Trojan Room coffee pot…. The Trojan Room coffee pot was the first picture in the “Internet”. The coffee pot was located in the corridor outside the so-called Trojan Room within the Computer Laboratory of the University of Cambridge. The webcam was created to help people working in other parts of the building avoid pointless trips to the coffee room by providing, on the user's desktop computer, a live 128×128 greyscale picture of the state of the coffee pot. The camera was connected to the Internet in November 1993. In August 2001, the camera was switched off.

“…it can be noted that the traditional methods of teaching – how you and I were taught, will not work for the 21st

century students. We need to find new ways of integrating modern technology into all aspects of the curriculum. It is with this idea in mind that I have decided to embark on a course of Training in Education Technology and Society….”

to encourag use of ICT in your teaching…

Major goal of WP 5 C: …to promote ICT in teaching

    (Internet or information CT?)

ICT is hardly being used in the teaching environment! • From research and (online) polls it can be concluded, that there is in

general a deficiency in using up-to-date ICT means in teaching, even in higher education (University/College).

    • This was confirmed in recent results from a questionnaires which was submitted among the workshop participants….(most are teaching)

    • Conclusion: the dread to touch more complex ICT in teaching persists for the majority of teachers....
