Enthusiastic LearningWoodleigh oers a unique child centred approach whichrecognises the needs, interests, aspirations and achievement of

every pupil.

Pre Prep pupils experience a broad and balanced curriculumbased on the National Curriculum but providing opportunities toexpand and explore taking into account the childs interests.

In years 3-6 pupils are gradually introduced to subject basedclasses taught by specialists. English, Maths, Science, ICT,History, Geography, French, Art, CDT, PE, Music, PSHE andLatin comprise the curriculum.

During years 7&8 pupils are prepared for Common Entrance,Entrance exams and Scholarship exams for 13+ entry into seniorschools.

visits, barbeques, mountain biking, cricket nets, swimming andcinema trips are just some of the possibilities.

support for the development of literacy and numeracy skills ofchildren who would otherwise have diculty in accessing thecurriculum.

Care is taken to avoid withdrawal from key and favourite

subjects and emphasis is placed on the importance of happinessand self-esteem, with a belief that all children can realise theirpotential with support and a willingness to work hard.

The coordinator holds the Hornsby International DyslexiaCentre Diploma (merit) in the teaching of students with specic

learning diculties. Woodleigh is a member of CReSTeD.

Capturing the momentDrama builds condence and promotes teamwork. All pupils at allages are regularly involved in drama, either on stage or backstage.

Pupils from Nursery to Year 2 rehearse and perform a Christmasplay; pupils in years 3 to 5 rehearse and perform a musical in the

Autumn Term, a cabaret in the spring term and year 8 perform aplay on founders day in the summer term.

Recent performances include: Joseph and the AmazingTechnicolor Dreamcoat, Lile Shop of Horrors and The Blues

Brothers. A House Play Festival takes place in the Spring Term.In the recent past, plays have toured York, Hull and the EdinburghFringe Festival.

Everyone can take partWoodleigh is one of the only schools in the United Kingdom tooer time-tabled sport on every school day.

Every child will have the opportunity to represent the school in asports team during their time at Woodleigh.

Rugby, Netball, Football, Hockey, Cricket, Rounders,

Athletics, Tennis, Swimming, Cross Country, Badminton,and Triathlon are the main team games. Matches are arrangedalmost every Wednesday and Saturday for all age groups.

Discovering talentsEvery child has the opportunity to develop their musicaltalents at Woodleigh.

Weekly music lessons lead to performances in stage musicals,live cabarets, ensemble bands and singing events each term.

All children can experience a free taster instrumental lesson.The choice of instruments is almost unlimited and tuition isprovided by experienced professional musicians. Many pupilschoose to take part in bands, ranging from the school brass

band to contemporary pop groups.

Outdoor adventures

Adventure is part of your childs life at Woodleigh. Twice aterm, activity weekends oer residential packages including fundays out dry-skiing, paint-balling, canoeing, quasar, and ropescourses. There are also trips to cities, museums, imax cinemas,football stadium tours, seaside visits and much more.

Each summer years 5-8 go camping for a week. Activitiesinclude team building, rafting, caving, canoeing, climbing,abseiling, water-skiing, shing and survival skills.

During the holidays, activity weeks include archery, cycling,tennis, swimming, horse riding, cricket, football, art, music,crafts and o site excursions. Theres also an annual ski trip.

24 hour careYour childs welfare is paramount at Woodleigh, where

before and after school care is made easy. Care is included

from before 8 until late. Flexi-boarding is available to allpupils from Year 3 upwards.

Breakfast, before school care, break time snacks, hot healthylunches, mid afternoon snacks, hot healthy teas, fun eveningactivities and supervised homework are all included in the

fees. Short notice bookings for teas, evening activities andhomework are no problem.
