OPERATIONAL INFORMATION

WL 2000The WL2000 is available in three options:

a) Cold & Hot

b) Cold & Ambient

c) Cold Only

When reading this manual, note the differences between the options and focuson the particular sections that concern the unit installed.

DIRECT CHILL SYSTEM The direct chill system is manufactured from 304 Stainless Steel which is non-corrosive and inert. The cold water temperature is preset at the factory atapproximately 5 degrees C, this being ideal temperature for a cold drink. Thecapacity of the direct chill system is of 400 ml. The direct chill system, unlikeother reservoir systems, reduces the amount of water stored in the machine. The direct chill system is controlled by a thermostat that is set at the factory. The factory set point is marked at the back of the machine by asmall dot.

HOT TANK The hot water tank has a 1.5L capacity; it is manufactured from 304 stainless steel and is heated by an 800 wattheating element. Temperature of the Hot Tank is controlled by a thermostat and it is preset at the factory atapproximately 87 degrees C. this being the ideal temperature for instant drinks. A BI-metal overload thermostatis fitted to stop the tank over heating and is reset manually. Setting the hot water temperature at 87 degrees Calso helps stop scale forming in the Hot Tank. A special polyphosphate filter can be fitted at customer’s request.

AMBIENT WATER CIRCUITThis water circuit filters the water. No further cooling or heating is done to the water in this option. The temperatureof the water will be the same as the temperature of the water that comes out of the building water supply and theambient room temperature.

FILTERSThe WL 2000 is fitted with a GAC twist filter as standard. This filter arrangement will remove a whole range ofcontaminates e.g. chlorine, pesticides. There are many kinds of different filter combinations available from Waterlogicto suit local water conditions.

PCBThe PCB (Printed Circuit Board) is the control unit for the WL2000; it is responsible for the selection and dispensingof water. (24V dc). The PCB drives an LED which informs the user of the status of the unit. The PCB has a power onindicator and also indicates the user what option of water is currently selected by changing colour. Cold water willalways be as a default option, hot water must be selected and then dispensed.

COMPRESSOR The compressor operates at 220-240V and at 50Hz. It uses R134a non-Ozone depleting refrigerant gas. There is alsothe option to use Natural refrigeration gas. The compressor is controlled by an electromechanical thermostat thatcontrols the temperature of the water in the direct chill unit.

WATER PIPE AND FITTINGS All water connection fittings are made by the John Guest Company and are approved to NSF standard 41. The machineis connected the water supply by a 1/4” female bulkhead fitting.

The entire internal water circuit and all the components which come in contact with water are food grade NSF /WRAS approved.

WATER VALVES Dispensing of water to the customer is achieved by means of a 24V DC electrical solenoid valve. The valves areenergized every time a customer pushes the dispense button for a drink. DC voltage is used to give a positive andquieter action of the solenoid valve.

PLASTIC PANELSThe moulded panels are made from ABS plastic. All the ABS plastic panels are UV resistant and incorporate the heatretardant standards of CE and UL.. Please note that the machine should not be exposed to direct sunlight as it is amachine designed for interior use only. Placing machines in direct sunlight from a window, or close to a radiator, or onin a room of high ambient temperature will effect the efficiency of the refrigeration circuit.

PRE DELIVERY INSPECTION PROCEDURES (PDI)1. Unpack and carry out a visual inspection of the unit for any transit damage.

2. Remove the top cover and the lower front panel and visually inspect the internals of the machine for any wiresor pipes that may have come loose in transit.

3. Connect the water supply.

4. Ensure the switch on the rear of the machine is in the off position and connect the unit to a power supply.

5. The unit is now live and suitable safety precautions should be taken.

6. Flush water through the hot tank first until the water runs clear of any carbon fines. Approximately 15 litres (formachines with hot water options only).

7. Now flush water through the Direct Chill cooling coil. Approximately 5 litres.

8. Once you are sure that water is running through both the cooling and heating circuit then turn on the heat andcompressor switch at the rear of the machine.

9. Carry out a visual inspection for any water leaks.

10. The hot water will heat to approx 87 deg C.

11. To test the direct Chill water wait until the compressor has shut off. Extract a further 1 litre of water and allowthe compressor to recover again. Test the 2nd cup of water taken. It should be between 3 and 7 deg C.

12. Inspect the cold water produced for clarity and taste. If required flush more water to remove any adverse tasteor carbon fines.

13. Return the switch to the off position and isolate the power and water to the machine.

14. Drain the hot tank and direct chill coil.

15. Replace all panels, clean the machine and repack the machine.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURESImportant notice: This procedure should only be carried out by an engineer or staff trained by WaterlogicInternational or an approved distributing agent.

1. Site the machine as close to the electrical and mains drinking water supply as possible with a 50mm air gap at bothsides and back of the machine. Mount the machine on a firm flat surface so that it cannot topple over. Pleaseremember that the machine should not be exposed to direct sunlight or heat sources above 32 degrees C.

2. It is advisable that the water supply and electrical supply be within 2 meters of the machine for ease of installation.

3. Level the machine using the adjustable feet.

4. Remove the top cover of the machine. If you are installing a freestanding machine also remove the lower front cover. This is retained by two screws located under the front edge at the bottom of the cover and two clips in the samelocation. Remove the screws and push clips up to release.

5. Make the water connection using an installation kit. Waterlogic recommends the use of a pressure reducing valve anda non return valve. These should be fitted before the water intake to the machine. Minimum operating pressure for themachine to work suitably is 1.5 bar, while the maximum operating pressure is of 3 bar.

6. Please flush the water supply pipe until it runs clear, before making the water connection to rear of the machine.

7. The power lead is located in a recess on the top packing cover of the machine regardless of whether it is a mini or afree standing model. Inspect the electrical socket. Inspect machine plug and cable for any transit damage. Now plugthe power lead into the back of the machine. As soon as you plug the machine into a suitable power supply voltagewill be available to the PCB and solenoid valves and you can now start to flush water through the machine. Do not atthis point turn on the red heater and compressor switch at the rear. This switch should only be turned on once the hottank is filled with water.

8. Both the hot and cold temperatures are factory set at 87 degrees C for hot and 5 degrees C for cold. It is not possibleto adjust the hot temperature, but the cold temperature can be adjusted by regulating the thermostat situated at theback of the machine. This thermostat is set at a specific point at the factory. This point is marked out by a small dotsituated on the outside of the thermostat. It is advised that you do not adjust the cold thermostat past the factoryset point of 5 degrees C as this may result in the direct chill system freezing.

9. If installing a hot and cold model, do the following. Alternatively go to point 10.

Select the hot water option and press the dispense button to start flushing water through the machine filter and hottank. The filter will produce carbon fines at first and the water may have a black appearance. Continue to flush for 5minutes or 10 litres of water until it runs clear.

10. Select the cold water option and press the dispense button and flush for 5 minutes or 10 litres of water through thedirect chill system. If you are installing a cold only machine then flush for 10 minutes. This will generate the filter andclean any residual water from the machine.

11. Check the machine for any water leaks and ensure that the fittings are secured properly.

12. Once you are satisfied that water is passing through both the hot and cold tank successfully then turn on theheater/compressor switch at the back of the machine.

13. The hot water will heat to 87 degrees C.

14. The direct chill system will start cooling immediately. It is suggested that once the compressor is working, theinstallation engineer should wait for the compressor to stop working. Once this happens he should extract one litre ofwater from the machine. At this point the compressor will restart. Once the compressor stops again, the water shouldbe cold and ready to drink. This will take approximately 20 minutes depending on the temperature of the supply water.

15. If you wish to test the water temperature then please ensure that you use an accurate previously calibratedthermometer.

16. Please ensure that the cold water produced has a good taste. If you detect a plastic taste then it is an indication thatthe machine needs to be flushed again.

17.Check the machine to make sure it is electrically safe.

TROUBLESHOOTINGThe following is a list of different problems that may be found while installing and operating the WL 2000.

NO FLOW OF WATER: In this case, make sure that there is a water supply to the machine and is turned on. Pleaseensure that the Waterblock is reset if fitted. Ensure that the filter is twisted in all the way home into the head, otherwise the valve inside the filter head will not be opened. Check to see that the filter is not blocked with sediment.

THERE IS FLOW FOR THE HOT WATER, BUT NO FLOW FOR THE COLD WATER: This may be a result of the waterinside the direct chill mechanism being frozen. Ensure that the thermostat is set at the factory setting. Disconnectthe power mains from the back of the machine and allow the ice inside the direct chill coil to melt.

WATER DISPENSED BY THE MACHINE IS NEITHER HOT NOR COLD: Make sure that the heater/compressor switchat the back of the machine is on. This switch powers the heating coil and the compressor. If it isn’t on, there will beno heating or chilling in the machine

THE POWER INDICATOR IS NOT ON: Make sure that the machine is plugged in correctly and that the switch is on.If the machine is properly set up, then remove the top cover of the machine and check the fuse on the back of themachine.

BAD TASTE: Flush the machine for a period of 15 minutes. If the bad taste persists contact your authorised serviceprovider.

LOW FLOW OF COLD WATER: If this happens in the cold water circuit, there may be a problem with freezing. Pleaserefer to point number 2 and follow the instructions

LOW FLOW OF WATER FOR ALL CIRCUITS OF THE MACHINE: Ensure that the filter is not blocked. The filter mayrequire changing.

LOW FLOW OF HOT WATER. Indicates that the hot tank needs to be de-scaled.

BioCote®(ANTI-MICROBIAL SOLUTION)For your added protection this Waterlogic product has been treated with BioCote®.

BioCote is a silver based anti-microbial agent which releases silver ions from any material that has been coated orimpregnated with it. Silver is a natural anti-microbial, which has been used for many centuries for its abilities to aidin preservation, especially in water systems.

The silver ions are added to materials at the manufacturing stage. The silver ions cause functions in bacteria to breakdown. This results in the bacteria being unable to reproduce and therefore inhibiting bacterial growth.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT BioCote®:WHY USE BioCote®? BioCote® will help reduce the risk of cross-contamination. You may not want to think aboutit, but every surface in the working environment is a potential breeding ground for Bacteria.

HOW IS IT APPLIED? BioCote® is applied via an additive into the manufacturing process and will therefore be presentthroughout the moulded or painted parts.

HOW LONG WILL BioCote® LAST? BioCote® will last for the usual life expectancy of you water dispenser. It will notwear or wash out with use or cleaning.

WHAT BACTERIA’S IS BioCote® EFFECTIVE AGAINST? BioCote is effective against most common bacteria’s, mouldsand fungi.

PLEASE NOTE: BioCote® is a second line of defence, it is not a replacement for your normal cleaning andsanitisation processes. For further information on BioCote®, please contact WLI (UK) Technical Department.
