MOBILE UNITS

The situation:A customer who manufactures and markets pro-motional articles told us about large seasonal fl uc-tuations in his business. At peak times 20 machines were required for the packaging process, at off-peak periods he could manage with only four machines.

Our recommendation:We advised him to mount four machines on wheeled containers which – depending on the work-load – could be easily moved between the packag-ing stations. In addition, the wheeled containers are equipped with optical sensors ensuring that there is always enough packaging material available.

The result:With only four machines mounted on wheeled con-tainers, the customer covered his requirements for packaging material over all seasonal fl uctuations. With our solution he was also able to dispense with twelve machines and save 40 m2 of space.

The situation:Due to growth of its business, a marketing organiza-tion for animal feed wanted to automate its packag-ing process and at the same time make more effi -cient use of fl oor space.

Our recommendation:We recommended the installation of a machine with a lifter unit over the conveyor belts so that a large enough fi lm buffer was available for the increasing work peaks. A double cage device installation was designed that supplied a total of four workplaces with two machines.

The result:The customer was able to dispense with a total of 16 machines and save 45 m2 of fl oor space. At the same time, the customer noted a permanent im-provement in the working ergonomics.

The situation:A leading fashion mail order company that besides conventional retailing via city stores also offered its merchandise on the internet reported a rapid growth in its online business. In order to remain fl exible in the context of steady growth, it looked for a way to serve as many workplaces as possible with the minimum number of machines. At the same time, the machines should be compact and be easily inte-grated in existing processes.

Our recommendation:We advised 8 square overhead units – each equipped with an internally running machine to sup-ply a total of four workplaces. The width and lengths of the cushioning material was to be especially pro-duced for the customer´s requirements. In addition the project plan made provision for the integration of material buffer units in the existing process infra-structure.

The result:A total of 64 workplaces are now supplied by 16 machines. Furthermore, the cushioning material that was especially adapted to the customer boxes ena-bled a saving of 30% in polyethylene.

When you decide to use FLOETER packaging sys-tems, you automatically decide for the protection of our environment. Because the bottom line with 99% air and only 1% fi lm is an almost 100% reduction in environmental impact.

The latest generation of FLOETER systems is able to process fi lms with a thickness only 20 μm. This can save many tonnes of CO2 emissions that would otherwise be generated in the production of heavy packaging materials. Furthermore, the disposal channels for polyethylene are well established. The plastic residues obtained during recycling can be used to make new and durable products.

By the consistent reduction of the ratio of packaging material, we have succeeded in partnership with our customers to achieve a sustained reduction in envi-ronmental impact.
