DisciplineThe Huntley Park District will use a positive approachregarding discipline. The Huntley Park District reserves theright to dismiss a participant. Each situation will beevaluated on its own merit.

The purpose of discipline is to help a child develop self-control and learn to assume responsibility for his or her ownactions. We use positive statements and reinforcements toredirect negative behavior. Should a child need more thanthat, a “time-out” period may be initiated.

We will handle disruptive behavior in the followingmanner:1. The parent/guardian will be informed of the specific

behavior. A memo will be given to the parent and acopy will be kept in the child’s file.

2. If the behavior continues, the instructor will informparents a second time.

3. If there is no change in behavior, your child will bedismissed from the class/program; a refund will beissued for the remaining class days. Each situationwill be evaluated on its own merit.

Disruptive behavior is defined as any behavior thatcauses, or could lead to, personal injury of your child orothers. Examples: hitting, kicking, throwing things, defyingor running away, or any behavior that disrupts the normalclass climate. Disruptive behavior, in the broad sense, is anybehavior that takes an instructor away from the rest of theclass for long periods of time. The Huntley Park Districtreserves the right to remove a participant whose behaviorendangers the safety of themselves andothers.

Friendship RequestsNEW PROCEDURE STARTING WITH THE 2011-2012 BASKETBALL SEASON

The Huntley Park District would like to continue to provide the opportunity for players in our youth athletic leagues tomake a friendship request to be paired on a team with one (and only one) other player in the league. Starting with the2011-2012 Winter Basketball Season, Friendship Requests must now be completed in person at the registration desk atthe REC Center. We will now be entering friendship requests into our registration software in order to better insure thatrequests are not missed, as was happening in a limited number of cases with the old separate form system. This willalso help eliminate confusion with those who have submitted multiple requests in the past, as the registration systemwill only allow on registration per child under the Friendship Request code.

For a friendship request to be complete, you must come in and register your child under the friendship request codeand request a roster note be made listing the friend that you want to be paired with. That friend must then also comein and make a like request with your child’s name listed in the roster note of their friend request registration. Only onceboth players have registered under the friendship request code for their league with the other player listed under theirroster note, will a friendship request be considered complete and valid. Friendship requests must still be completed bythe registration deadline for the league.
