School of Mechanical, Industrial, & Manufacturing Engineering
We will use a Discussion Circle format to help each other learn about different areas of engineering
Each week:
First 10 minutes of recitation will be your discussion circle
Rotate through “roles”
Prepare by reading and filling out worksheet for your role
Hand in worksheet for 50% of recitation participation grade

From: [email protected] Sent: Thursday, October 2, 2008 3:31 PMTo: [email protected]: Request for meeting re. upcoming absence from ENGR 111
Dear Professor Lyons,
I will be leaving town on Wednesday, October 21, to attend my brother’s wedding the following weekend. Unfortunately that means I will miss our Thursday (Oct. 22) class that week. I apologize in advance for my absence.
May I come by your office during your Oct. 12 or 14 office hours to discuss what I’ll be missing on 10/22 and get the homework for that class ahead of time? If so, please let me know which of those days is most convenient.
Again, I apologize for my upcoming absence on 10/23. Thank you for helping me keep up with the course material and assignments.
Sincerely,
Chris [email protected]
