are members in quality assurance unit of

the faculty .

• Matching with the program ILOS with the

competencies developed by nursing SAG

in Tuning – MEDA

• Endorsement of the competencies in the

education and curriculum development

Committee

• Conducting a workshop to disseminate the

competencies among faculty members,

students and stakeholders .

• Based on the recommendations of the

workshop the committee of curriculum

development decided to select 5 courses

Challenges during the implementation

• Changing the program to a competency – based

program required a lot of time , efforts and

the challenges as it requires training of the staff

and students – needs a long time to get

approval from the nursing sector and Supreme

council of the university – It also necessitate

periodical meetings with the staff to raise their

awareness

• Redesign of the courses specifications

• Developing an evaluation system based

on Tuning Competencies.

• Mission of Faculty of Nursing, Cairo

University is currently changed to get the

international accreditation, therefore,

changing the program to a competency

based is a major challenge .

Recommendations for other

universities to overcome the challenges

• Conducting regular workshop for

academics and students to raise their

awareness about the competencies

• In developing a nursing program

competencies should be considered from

the start

• Using the meta- profile as a standard for a

nursing program

Benefits that can be achieved by

implementing Tuning

quality of nursing graduate.

• It will improve the quality of patient care provided

• It will help in mobility of the students

• The comparability and comptability of the

program

• The program will meet the community needs

• More marketing of the students.

How Tuning can further help for

implementation process

• By conducting various periodicals workshops

through video- conference with the universities .

• TOT on line for the students and academics.

• Providing the universities with the previous

Tuning programs and results of implementation.

• Mobility of the students and staff members
