THE HOLY FAMILY PRAYER PROGRAM FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 3, AT 7:00 PM IN THE SANCTUARY

Come join us for an evening of prayer, song, and meditation on the blessings and importance of the Holy Family and your family, led by Fr. Mi-chael Barsness and the Knights of Columbus.

This program features a blessed image of the Holy Family which will be the centerpiece of prayer services conducted in churches and council meeting places throughout the Order for the duration of the program.

The Holy Family Prayer Program is the 17th Marian Prayer Program sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, beginning with the first program – honoring Mary under her title of Our Lady of Guadalupe – in 1979. These programs of Marian Prayer have gathered together more than 16 million people at some 140,000 prayer services conducted at local councils and parishes.

ALL ARE WELCOME! “The masterpiece of society is the family: a man and a woman who love

each other!” -- Pope Francis on April 29, 2015

N Thanks to the generous pledges received in the last

couple weeks we are pleased to announce,

St. Vincent de Paul received pledges to meet our third goal, “Pave the Way”.

We have received pledges totaling

$2,531,448.00

which is 84.38% of our Final Goal.

With these commitments, our community will be able to completely pay off both the mortgages and create a driveway on the east end of our property from the new Decatur Avenue as well as make some improvements to our campus.

Many have begun making payments against their pledges. Since the start of the campaign we have paid down an additional $300,000.00 on our education loan. We appreciate your contributions as we look forward to a “burn the mortgage” celebration in the near future!

Thank you for your Generosity

We are still welcoming pledges to reach our final goal

HERITAGE AND IMMIGRATION SUNDAY CELEBRATION – FEBRUARY 12!

Since 2009, the Catholic bishops of Minnesota have designated a Sunday early in the year as Immigration Sunday Minnesota. Immigration Sunday gives us an opportunity to learn more about the Church’s teaching on immigration and raise awareness about migration and immigration issues in Minnesota and beyond. This year at St. Vincent de Paul we are combining it with our annual Heritage Celebration in order to emphasize the relevance of both in our faith life.

The theme of this year’s Immigration Sunday MN is “Creating Communities of Encounter,” as we emphasize the need to respond to immigrants among us as people to be loved, not problems to be solved. So, our parish “Heritage and Immigra-tion Celebration” will be held on the weekend of February 11 & 12. Come with a thankful heart for your heritage and be prepared for a colorful liturgy! For more information: please contact Okey Anyanwu: 763-762-7417.

APPRECIATION NOTE TO “MARCH FOR LIFE”

ATTENDEES

May the good Lord bless each and every

parishioner who joined us to March for Life in

St. Paul last Sunday!

As was rightly pointed out by Minnesota Bishop’s Conference,

“…our duty to protect life and human dignity cannot be confined

to one day a year. It's a monu-mentally important task that

involves our ongoing activism.”

MN Catholics will have another powerful opportunity to protect life and human dignity at CATHOLICS AT THE CAPITOL on March 9. Join our bishops, dynamic speakers, and Catholics from across the state, as we gather to be inspired by our faith, informed about the issues, and equipped to have meaningful conversa-tions with our lawmakers. Catholic voices count. Let's make ours heard! For more information, please contact Okey Anyanwu at the parish office at: 763-762-7417.

The Gospel today reminds us that our lives and our deeds must serve as examples to others, pointing the

way to the Father. Not for our own benefit do we labor, but so that others may see our good works

and give glory to our Father in heaven.

BABY BOTTLE BOOMERANG

It’s time to return your bottles!

St. Vincent’s is participating in a Respect Life “Change for Life” project today called “Baby Bottle Boomerang” – a fun project for the entire family that provides vital funds for a life-saving, life-changing pregnancy center in the Northwest suburbs called Women-Source. This center provides hope for women facing unplanned pregnancies. After Mass, empty baby bottles will be distributed.

Collect pocket change or en-close a cash donation in the baby bottle. Then bring your filled bottles this weekend and next to the

Gathering Space after all Masses.

FLY DELTA? HELP BIZAA!

Basic Institute for the Zonal Advancement of Africa (BIZAA) now has a Delta SkyBonus account that allows the organization to earn points each time you fly on Delta, or on any of their eligible airline partners. BIZAA can then redeem the points for reward tickets for mission travel. The best news? It doesn’t cost you anything, and it doesn’t interfere with you earning personal frequent flyer miles. Each time you fly, you continue earning your SkyMiles miles, while BIZAA earns SkyBonus miles. It’s a WIN – WIN, and only takes one minute for BIZAA to begin benefitting from your travel on Delta.

Simply log in to your Delta account at www.delta.com. Go into your PROFILE (see drop down menu under your name) and click OPEN for FLIGHT PREFERENCES. Next, click EDIT in the SKYBONUS section and simply enter BIZAA’s SkyBonus account number (US0073695). Click SAVE CHANGES and you’re done!

If you (and your friends or family) fly Delta, even infrequent-ly, please consider leveraging that travel to help BIZAA in this simple way.

WOMEN OF FAITH GROUP

Step deeper into your faith journey with a core group of women where you can grow together in your spirituality.

This is an eight week session where we will be discussing the book "Walk in Her Sandals" by Kelly M. Wahlquist.

About the book: What if you could have been a witness to the events of the last days of Jesus' life--walking with him as he entered Jerusalem, observing his crucifixion, and

embracing him on Easter? What would you have thought and done? How would you have been changed? Kelly M. Wahlquist takes you deeper into your relationship with Jesus by helping you relate to him in a profoundly intimate way. Looking at six universal gifts

of women through the eyes of women in the gospels, the book guides you on a prayerful and creative journey through the days of Holy Week, Easter, and Pentecost.

We will be meeting Thursday evenings, from 7:15 - 8:45 PM, Feb 16 through April 6. in the West Meeting Room.

This is open to all women who want to deepen their relationship with God. Space is limited to the first 12 women that respond. The cost of the book is $12-15 which will be due at the first meeting.

If you are interested in joining us, then please email Suzanne Crane at [email protected] or call (612)730-5006 by Feb 12.

(There will be no child care available during these sessions)

Do you feel that God may be calling you to serve in Liturgical ministry?

We are currently in need of volunteers for several of the Liturgical Ministries here at St. Vincent de Paul.

We are in need of more Ushers, Lectors, and Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist.

They should faithfully participate in the Sunday Eucharist and with God’s grace in every aspect of their lives.

Parish Office at (763) 425-2210 or e-mail Steve Barnhart at: [email protected].

BRING OUR GIFTS FORWARD

Families and groups of individuals can now arrange in ad-vance to perform the role of “Gift Bearer” at Mass. The nor-mal practice is to have three people act as a team to bring forward the gifts of wine, water, and bread to present to the Presider at Mass. It is a great way to help celebrate a birth-day, anniversary, graduation, or other memorable event.

Reservations may be made at the Church Office during regular office hours, and may be made for a specific date and Mass time, up to one year in advance. We will “book” the reservation with contact information.

A family or group can always cancel a reservation. The Reservations will be posted Friday afternoon in the Usher Room.

The Family/Group must sit near the gifts table. The Family/Group should introduce themselves to the usher nearest the main doors 10 minutes prior to the beginning of Mass. The usher will remind them of their duties. If no Family/Group that has a reservation has made it known that they are present with less than 10 minutes before Mass, then the usher will select other persons to fulfill this role.
