Notes

This log book should be taken with you to your work experience placement and used to take notes about what has happened during your time on work experience.

Each day you will have a section to fill in relating to your experiences during your placement. Try to fill in the diary each day as you will forget important points and events if you leave it to the end of the week.

To support your evidence it would be helpful to use the log book to research then record information on two different job studies while you are on placement.

You must also ask your supervisor to complete a report – either each day or at the end of the week. This is essential as part of your evidence. You must therefore give the log book to your supervisor to complete and sign the appropriate sections.

DIARY SECTION

Notes to Pupil

There is a page in this section for each day of your placement. You should fill in each page at the end of each day.

If possible, you should also ask your supervisor to complete the accompanying report page at the end of each day. If this is not possible however, the Completion of Tasks section, (Page 26), in the Pupil Assessment Form should be completed at the end of the week.

Notes to Supervisor

Your comments on the daily tasks will be welcomed by pupils as they will use this form in the debriefing after their placement and will also help them in the completion of application forms and CV’s.

If it is not possible to do this on a daily basis however, an overview of the tasks completed during the week would be acceptable (see the Completion of Tasks section on page 26)

This section provides you with forms for researching two different jobs.

You can do this by interviewing staff, observing staff or by some other form of research.

Doing this exercise will help you to research jobs in more detail (for example, using the PlanIT database) and in making decisions about your future career.
