Email: [email protected]

Dear Parents/Carers,

It is with great pleasure that I continue to work with this year group into the final two terms at Parrs Wood Sixth Form. As their Head of Learning, my primary concern remains focussed on ensuring that all students achieve the very best that they can. I will do this by monitoring and reporting back to you on your child’s progress at regular intervals during the year. Behind the scenes I will be working hard to provide support, to enable the students to access their work and gain success.  I will liaise with the various faculties, support networks including our own learning mentor and agencies to strategically target help where it is needed.

No matter what support is put in place, your child will ultimately be responsible for their learning, and it starts with continuing to get the basics right; attending sixth form every day, arriving punctually with all equipment needed, and organising themselves effectively.

It is very important that parents, tutors and teachers work in partnership to ensure that students fulfil their potential over this now very short period and your child's tutor is your first point of contact if you have any concerns or questions. Equally, a member of the sixth form team will contact you if we have concerns, especially if the concern affects full attendance as this has a direct impact on academic performance.

Tutor time continues to be a compulsory element of their time table in order for tutors to offer support with specific advice and guidance with future university and job applications. There will be a student briefing once a week on a Monday, tutors will meet with all tutees twice each week as a group and students will also have individual appointments each term. If you wish to contact your child’s tutor, please call on the Sixth Form number, 0161 434 5378 and leave a message for them and they will call you back as soon as they can.

Alternatively you can write to them at the relevant e-mail address:

learning experience for our new students. You will also have the opportunity to meet the Sixth Form Management Team. I do hope you will be able to attend. There will also be an opportunity to meet teachers and Sixth Form staff at the Year 13 Parents’ Evening on 16th November. You will receive more notice of this nearer the time. I am also always happy to make additional appointments to meet with you and your child to discuss any concerns you may have, and will make every effort to resolve any problems.I look forward to meeting you in the future. Looking at both global and localised features which work together to create distinctive weather patterns, finishing off by looking at Global climate change, and how our actions are changing the global climate, and how we could possibly alter this.
