All Programs will begin at 2:00 PM

Like people, animals come in a variety of sizes, shapes and colors. The vibrant colors and patterns found in the show not only the beauty of all living things, but also serve to help animals survive in their habitats. Colors can send a warning to potential predators, attract a mate, and regulate an animal’s temperature. Patterns aid an animal with camouflage and with mimicry of more dangerous species. Community members will learn about these diverse colors and patterns and what they mean and will meet Animal Ambassadors such as a Fire-bellied Toad, a Red-foot Tortoise, a California King Snake, a New Caledonian Giant Gecko, a White Chinchilla and an Indian Peahen.

Bacteria are single-celled organisms. They live in every environment all over the world. They live in our soil, seawater and deep within the earth’s crust. Many bacteria live in and on the bodies of people and animals. Only a few kinds of bacteria cause diseases, which are called pathogens. In our discussion, we will talk about how they affect our everyday living and what preventative measures we can use in order to avoid bacterial infections.

At its peak in the early 20th century, Britain's empire was the largest in the history of the world, greater even than that of ancient Rome. It embraced more than a fourth of the world's population and affected the course of Western civilization in ways almost too numerous to imagine.

Reiki is much easier to define by experience than by definition. Recipients and practitioners describe Reiki as being a wonderful way to experience a sense of balance at many levels. They further describe profound results including, relaxation, joy, calmness, restful sleep, clarity; while some feel similar and more subtle effects several days later. Jeanette and her team will talk more about Reiki's history and its benefits each meeting as well as perform Reiki on any resident interested.

Pocket Billiards, most commonly called "pool", is a form of billiards usually equipped with sixteen balls (a cue ball and 15 object balls), played on a pool table with six pockets built into the rails, splitting the cushions. The pockets (one at each corner and one in the center of each long rail) provide targets (or in some cases, hazards) for the balls. Cindy will teach the basics of how to hold a cue stick and a simple game called "high or low".
