■ IntroductionThe WJ-HDB502 Network Board is an option for installation into the WJ-HD500 Digital Disk Recorder. The board enables thedisk recorder to be accessed from a personal computer through a 10/100Base-T Ethernet. Browsing live and recordedimages, and the relevant operations are available via remote input on the computer thanks to the adapted Internet protocols.

■ Computer RequirementsThe personal computer must have the following minimum requirements to set up the board.

OS:One of the following Operating Systems: Windows95/ Windows98/ WindowsNT

Browser:Netscape Communicator 4.04 or laterInternet Explorer 4.01 SP or later

■ Network Setup of the WJ-HD500After the WJ-HDB502 Network Board is installed in the WJ-HD500 Digital Disk Recorder, confirm that the communica-tion parameters are set correctly in the WJ-HD500 SETUPmenu of the Disk Recorder.

Open the COMMUNICATION SETUP menu in the WJ-HD500 SETUP menu, then set the IP Address, Netmaskand Gateway specified.Refer to the Operating Instructions included in the WJ-HD500 for further details.

Note: When the Disk Recorder with the Network board isconnected alone to a PC as Basic Connection, thesesettings are not required and use the factory defaultsetting.

■ PC SetupThe following procedures are only required setup when theWJ-HD500 with the Network Board is connected alone to aPC as Basic Connection.

The factory default settings of the WJ-HDB502 are as fol-lows:

IP address: 192.168.0.10Netmask: 255.255.255.0Gateway: 192.168.0.1

For a client PC to access WJ-HDB502 factory default set-tings, set the IP address of the PC to 192.168.0.✽✽ (✽✽means any number from 2 to 254 except 10).

q Power up the client PC.

w Change the PC’s TCP/IP to match the factory defaultsettings of the WJ-HD500.

If your PC's OS is Windows95 or Windows98, proceedas follows:

(1) Click the [Start] button, point to settings, and thenclick Control Panel.

(2) Double-click Network.

(3) In the Network dialog box, click the Configurationtab.

(4) Choose TCP/IP, and then click the [Properties]button to display the TCP/IP Properties dialog box.

(5) Specify an IP Address and Subnet Mask as follows:

IP Address: 192.168.0.9Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

e Restart the PC to execute the setting.

r Start the WWW browser, and select [Do not use proxyfor address 192.168.0.10].

If your browser is Netscape Communicator, proceed asfollows:

(1) Click the Edit menu, and then click Preferences.

(2) In the Preferences dialog box, click Advanced,and then click Proxies.

(3) Select the Manual proxy configuration option, andthen click the [View] button to display the ManualProxy Configuration dialog box.

(4) In the space [Do not use proxy servers fordomains beginning with:], specify 192.168.0.10.

■ Main Page and Control WindowStart the WWW browser of your PC, in the URL (UniformResource Locators), type http://192.168.0.10 (or IPAddress set for WJ-HD500) /.The browser displays the MAIN CONTROL PANEL of theWJ-HDB502’s homepage shown in the figure.

Note: Specify “http//:192.168.0.10/”, when a client PC isconnected alone.Specify “http//: (IP address previously set for the WJ-HD500)/” such as LAN connection.

The described below are setup the WJ-HDB502 NetworkBoard.

1. On the MAIN CONTROL PANEL, click the [HDB502MENU] button. The dialog box as shown in the figurewill appear on the display screen.

2. Enter your user name and password in the dialog box.The default user name and password are “admin” and“nil (not required)”, respectively.The NETWORK SETUP window shown in the figure willappear on the display screen.

Note: When the access is made from the PC that is pre-viously registered host with the host authorization,the NETWORK SETUP window will automaticallyappear on the display.

3. On the NETWORK SETUP window, clicking the dis-plays shown below will display the following setup win-dow on the display.

VIDEO MODE: Specifies the image quality andsequence for live video.

ALARM: Specifies the mail address for alarm noticesfunction.

USER: Specifies users and access levels.HOST: Specifies hosts and access levels.PS.Data: Specifies communication parameters for

using PS.Data mode.

4. To return to the previous MAIN CONTROL PANEL,click the [MAIN MENU] button on the window.

■ Network Setup

The items in the window let you set the communicationparameters of the WJ-HDB502 Network Board.Changing the parameters will renew the “NETWORKSETUP” (IP Address, Netmask and Gateway) in the COM-MUNICATION SETUP menu of the WJ-HD500 SETUPmenu.

Note: The network setup of the board is automatically setup from the WJ-HD500 Disk recorder when the board isinstalled in the Disk Recorder.Therefore, if no setup changes are needed in the win-dow, the described setup procedures are not required.

1. Enter the IP Address to be used.The factory default setting is 192.168.0.10.

2. Enter the netmask to be used.The factory default setting is 255.255.255.0.

3. Enter the default gateway to be used.The factory default setting is 192.168.0.1.

4. Enter the host name.Up to 8 alphanumeric characters can be set for thename.The factory default setting is HDB502.

5. Select the communication speed by clicking the pull-down list.AUTO, 100Mbps(FULL DUPLEX), 100Mbps(HALFDUPLEX) and 10Mbps can be selected from the list.The factory default setting is AUTO.

6. Click the [SET&REBOOT] button to execute the set-tings and renews the settings of the WJ-HD500 DiskRecorder.

■ Video Mode SetupClicking the [VIDEO MODE] button in the window, theVIDEO MODE SETUP window shown in the figure appearson the display screen.The items in the window let you set the image quality anddisplay mode for live video on the display.

● Video Mode SetupThe items let you set the image quality displayed on theComputer Display.

1. Select an update speed for images on the display byclicking the pulldown list.The factory default setting is Middle.

2. Select a pixel number (resolution) for images on the dis-play by clicking the pulldown list.

FRAME: High resolution (720 x 480) imageFIELD: Normal resolution (720 x 240) image1/4FRAME: Lower resolution (360 x 240) image

The factory default setting is FIELD.

3. Select an image quality for the images on the displayby clicking the pulldown list.

The factory default setting is SUPER FINE.

4. Select a bandwidth (transmission speed) from theboard to the network by clicking from the pulldown list.

The factory default setting is UNLIMITED.

5. Click the [SET&REBOOT] button to execute the set-tings.

● Sequence Mode SetupA series of live images can be displayed in succession onthe display for the specified duration.The items let you set the display mode on the ComputerDisplay.

1. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable thesequence mode by clicking the button.The factory default setting is OFF.

2. Enter the dwell time to be specified in the box.Dwell Time can be set to a value between 1 and 30seconds in increments of 1 second.

The factory default setting is 1 SEC.

3. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable displayfor the inputs on the display screen in sequence byclicking the buttons in the table.The factory default settings are OFF.

4. Click the [SET&REBOOT] button to execute the set-tings.

■ Alarm Notice SetupClicking the [ALARM] button in the window, the ALARMSETUP window shown in the figure will appear on the dis-play screen.The Disk Recorder is equipped the alarm notice functionthat is automatically transmitted the notice to the specifiedmail address in the network when the alarm is activated.The items in the window let you set the alarm notice func-tion.

● Alarm Notice Setup1. Select either USE or NOT USE to enable or disable the

alarm notice function by clicking the button.

2. Specify the address of the mail server in the networkthat the Disk Recorder is connected.

3. Enter the name of a sender in the box.Up to 8 alphanumeric characters can be set for thenameThe alarm notice (e-mail) is sent in the name specifiedhere.

4. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable an attach-ment (attached file) of the e-mail by clicking the button.The alarmed images can be attached in the attachmentof the e-mail when the mode is set to ON.

5. Click the [SET] button to execute the selections.

● Registration and DeletionUp to 4 mail addresses can be registered for the alarmnotice.To register or delete a mail address, follow the procedureshown below.

1. Specify the mail addresses (destination) to notify theactivated alarm.q Enter a mail address to notify the alarm.w Click the [SET] button to register the entered

address.e To register other destination, repeat the procedure

q and w.

2. To delete the destination from the list.q Select a mail address by clicking the pulldown list.w Click the [DELETE] button to execute the deletion

from the list.

■ User SetupClicking the [USER] button in the window, the USER SETUPwindow shown in the figure will appear on the displayscreen.The items in the window let you determine to enable or dis-able user authorization and register or delete users that canbe accessed to the homepage.Up to eight users can be registered in the system.

● User Authorization

1. Select either USE or NOT USE to enable or disable userauthorization.The factory default setting is NOT USE.

2. Click the [SET] button to execute the selection.

● User RegistrationTo register users, follow the procedure shown below.

1. Specify the users.q Enter a user name in the boxw Enter a password for the user.e Select an access level for the user by clicking the

button.The access level is defined as shown below.Refer to Access Authorization for further details.

1(ADMIN): Enables all controls and setup2(PLAY): Enables monitoring live images and

playing back the recorded images.3(USER): Enables only monitoring live images.

2. Click the [SET] button to register the user.

3. Repeat the above steps 1 and 2 to register the otherusers.

● User DeletionTo delete a registered user, follow the procedure shownbelow.

1. Select a user name by clicking the pulldown list.

2. Click the [DELETE] button to execute the deletion.

■ Host SetupClicking the [HOST] button in the window, the HOSTSETUP window shown in the figure appears on the displayscreen.The items in the window let you determine to enable or dis-able host authorization and register or delete hosts (PCs)that can be accessed to the homepage.Up to eight hosts can be registered in the system.

● Host AuthorizationNote: If the access levels is exclusively set to user autho-

rization, select “NOT USE” to disable host authorizationby clicking the button then proceed to set the UserSetup.

1. Select either USE or NOT USE to enable or disable hostauthorization.The factory default setting is NOT USE.

2 Click the [SET] button to execute the selection.

● Host RegistrationTo register hosts, follow the procedure shown below.

1. Specify the host (PC).q Enter a IP address of the host (PC) in the boxw Select an access level for the host by clicking the

button.The access level is defined as shown below.Refer to Access Authorization for further details.

1(ADMIN): Enables all controls and setup2(PLAY): Enables monitoring live images and

playing back the recorded images.3(USER): Enables only monitoring live images.

2. Click the [SET] button to register the host.

3. Repeat the above steps 1 and 2 to register the otherhosts.

● Host DeletionTo delete a registered host, follow the procedure shownbelow.

1. Select a host address by clicking the pulldown list.

2. Click the [DELETE] button to execute the deletion.

■ PS.Data SetupClicking the [PS.Data] button in the window, the PS.DataSETUP window shown in the figure will appear on the dis-play screen.The items in the window let you set the parameters for com-munication when the system is controlled with the PS.Data(Panasonic Security Data) mode.

1. Enter a unit address (001 - 099) of the board for RS-485communication in the box.The factory default setting is 001.

2. Enter a group address (00A - 00Z) of the board for RS-485 communication in the boxThe factory default setting is 00A.

3. Select a transmission speed for RS-485 communicationby clicking the pulldown list.

The factory default setting is 9 600 bps.

4. Select either 1 or 2 for the number of stop bits for RS-485 communication by clicking the button.The factory default setting is 1 bit.

5. Select NONE, EVEN or ODD for parity bit for RS-485communication by clicking the button.The factory default setting is NONE.

6. Select one of the waiting time in milli-seconds (ms) toretry for RS-485 communication by clicking the pull-down list.

The factory default setting is OFF (no retry).

7. Click the [SET] button to execute the selections.

8. To return to the previous NETWORK window, click theNETWORK display in the underneath of the window.

When the WJ-HDB502 Network Board is installed in the WJ-HD500 Disk Recorder, it is enabled setup the WJ-HD500SETUP menu from the PC in the networkOn the MAIN CONTROL PANEL window, clicking the[HDB500 MENU] button will display the user ID and pass-word dialog box.Enter your user ID and password in the dialog box.The WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window shown in the figurewill appear on the display.

Note: When the access is made from the PC that is previ-ously registered host with the host authorization, theWJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window will automaticallyappear on the display.If the registration is not completed yet, enter the defaultuser name and password as shown below.

User Name: adminPassword: nil (not required)

■ Programming Setup WindowAs shown in the figure, the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU win-dow has eight main submenus. Seven of these are furtherdivided into additional submenus.The display underlined indicates that the item has a sub-menu for more detailed setups.

■ Timer SettingThe timer recording mode is triggered by the internal or anexternal timer.This item lets you enable or disable the timer for recording.Select a parameter to be activated by clicking the pulldownlist.

INT: Selects the internal timer for recording as sched-uled in the programmed menu.

EXT: Selects the external timer for recording whendetecting power on and off.

OFF: Timer recording is disabled.To record manually, set to this mode.

The factory default setting is OFF.

Note: When the parameter is set to something otherthan OFF, the Disk Recorder does not start record-ing even if the REC button is pressed.

Common Recording Setup

On the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window, click the COM-MON SETUP display in the window.The COMMON SETUP window shown in the figure willappear on the display screen.

These items let you determine the common recording set-tings, camera assignment for the groups and playback set-tings.To return to the previous WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window,click the [HD500 MENU] button.

■ Recording Image Quality SetupThese items let you determine the image quality recordedon the Hard Disk.

1. Select one of the modes by clicking the FIELD/FRAMEpulldown list.The item lets you select the pixel numbers (number ofhorizontal x vertical image elements) or resolution of thevideo image.

FRAME 3DIM ON: High resolution (720 x 480) distor-tion-free image

FRAME 3DIM OFF: High resolution (720 x 480) image.FIELD: Normal resolution (720 x 240) image

The factory default setting is FIELD.

2. Select one of the modes by clicking the COLOR MODEpulldown list.The item lets you enable or disable recording in color orblack and white.

COLOR FINE: Images are recorded with enhanced col-ors.

COLOR STD: Images are recorded with normal colors.B/W: Images are recorded in black-and-white.

The factory default setting is COLOR STD.

■ Other Recording Settings1. Select either ON or OFF by clicking the button.

The item lets you enable or disable recording of thecamera and group titles with the image on the HardDisk.

ON: Enables recording of the titles on the Hard Disk.OFF: Disables recording of the titles on the Hard Disk.

The factory default setting is OFF.

2. Select either ON or OFF by clicking the button.The item lets you enable or disable recording of theclock (date and time) with the image on the Hard Disk.

ON: Enables recording of the clock on the Hard Disk.OFF: Disables recording of the clock on the Hard Disk.

The factory default setting is OFF.

3. Select either 8 or 16 by clicking the button.The item lets you select the maximum number ofthumbnail images displayed in the search window.

8: Displays a maximum of 8 thumbnail images.16: Displays a maximum of 16 thumbnail images.

The factory default setting is 8.

4. Select one of the modes to be played back by clickingthe pulldown list.The item lets you select the playback mode accordingto the recorded number when the [PLAYBACK] buttonis pressed.

ALL: All the records are played back with automat-ic switching.

LOOP: Repeats playing back the selected numberof the recording.

ONE: Switches to standby mode for the next opera-tion, after the selected recording number hasbeen played back once.

The factory default setting is ALL.

5. Select one of the modes by clicking the pulldown list.The item lets you enable or disable uninterruptedrecording when the hard disk space is used up.

STOP: Stops recording when the disk is full.CONTINUE: Continues recording by overwriting the

oldest data when the disk is full.ALM CONTINUE: Continues only recording the data

while an alarm is activated by overwriting the oldestdata, when the disk is full.

The factory default setting is STOP.

6. Click the [SET] button in the window to execute theselections.

■ Group Setup(Camera Assignment)

The Disk Recorder activates the recording function of theassigned cameras in four groups when the TIMER is set toINT (internal).These items let you determine the camera’s group forrecording.Click the GROUP SETUP (CAMERA ASSIGNMENT) dis-play on the COMMON SETUP window.The GROUP SETUP (CAMERA ASSIGNMENT) window asshown in the figure will appear on the display screen.

1. Select a group number (1 to 4) to be assigned for acamera by clicking the pulldown list in the GROUP col-umn.The factory default settings is 1.

2. Repeat the above step to assign the group number forother cameras.

3. When all camera assignments are completed, click the[SET] button to execute the selections.

4. To return to the previous COMMON SETUP window,click the HD500 SETUP MENU display in the window.

■ Group Setup (Title)This item lets you edit the group title to be displayed on themonitor screen.Each title is composed of 8 alphanumeric characters.Click the GROUP SETUP (TITLE) display on the COMMONSETUP window.The GROUP SETUP (TITLE) window as shown in the figurewill appear on the display screen.

Manual Recording SetupThe Disk Recorder can be recorded the images in TimeLapse recording when the REC button is pressed manually.Manual Recording is disabled when the TIMER in the setupwindow is set to something other than OFF.These settings are also valid for External Timer Recordingwhen the TIMER in the setup menu is set to EXT.These items let you determine the image quality and activemode for manual recording.

1. Select either parameter by clicking the MANUAL pull-down list in the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window.

W/OUT AUDIO: Enables Manual Recording withoutaudio.

WITH AUDIO: Enables Manual Recording with audio.

The factory default setting is W/OUT AUDIO.

2. Clicking the MANUAL display will call up the MANUALREC SETUP window according to the specified audiofunction, as shown in the figure.

Timer Recording SetupThe Disk Recorder can record the images triggered by theinternal timer. The internal timer comprises four event timescommon to the recording groups, and is programmed inthe setup.

1. Select either parameter by clicking the TIMER pulldownlist in the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU window.

W/OUT AUDIO: Enables Timer Recording withoutaudio.

WITH AUDIO: Enables Timer Recording with audio.

1. Select a program timer (PROG1 to PROG4) to beassigned for a day by clicking the PROGRAM pulldownlist.It is recommended to assign a program to a weekday, aweekend or on a daily basis.Selecting the (—) will disable the program timer.

● External Program Timer The internal timer can be changed to the specified timerpreviously programmed by the input from the external. Thisfunction is enabled, when a contact is connected with pin22 of the ALARM port on the Disk Recorder.This item lets you enable or disable the external timer forrecording.

1. Select a program timer (PROG1 to PROG4) to bechanged for the EXT REC MODE parameter in theTIMER REC SETUP window by clicking the pulldownlist.

PROG1 - 4: Selects a timer assigned program number.—: Disables the external program timer.

The factory default setting is PROG1.

2. Click the [More] button to display the assigned pro-gram number window previously programmed.If the program number window has not been editedpreviously, edit the assigned program number windowas described follows.

3. Click the [SET] button to execute the selections.

■ Program TimerThe described below let you determine the program timerschedule and recording mode.Click the [More] button of the assigned program number(PROG1) in the TIMER REC SETUP window, the assignedprogram number window as shown in the figure will appearon the display screen.

1. Select the time to start and end the recording for a timer(NO. 1) by pressing the keyboard.

Notes:• If the timer (NO. 1) to end recording is set to 24:00,

the editing function for the timers (NO. 2 to No. 4) isdisabled.

• If the timer (NO. 1) to end the recording is set to12:00, the timer (NO. 2) to start a recording can notbe set to a time before 12:00.

2. Select the recording mode for groups by clicking thepulldown list.

■ Special Day TimerClick the TIMER SPECIAL DAY display in the underneath ofthe TIMER REC SETUP window will display the TIMER SPE-CIAL DAY SETUP window as shown in the figure.This window allows for up to 30 days to be defined as spe-cial days.In this table, 30 specific user defined days are assigned toone day of the week.Before programming this table, confirm that the ProgramTimer is programmed completely.

1. Enter a month and then date in the box by pressing thekeyboard.

Note: The programmed month and date will be valid forevery year.

2. Select the day of the week to be activated the pro-grammed timer by clicking the pulldown list.

3. Repeat the above steps to program the other specialdays.

4. If the another table to program the special days, clickthe NEXT 10 display. The new programming table willappear on the display screen.

■ Secret View SettingWhen the video input is displayed in the spot mode on theSpot Monitor, the Multiscreen Monitor is enabled to skip thestep in sequence or display a blackout in multiscreen forthat selected input image.This function is called Secret View and the item lets youenable or disable this function on the Multiscreen Monitor.

1. Select either OFF or ON for SECRET VIEW by clickingthe button.

■ Sequence Setup (MultiscreenMonitor)

The described below let you program the sequence patternfor the Multiscreen Monitor.

1. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the quadshift operation by clicking the button.The item lets you enable or disable the quad shift oper-ation when the [MULTISCREEN SELECT] button onthe Disk Recorder is pressed.Quad shift displays an image series such as 4A, 4B, 4Cand 4D previously programmed on four screen seg-ments.

ON: Enables the quad shift operation.OFF: Disables the quad shift operation.

The initial factory setting is OFF.

2. Select either INT or EXT to advance the sequence byclicking the button.The item lets you select between internal and externalcontrol for advancing the sequence on the MultiscreenMonitor.

INT: Advances a sequence by the Dwell Time that wasprogrammed in the MULTI LIVE SEQ SETUP win-dow.

EXT: Advances a sequence by the input from pin 5 ofthe ALARM port on the rear of the Disk Recorder.

The factory default setting is INT.

3. Select either QUAD or MULTI GROUP display mode tobe run on the monitor by clicking the button.The cameras are assigned to 4 groups for recordingwith a programmed internal timer.The item lets you select the sequence pattern to be dis-played of each group on the Multiscreen Monitor.

MULTI GROUP: Camera images are displayed insequence with the minimum quantities of the seg-ment screen.

QUAD: Camera images are displayed with a 4-segmentscreen in sequence.

The factory default setting is QUAD.

4. Select a dwell time for the group sequence by pressingthe keyboard.

1 - 30: Selects the dwell time between 1 second and 30seconds.

The factory default setting is 2 SEC.

5. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the autoskip function by clicking the button.The item lets you enable or disable the auto skip func-tion on the Multiscreen Monitor to skip any steps whenno video signal is present.

ON: Enables the auto skip function on the MultiscreenMonitor.

OFF: Disables the auto skip function on the MultiscreenMonitor.

There are three sequence patterns to run on theMultiscreen Monitor.The items shown below let you program the sequence torun on the Multiscreen Monitor.Multi Live Sequence is a series of 16 steps assigned to theMultiscreen Monitor.The sequence steps can be combined with four screensegments (quad) display.

1. Click the MULTI LIVE SEQ SETUP in the underneath ofthe SEQUENCE SETUP window.The window shown in the figure will appear on the dis-play.

2. Select a camera to be displayed in the CAM column forstep 1 by pressing the keyboard.

■ Quad Pattern SetupThis item lets you select the pattern to be displayed on theMultiscreen Monitor when a 4-segment (Quad) display isselected in spot or sequence.The camera images can be assigned to the segments asshown in the figure.

1. Click the MULTI QUAD PATTERN SETUP in theSEQUENCE SETUP window.The window as shown in the figure will appear on thedisplay screen.

2. Select a camera number to be assigned for 4A-1 byclicking the pulldown list.

1 - 16: Displays the image of the selected camera num-ber.

4A-1 to 4D-4 indicates the display pattern, including thecamera assignment and display positions followed.

3. Repeat the above step to assign a camera for others.

■ Spot Live Sequence Setting(Spot Monitor)

This item lets you program the live sequence pattern to berun on the Spot Monitor.Live sequence is a series of 16 steps assigned to the SpotMonitor. This sequence can be run on the MultiscreenMonitor by operating the buttons.

1. Click the SPOT LIVE SEQ SETUP in the underneath ofthe SEQUENCE SETUP window.The window shown in the figure will appear on the dis-play screen.

2. Select a camera to be displayed in the CAM column forstep 1 by pressing the keyboard.

The item lets you select the output duration of the alarmsignal from the ALARM port on the rear of the DiskRecorder.

OFF: Disables alarm output, regardless of an incomingalarm.

1-30(SEC), 40(SEC), 50(SEC), 1(MIN) –5(MIN): Selectsan alarm output between 1 second and 5 minutes.

EXT: Alarm output continues until the ALARM RESETbutton is pressed or the external alarm recover sig-nal is received from the ALARM port on the rear ofthe Disk Recorder.

4. If the 1-30(SEC) is selected for the parameter, select avalue by pressing the keyboard.The factory default setting is 2 SEC.

5. Select the ringing duration by clicking the pulldown list.The item lets you select the ringing duration of the built-in alarm buzzer in the Disk Recorder when an alarm isactivated.

OFF: Disables alarm buzzer, regardless of an incomingalarm.

1-30(SEC), 40(SEC), 50(SEC), 1(MIN) –5(MIN): Selectsan alarm duration between 1 second and 5 minutes.

EXT: Alarm buzzer continues to beep until the ALARMRESET button is pressed or the external alarmrecover signal is received from the ALARM port.

6. If the 1-30(SEC) is selected for the parameter, select avalue by pressing the keyboard.The factory default setting is 2 SEC.

7. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the videoloss alarm function by clicking the button.The item lets you enable or disable the video loss alarmfunction when the Disk Recorder detects the interrup-tion of the video signal.

ON: Enables the video loss function.OFF: Disables the video loss function.

The factory default setting is ON.

8. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the motiondetector function by clicking the button.The function is available when the Motion DetectorBoard (Optional) is installed.The item lets you enable or disable the motion detectorfunction when the Disk Recorder detects a motion onthe video image.

ON: Enables the motion detector function.OFF: Disables the motion detector function.

The factory default setting is SPOT.

10. Select either SPOT or OFF by clicking the button.

The item lets you select the mode for displaying analarm on the Spot Monitor.

■ Alarm Port SettingThis item lets you designate the alarm input from theALARM port located on the rear of the Disk Recorder.

1. Click the ALARM TERMINAL SETUP in the underneathof the ALARM SETUP window.The table as shown in the figure will appear on the dis-play screen.

2. Select an alarm input channel (1CH - 16CH) in theALARM editing area by clicking the pulldown list.

3. Select a camera number (CAM1 - CAM16) correspond-ing to the input in the CAMERA editing area by clickingthe pulldown list.

4. Select the type of contact to meet the system require-ment in the INPUT editing area by clicking the pulldownlist.

Normally Open: Accepts alarm input from NormallyOpen contacts.

Normally Close: Accepts alarm input from NormallyClosed contacts.

The factory default setting is Normally Open.

5. Click the [SET] button to execute the selections and thecorresponding alarm channel will be replaced in thetable.

6. Repeat the above steps 2 to 5 to designate the otherinput channels.

7. When satisfied with all of the above steps, click theALARM SETUP display to return to the previous ALARMSETUP window.

■ Video Motion Detector SettingThe following settings are available when the MotionDetector Board (Optional) is installed.This item lets you determine the mode of the motion detec-tor function when the Disk Recorder detects a motion onthe video image.

Notes:• Make sure that the VIDEO MOTION DETECTION is set

to ON in the ALARM SETUP window previously.• When the detecting area is set small, the function may

not detect object.It is recommended that the areas and sensitivity levelsare made test before the settings.

1. Click the VMD AREA SETUP in the underneath of theALARM SETUP window.The VMD AREA SETUP window as shown in the figurewill appear on the display screen.

2. Select a sensitivity mode for a camera (1CH) by click-ing the pulldown list.

3. Repeat the above step to designate the other camerachannels.

4. When satisfied with all of the above steps, click the[SET] button to execute the selections.

5. If the parameter is set to something other than OFF instep 2, select the corresponding channel in the VMDAREA SETUP PAGE by clicking the button.The alarm detecting area setup window as shown in thefigure will appear on the display screen.

6. Drag the mouse pointer on the screen from the startingpoint to the ending point to determine the rectangulardetecting area.Up to four detecting areas can be set on the screen.

7. To assign an other detecting area, repeat the abovestep 6.

8. To delete the area, click the rectangle to be delete onthe screen, then click the [DELETE] button.

9. Click the [SET] button to execute the selections.

10. To return to the previous window, click the [RETURNVMD AREA SETUP] button.

11. Repeat the above steps 5 to 10 to set the detector func-tion for other cameras.

12. Click the ALARM SETUP in the underneath of the VMDAREA SETUP window to return to the previous ALARMSETUP menu.

PS.Data SetupThese items let you set the parameters for communicationbetween the System Controllers and the Disk Recorderswhen the system is controlled with the PS.Data mode(Panasonic Security Data).

1. Click the PS.Data SETUP in the WJ-HD500 SETUPMENU window.The PS.Data SETUP window as shown in the figure willappear on the display.

6. Select a mode of the alarm notification by clicking thepulldown list.The item lets you enable or disable notification of thealarm data received to the controller (Unit Number 1).

OFF: Select this parameter if the system controller isnot connected to the system.

0(SEC): Each time an alarm is received, it is transmittedto the system controller.

1(SEC): The received alarm is stored for 1 second, andthat data is sent to the system controller.

5(SEC): The received alarm is stored for 5 seconds,and that data is sent to the system controller.

The factory default setting is 1(SEC).

MASTER: Enables the time adjustment output from theCONTROL port to set time for connected externaldevice.

SLAVE: Enables to set the time of this recorder by theinput from the CONTROL port.

The factory default setting is OFF.

2. If the parameter is set to something other than OFF,select an hour (military time) to execute the time adjust-ment by entering numeric input.

3. Select either ON or OFF to enable or disable the buttonlock function automatically by clicking the button.

OFF: No protection is applied until the LOCK button ispressed.

ON: Enables the button lock function automatically if nooperation takes place within about 5 seconds.

OFF: No warning for remaining space1% - 10%: The selected warning is issued if the remain-

ing storage capacity is between 1 and 10%.

The factory default setting is 1%.

Note: This setting is applied to the display on the moni-tor screen and signal output from the CONTROLport.

■ Error ReportThere are 100 error records stored in chronological order in10 pages of tables.

ACCESS AUTHORIZATION

■ Control of Access AuthorizationUser access authorization is controlled as follows.

● Unlimited accessIf neither user nor host authorization is used (set to NOTUSE) in a network, all users may perform the followingoperations at access level 3.

• Monitoring live images• Controlling cameras and other equipment connected to

the WJ-HD500

C Accessing the WJ-HD500 SETUP MENU requires anadministrator account.

● Limited access• Access is limited according to the host access levels

specified in the HOST SETUP window. The HOSTSETUP window is queried using the IP address of thehost requesting access to the WJ-HD500. Whenaccessing via a proxy server, the access level there-fore is determined by the IP address of the proxyserver.

• When access is made from a PC not registered in theHOST SETUP window, the dialog box shown in thefigure prompts the user to enter User Name andPassword. The access level is determined when boththe user name and password are entered.

■ Access LevelThree access levels can be assigned to control access byusers.More than one user can be assigned the same accesslevel. While device control commands are given top priorityin the execution chain, there is no priority attached to theaccess level. It is possible to designate more than onenetwork administrator and to change designatedadministrators.

■ Main Page and Control WindowStart the WWW browser of your PC, in the URL (Uniform Resource Locators), type http:// (IP address previously set for the WJ-HD500) /.The browser displays the MAIN CONTROL PANEL of the WJ-HDB502’s homepage shown in the figure.

q Camera Select button (CAMERA SELECT)Selects any of the cameras connected to the DiskRecorder.

w List button (LIST)Displays the recorded data in list.

■ Monitoring Live ImagesThe cameras connected to the Disk Recorder can bemonitored in the MAIN CONTROL PANEL on the displayscreen.The following two modes are available for controlling theinputs from the cameras.

● Spot Monitoring1. Click the [LIVE ON] button on the panel.

The camera image (1 ch) will appear on the screen.

2. Click the desired Camera Select [1 - 16] button on thepanel.The camera images corresponding to the button willappear on the panel.

3. Repeat the above step 2 to select other camera imageson the panel.

● Sequence Monitoring1. Click the [LIVE ON] button on the panel.

The camera image (1 ch) will appear on the panel.

2. Click the [LIVE SEQUENCE] button on the panel.The sequence will be started from the camera imagesprogrammed previously.Refer to VIDEO MODE SETUP in the WJ-HDB502 setupfor further detailed.

3. To return to the spot monitoring, click the CameraSelect [1 - 16] button to be displayed.

■ Recording Live ImagesThe live images can be recorded as same as ManualRecording in Time Lapse Recording.The recording operation is only available the users setaccess level 1.

1. Click the [REC] button on the panel.

• When the user name and password dialog boxappears, enter the user name and password to log-in.

• The Manual Recording will start.

2. To quite the recording, click the [REC STOP] button onthe panel.

■ Playing Back Recorded ImagesThe recorded images on the disk can be played back onthe panel.The procedure described below are for operations playingback the hard disk.

● Basic Playback1. Clicking the [PLAY] button on the panel will play back

the most recent recordings in the forward direction.

• When the user name and password dialog boxappears, enter the user name and password to log-in.

2. To pause the playback, click the [PAUSE] button onthe panel.

• “PAUSE” will appear in the Status Display.• To resume playback, click the [PAUSE] button on the

panel again.

3. To quit playback, click the [STOP] button on the panel.

● Reverse PlaybackDuring playback or playback pause, click the [REV-PLAY]button on the panel to play back the recording in thebackward.

• “R-PLAY” will appear in the Status Display.

● Forward or Backward searchThe recorded images can be searched playing back.During playback or playback pause, click the followingbuttons to search the recording.

FF: Searches images in forward.REW: Searches images in backward.

• “FF” or “REW” will appear in the Status Display• Clicking the button will change the search speed.

● Forward or Backward field advanceThe recorded images can be searched one-by-one,displaying field by field.During playback pause, click the following buttons toadvance an image field by field.

NEXT FRAME: Forward Field AdvancePREV FRAME: Backward Field Advance

● Jump searchThe recorded images can be searched by jumping to thenext recording from the currently selected record number.During playback, click the following buttons to move to thebeginning of the next record from the record numbercurrently selected.After jumping to the next recording, the Disk Recorderresumes playback.

NEXT RECORD: Jumps to the beginning of the nextrecording in a forward direction.

PREV RECORD: Jumps to the beginning of nextrecording in a backward direction.

■ Search Record FunctionThe Disk Recorder has two search functions.The procedures below describe how to search and playback records.

1. Click the [LIST] or [THUMBNAIL] on the panel.

• The corresponding list or thumbnail will appear on thepanel as shown in the figure.Up to 16 list or thumbnail are displayed on the panel.

• When the user name and password dialog boxappears, enter the user name and password to log-in.

2. To only search the alarm recording, click the [ALARMLIST] or [ALARM THUMBNAIL] on the panel.

• The corresponding alarm list or alarm thumbnail willappear on the panel.

● Thumbnail DisplayTo play back the images in the thumbnail, follow theprocedure shown below.

1. Click the [PREV] or [NEXT] button on the panel toselect next or previous 16 thumbnail.

2. Select the thumbnail to be played back by clicking therecord number and clock display.The selected images will start playback.

3. To return to the previous MAIN CONTROL PANEL, clickthe [MAIN MENU] button on the panel.

● List DisplayTo play back the images in the list, follow the procedureshown below.

1. Click the [LIST SEARCH] or [ALARM LIST SEARCH]button on the panel to display the following dialogwindow as shown in the figure.

2. Specify the search term to be played back in thewindow.

q Select a group by clicking the pulldown list.

w Select a month, date and last 2 digits for the yearby pressing the keyboard.

e Select an hour (military time) and minutes bypressing the keyboard.

r Select a recording number by pressing thekeyboard.

3. Click the [SEARCH] button.A list of records including the most recent recording willappear on the panel.

4. Click the [PREV] or [NEXT] button on the panel toselect next or previous 16 thumbnail.

5. Select a recording number to be displayed by clickingthe Recording Number Display on the panel.

6. To return to the previous MAIN CONTROL PANEL, clickthe [MAIN MENU] button on the panel.

■ Alarm Reset FunctionThe Alarm Function activates the warning alarm status,when the externally connected alarm sensor is turned on, oran installed Video Motion Detector (optional) is activated.

1. When an alarm is activated in the system, “ALM” willappear on the Status Display of the MAIN CONTROLPANEL.

2. To return to the normal state previously, click the[ALARM RESET] button on the panel.

• When the user name and password dialog box appears,enter the user name and password to log-in.

■ Camera ControlsStart the WWW browser of your PC, in the URL (UniformResource Locators), type “http:// (IP address previously setfor the WJ-HD500) /mpindex.html”.The browser displays the MP204 CONTROL VIEW panel asshown in the figure.On the panel, the cameras (option) can be set by remotecontrol from this panel.

Note: To control the camera described below, the specifiedequipment is equipped in the system.

1. Click the desired Camera Select [1 - 16] button on thepanel.The camera images corresponding to the button willappear on the panel.

2. Click the ZOOM buttons to adjust the lens zoom.

WIDE: Optically brings an object closer.TELE: Optically brings an object further.

3. Click the [FOCUS] buttons to adjust the lens focus.

FAR: Sets the lens focus for further object.NEAR: Sets the lens focus for closer object.AUTO: Automatically set the lens focus.

4. Click the [IRIS] buttons to adjust the lens iris.

CLOSE: Closes the lens iris.OPEN: Opens the lens iris.RESET: Resets the lens iris to the factory default

setting.

5. Click the [AUTO PANI] buttons to control the autopanning function.

ON: Activates auto panning function.OFF: Deactivates auto panning function.

6. Clicking anywhere on the live image moves the camera(optional) up and down, or to the right and left.

• The camera pan/tilt angle increases (or decreases) asthe point clicked moves further (or closer) to the imagecenter.

• To move the camera continuously, click the imagerepeatedly.You cannot pan or tilt the camera continuously bydragging on the image.

7. Select a preset position number (1 - 64) to be displayedby clicking the pulldown list, then click the [SET]button.

8. To return to the previous MAIN CONTROL PANEL, clickthe [MAIN MENU] button on the panel.
